This place was amazing! From the restaurant, amenities, room, and to the staff I was in awe. I highly recommend if come to Guadalajara you should stay here. Even if you don’t stay here come by to have a drink or a bite to eat. You won’t regret it. L

Over the years I have stayed in literally thousands of hotels/motels. Never before have I paid so much for so little! I want to start with a few positives: 1) The staff was friendly and attentive, no problems at all. 2) The restaurant was great in both quality and service. 3) The neighborhood is very safe, whether day or night and convenient to many restaurants, etc. 4) The view of the city from the window was nice. Now for the rest: For $200+ USD I expected much, much more!! The room was tiny, the smallest I have ever stayed in! We had a king size bed that just barely fit in the room (literally only a couple of feet around the bed to the wall). Behind the bed was a tiny table with only one chair. I asked for another chair so my wife and I could at least sit during our two day stay. They did bring a flimsy little chair for us. There was no other place to sit in the entire room! There was a tiny refrigerator but it was filled with bottles for sale, so no use to us what-so-ever. No microwave. Obviously we will not be back!

Every second of our experience (from the moment we were greeted at the outside bell stand to the moment we checked out three days later) was exceptional. We interacted with the front desk staff several times a day, & found each & every one of them to be unbelieveably kind & helpful. One wonderful lady went above & beyond in search of our lost luggage by being our phone advocate with the airport 3 different times! The servers & bartenders in both the lobby bar, the lobby restaurant, & the poolside bar (special shout out to Levy!) were absolutely incredible. They helped us with our Spanish & helped us understand exactly what we were ordering, every single time. And the food! We had breakfast at the hotel every morning, & an amazing poolside dinner one night. Just fabulous! The rooftop pool has several lounge areas, not just around the bar, & I found myself enjoying a nightcap there each day before bedtime. The rooms themselves were beautiful. My sister & I had separate rooms, & we were part of a larger group, so I got to see first hand how lovely the entire property was, not just my own room. The king bed was so comfortable & the room layout was unique & simply lovely. I had perhaps the largest hotel bathroom I have ever seen. So much of the time on vacation, you rarely even notice your hotel because it's just where you sleep between activities. Not here. The moments I should have been resting between busy periods, I was hanging with the bar staff, enjoying a cold one on the pool deck or on their street-side outdoor seating, or drinking from my amply-stocked (& reasonably priced) minibar. Thanks to the entire staff of this wonderful property for having made this such a wonderful stay.

The hotel would've gotten 1 star if it was not for the comfortability of the bed. I booked this hotel specifically because it was part of Marriott and I expected a certain level of service. I also get perks based on my status. Those perks were non existent at this hotel. I had a horrible customer experience and would not recommend this hotel Check in - very basic, here is your key. The staff did not provide simple details that were needed at check-in from them. For example, how the lights in the room require a key, wifi name and password. Day 1- I had a spa appointment booked for 9am. I confirmed at check in that this was scheduled. At 9am, the spa is open and I am there for my appointment. Sadly, there was no one from the hotel there. The door was open, but no staff. I sat there until 9:15. I called the front desk, it rang and rang until it disconnected on its own. Called the manger line, it rang and rang until it disconnected on its own. I proceed to head to the front desk to explain there was no staff present. What a shocker to see 3 employees there. The reply was "Oh, there should be someone there, let me call them and have them go up there". She was nonchalant as if this was a norm. I canceled the appointment as I had other commitments that morning. At this point, they did not value my time; therefore did not deserve my business. ***BUGS**** Yes, you read that correctly. The night before check out, I am packing my bags waiting on room service. Pull back the sheet to find some tiny bugs moving across the bed. You can imagine the shock I had as I watched them move. Alfredo from the restaurant immediately took pictures and videos. He had the upmost empathy and immediately said they would move me to another room. He quickly helped me gather things and move all of my items to another room/floor. He alone was visibly ashamed and doing what he could to assist me. Upon check out, I let the front desk know of the issue as it was not mentioned. The reply was, we heard there was a problem and apologize. That was it! I was shocked at the lack of empathy and acknowledgement of the larger issue.. there were BUGS in my bed. No offer of any compensation or discount off my room.

The location, the details, the atmosphere but especially the service; is what makes this hotel different and special. Felt quite comfortable. The pool was my favorite area. It also has a romantic vibe.

The hotel is in a quiet street in a neighbourhood said to the one of the world's coolest (not sure by whom, maybe someone who looked at a map but didn't actually visit). Lafayette area has some good bits but how anyone thinks this is 'cooler' than say Roma North in Mexico city is beyond me. Anyway, the staff were nice and friendly, the hotel design very current, the food at 'Hello' breakfast was delicious, the restaurant is run by a very well trained chef, the pools is small and a bit murky (as others have noted) and the rooms spacious, quiet, beds super comfy and generally well appointed with good cosmetics and aircon. There is a delicious welcome drink for Bonvoy members but they are slack about recording points. A line for drying washing would be handy. It's a fair trip to the old part of town, which has some good historic bits and traditional cantina restaurants , but is well located for the airport (20 mins) and excursions to Tequila. On balance, it's a great choice for a stay in Mexico's second city.
