What a fabulous house. Rooms/suites were superb with all the facilities you could want. Host Janet cooked the most amazing breakfasts including her own freshly baked croissants. Within walking distance of everything including a great selection of restaurants. Could not recommend this accommodation highly enough.

It's an expensive old fashioned way to stay walking distance from downtown Guelph. This is a traditional b&b with non-traditional Airbnb style no-contact self check in and a door code. They provide free parking on site for small cars. Unfortunately, there is cleaning equipment around the hallways including vacuum. A full mop bucket blocked access to the common fridge on the upper floor. We stayed in the second cheapest option, Pandora. It has a queen foam mattress that is pretty soft -- your feet will be higher than your head. There are 2 armchairs, a table that could be used as a desk, blackout drapes (that don't let in the morning light), a tiny closet with many hangers, and a full bathroom with a jet tub, rainhead shower, handheld shower, black toilet and black sink. Some of the white towels were stained or shredded edges. They provide liquid hand soap and shampoo and conditioner but the actual contents of the pump containers do NOT match the labels, so beware if you have any allergies or sensitivities. (They contain standard cheap soap, shampoo and conditioner). Bring your own robes and slippers. We were not able to adjust the heat and it was fairly warm. Free WiFi. Water is softened so there are a couple of dispensers to get good drinking water upstairs and downstairs. They do not provide decaf tea or herbal tea so bring your own. Jen cooks breakfast between 8-9:45 am and does a nice job. They provide yogurt, orange juice, watery light brown coffee (not good), zucchini walnut bread (dry and boring) and yogurt fruit granola parfait (good). She also offered us a free cooked breakfast of one egg huevo ranchero on a thick potato latke with tomato basil arugula salad. That was actually very good and much appreciated. The owner Jan was around at checkout and charged us for our stay. They do prompt for a tip which is funny because of the self service aspects of the stay. On the bright side the room was $200 including taxes and fees, but other rooms are well over $400. It's not for everyone. We would not stay again.

We stayed for 1 night in the Penthouse Suite which was beautiful! It is on the top floor (there about 15 steps to climb in total) and very private. There are 2 bedrooms and both the beds are spacious and comfortable. The sitting area has a jacuzzi bathtub which looked really nice and there is a dining area with coffee maker, utensils, glasses etc. There is also a balcony overlooking the gardens which we would have used had the weather been nicer (it was raining). The bathroom was large with a walk-in shower. There was shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc Plenty of towels for all 3 of us. When you arrive, you call the owner and she will give you the code to enter the house and where to find your key to your room. There was a couple arriving at the same time as us and they stayed on the ground floor in the Grandview Room right next to the front door. When I saw them at breakfast, they said it was quiet and they were not disturbed by people entering and exiting throughout the day and night. There is ample parking. It is about a 5-10 min walk to a couple of restaurants nearby which is handy if you wish to drink and not worry about driving. Breakfast in the morning was delicious! And the chef was friendly and accommodating. Lots of coffee and a choice of 2 main courses. This is a beautiful place to stay for a getaway and we will definitely be back!

The Norfolk inn is a beautiful historical inn. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. We stayed in the grandview room, which was even more lovely than in the photos. If you are looking for a beautiful spot to stay in Guelph, this is it. The reason for the 3-star review is that the day we were there, there was some kind of party happening below us from 10pm-12pm, which is not what we were expecting as we were looking forward to a peaceful get-away. When I messaged the owner inquiring as to what was going on, we never received a reply. We were disappointed there was no explanation or acknowledgement. I would have expected better service at this price point.

Came for an overnight stay to visit my son in his first year at Guelph. He lives in res, I needed an affordable and cozy place to stay. My guest room (The Pandora) was like home away from home! And Janet made my check-in, breakfast to the room, and check-out, an easy and lovely experience. As I plan on coming for more visits to see my son, I’ll be back to this beautiful guest house again! 😊

This is a lovely B and B close to downtown Guelph. Arrive and enter with door code. Rooms are beautiful, clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast included fresh fruit, 2 kinds of yogurt and one day warm croissants with farm fresh boiled eggs and a delicious bacon, egg and cheese sandwich the next day. The proprietor, Janet, was helpful and friendly. I would recommend this lodging while you’re visiting Guelph.

My husband and I booked this stay just to get a weekend out of Toronto and as a chance to see some of the surrounding areas such as Elora and Kitchener/Waterloo. We stayed in the Grandview room. I was prepared to be disappointed as often a place will not live up to the pictures, but the opposite was the case. The room was amazing; incredibly spacious with the lovely balcony and bathroom. Breakfast was tasty and delivered to our room each morning. It all felt very luxurious. Check-in was simple and straightforward, despite a power loss due to a wicked thunderstorm that had just knocked out power to the area. The location is great a well, both for day trips by car (Elora, K/W) and in the evening to walk into town for a dinner on a patio. I thoroughly recommend this place!

We enjoyed it, and will no doubt return, particularly given the excellent location, and the dearth of independent and appealing accommodations in Guelph. Norfolk Guest House is halfway between a B&B and an inn. Occasional interaction with the innkeeper, no interaction with other guests. Liked the convenience of self-check in. Beautifully restored heritage home. Old houses are hard to heat, but it was not at all drafty, we were comfy. It was also very quiet, throughout the weekend. Lots of nice touches, including a television set mounted on a swivel that could be viewed from the sitting area or the bed, and it received Netflix. Breakfast was served with a knock on the door on Saturday morning by a charming young woman around 8:30 – which was great, but I did need coffee before then, and there was no in-room coffee maker. I made a pot in the guest kitchen but wasn't entirely clear if I was welcome to do so.
