ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I have no words to describe how amazing this hotel is! Perfect place, astonishing rooms, great staff. Super clean, great food, and the swimming pool area is just great. The hotel is nearby the beach so you can actually take a walk there every time that you want.

The hotel is luxurious. I had a bad experience with the receptionists. They haven't passed the information through themselves and unfortunately because of this we were waiting for hop on hop of bus 1 hour at the bus stop on 30°C . One month ago the have had an update for the bus timing, but they didn't know about this. The lobby bar according the capacity of the hotel guests is super tiny. Everything else I was happy with!

I had high expectations for the hotel, but i was a little disappointed. The rooms are nice and we had a nice view to the pools. But the hotel it's very busy, the pools were always full (but that comes with the high season I guess), but the worst it's really the meals. The food it's ok, but the service it's not good. Food everywhere (floor, tables, etc), hard to get a clean table. Maybe it would improve if they set schedules and that way they don't have 90% of the hotel going to eat at the same time. On the other side, the activities for the kids are great, my daughter loved the magic show, and the front desk people are great. I wanted to charge my car and even not having a slot that would fit to my schedule, they went above and beyond to find me a slot and they made it, event after I told them that it was not a problem and I could live without charging my car. That it's what I expect from a 5 star hotel. I heard that the property it will start operating under the Marriott brand, so I expect some improvements there, and I will probably return to try it out.

I completely agree with Hellie72! Everything is exactly as our party of four adults also feel. The noise in the ‘canteen’ was totally unacceptable as was the children running around, the quality of the food was inconsistent. Yes it’s a family hotel, we have stayed in plenty of these but this was the worst experience we have ever had. As for the all inclusive plus, that’s a joke! Self-service in a 5* hotel with paper cups for coffee? One visit token to the Moonlight restaurant was well appreciated, pity this wasn’t every night! The pool bar/food should be accessible to all and not just a one pre booked visit token! The rooms were well maintained but being on the bottom floor made it dingy especially on the balcony plus renovation work could be heard from the apartment block opposite the hotel. So the 5 stars are really a puzzle to how they were achieved. We have stayed in better 3/4 stars! Yes it’s very convenient for golfing, the course is a definite but that’s just about it! There’s so much space at this hotel that could be utilised more and maybe give adults a space to sit and relax too?

Completely agree with 'Hellie72' everything that was written was spot on!!! Even down to the dismal corridors. The one meal per stay in the Moonlight restaurant was heaven as you could actually hear yourself speak and fabulous friendly staff. Having nowhere for adults to go and chill out without hearing constant babies or toddlers screaming would be great! What is that all about not being able to eat at the 19th Hole restaurant! It's the Pool bar/restaurant and we should be able to choose to eat there any day not just one a week!! The hotel seems to go really big but such a lot of wasted space! 5 star you are not!!

We’ve stayed in a couple of Tui blue couples only hotels in the last couple of years and always been impressed. We booked this one through tui and stupidly expected the same. First impressions are good. A large modern looking building and you walk into a really impressive huge hall type lobby. Modern furniture, light and airy. Reception staff were polite but almost robotic and that sums up the staff throughout the resort - no one makes conversation or smiles or asks about your stay. Our room was on the ground floor, we walked along the darkest dingiest corridor ever to reach it. Again first impressions the room looked lovely but the lighting in there was poor and the bed was two singles pushed together and held by a sheet. The beds were uncomfortable with soft pillows - by night 4 we were both struggling with back and neck ache. View from the balcony was an empty swimming pool and a lot of trees - again no natural light. Room did get serviced daily. The food was poor - standard euro catering but the dining room noisy, crowded and chaotic. Our one permitted visit to the moonlight a la carte (lovely views) was a break from this rugby scrum but the food mediocre. Service was poor up here and our dining companions all had very young children still roaming around at 9pm. Whilst this resort is not advertised as adult only, there was not one single area that was adult only and I have no issue with family holidays but would’ve been nice to enjoy a drink without young children running about late at night. The nine hole bar area - again you’re permitted one visit during your stay (heaven help you if you try and eat there and you’ve not booked even though it was half empty most days!) and the food again is mediocre. It then turns into a snack bar at 4pm and offers a good choice of food - why not have this open to everyone from 12pm as a lunch option? It’s like they are trying to have exclusive areas but somewhere that serves lunch on plastic plates? Doesn’t cut it! All in all disappointing. Place was full of young families. Staff unengaging. Food unimaginative. Dark and unappealing room. And not cheap. Definately will not be returning and would not recommend to couples - family resort for sure. One of the only perks was the shuttle service to the local beach which was free and a nice break from the hotel.

The main reason I have scored this resort low is due to the quality of the food. I learnt a hard lesson on this trip that 5* was awarded due to number of amenities rather than quality of amenities. I would rate Salgados Palace a 2/3* for quality which is a big drop when you are expecting 5*. The advertising is misleading as it puts "luxury" hotel however this is referring to the spa which is a payable amenity. The buffet area was extremely busy during peak times and the quality of the food was not appetising. It was apparent that low cost food had been used. The staff in this area were also not attentive or very helpful. Due to the quality of the food, my partner and I ate most of our lunches and dinners outside of the resort which led to a considerable additional cost we didn't anticipate spending as we had purchased all inclusive. We did make a complaint to the hotel. I was expected to be offered a free meal as a GOGW due to our experience of the food and how disappointed we were however we were not offered this. Please note, we had dinner at the hotel's Moonlight restaurant (payable a la carte restaurant) one evening, the food was amazing, so were the staff and the view of sunset was incredible. It was such a shame the staff were not as attentive in other areas of the hotel resort, mainly the all in one buffet area. My partner and I were put off by the swimming area when we arrived due to the loudness of the music and how busy it was. This atmosphere may be preferable for some but adding it in the review in case this is an important factor to choosing a resort. Once the peak period was over the pool areas did slightly calm and it was fairly enjoyable. Beach location - The beach is one of the best I have seen and been on. There were plenty of parasols to rent should you wish to have one. The beach also felt very safe. It was a 15 minute walk from the hotel and it was a lovely walk. Spa - This was lovely to use. It was 10 EURO each but this isn't a lot when considering how much this would cost in the UK. Appearance and upkeep of Hotel - The appearance was quite tired. eg scuffs on furniture, Personally, this isn't an important factor, but again if you are expecting 5* quality, the general appearance wouldn't be There were some positives however overall I would never consider returning to the resort, it felt more family orientated rather than couples however the main reason was the quality of the food and staff in the buffet area.

This is our second time staying at Salgados Palace, and once again, it was an excellent experience. The hotel offers great food throughout the day, the rooms are good and the entertainment options are top-notch. The Kids Club is fantastic, with entertainers who truly enjoy their work and build wonderful relationships with the children. A special shoutout to Francisco Tomás, Ana Rita Farinha, and Cláudia Tavares, as my daughter loved spending time with them. Andrew Santos and José Ferreira were also incredibly helpful and attentive in the club. The Pirates swimming pool was a hit with the kids, although the water was a bit cold, and the pool was closed for two days for cleaning. The only downside was the noise. The karaoke, shows, and live music were held inside the building, and the sound could be heard throughout the hotel. It would be much better if the volume were lower and if the fire doors leading to the rooms were closed by 10 PM to keep the noise down. Additionally, the guest room doors could use some adjustments to minimize the noise when closing, and signs reminding guests to be mindful of noise in the corridors would be appreciated. Unfortunately, some guests were inconsiderate, with loud conversations, shouting, and children running in the hallways. Overall, it was a good stay that could have been fantastic with better noise control.

Am currently here and wanted to give my view, we are a family of 5, Pros Room are nice and clean bar staff are fine reception are fine if not a little slow pools are fine, two kids ones and two deep adults ones no issue getting sun loungers ect `little muddy around pirate ship but nothing to serious Cons defo not a 5 star, not even close no managers and only a few local full time staff, most seem like low paid agency food is terrible, buffet restaurant is only one (they have a oll buffet between 4 and 6) and you can also book the poolside restaurant for lunch but was total waste of time, they have a la carte but didn't bother due to reviews left here and again you had to book for one evening per stay entertainment is all in portugese, kids club pretty much waste of time and again all in portugese, evening entertainment in lobby of hotel terrible, All of which means you have dinner in the canteen style all inclusive and then have nothing to do, no where nearby to go to unless you get a taxi and nothing to do for english speakers in hotel, As we say in Ireland. it was grand but defo not for couples, not for teenagers, maybe bareable for those with young kids who play in pool all day as nothing else really to do But, can't stress enought how bad food is, my kids had spagetti and chips for whole trip, not even a burger or chicken nugget in main restaurant. Food all for portugese guests

Second time we've visited as a family and its been awesome again. Had the most chilled 12 nights. I really can't fault it, everything I needed was on hand when I wanted, drinks & food were lovely, so much variety. I really had no need to leave the hotel but alas my wife dragged me out twice against my will to the marina & old town. Shout out to pool bar staff and main restaurant staff, very friendly and do a great job. Family had a great time, kids loved the pools, milkshakes and slushies, my wife & I will truly miss our late afternoon cocktails by the pool which I must say were exceptional 😁

My partner and I stayed at salagados palace hotel for 10 nights along with over half of our wedding guests, 6 of which were children. Our stay was absolutely incredible from start to finish. On arrival we were upgraded to a double room with seaview which was beautiful with stunning views and was cleaned to a high standard daily. Due to the rooms not being big enough for the bridal party to get ready in on our wedding day my partner asked for an upgrade to a suite/larger room. The hotel was unable to facilitate this as there were no suites available. However unbeknown to me my other half and the amazing staff had organised a conference room for myself and the bridal party to get ready in. Catarina and Adriana in particular went above and beyond including coming in and organising the room on their days off. They made our wedding morning absolutely perfect and stress free and we will be forever grateful. They made us feel so special throughout our whole stay and we will look forward to coming back and seeing you in the future.

I note the other reviews are hit and miss but honestly this is a great place. We stayed as a family of 4 and paid to upgrade to the top floor in a sea view suite (2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2 separate WC, 2 balcony) on an Ultra AI basis with everything you could need in the suite included (robes, slipers, iron, kettle, nespresso pod machine (daily refilled) , minibar (daily refill), all tolietires and loads of amenities included. We had a fantanstic time. The entire resort is spotless. The permanent NUA staff are excellent are professional, very welcoming and helpful. We loved the huge spa and indoor pool which is included for some guests, otherwise €10 a day and gym is always free. The hairdresser is only €10 for a gentleman's quick trim. Kids club activities are good and staff work hard to please all and is secure so you can leave your children whilst you visit the gym and or spa. It is safe. Our favourite meal was the table service bookable lunch at the pool restaurant. We also liked eating outside for breakfast at the buffet. The lobby bar open 12-11 s best for cocktails and premium drinks included. Also offers milk and juice for children. Beach is fantastic two options to choose from, walk 15 minutes or take free land train to other. 3 bars between both beach ends The twice weekly visits by the local zoo was great to see raptors and reptiles and chances to have UHD photos to take home for just €10 incl. frames. We have already booked to return at the end of the summer. Thank you t all the very hard working staff whom are excellent are so kind.

Good family hotel, def not a 5 star. Family rooms are great and spacious, service at the reception needs to be more welcoming, kids club needs a better organization. Food is great, well done to the cleaning team as they keep this resort always extremely clean. The beach is at 10 min, there is a shuttle from the hotel or a path that can be walked. The golf pitch is immaculate. The real issue with this hotel is that the meals are always crowded, being all indoor it gets very loud and at times unpleasant.

I am pleased to share my experience at the NAU Salgados Hotel, where I stayed in June with my husband and two children. I have been a regular guest at this hotel for 5 years, always attentive to any opportunities for improvement that the hotel might have.During my last stay, I encountered a situation that could have gone better. However, the truth is that the customer support was fantastic. I would like to extend a huge thank you to Catarina Miranda (I hope I got her name right) for listening to us and showing that the hotel is genuinely concerned about continuous improvement. One of the hotel's highlights is, without a doubt, the Moonlight restaurant. The head of the restaurant is a 10-star person who always makes us feel special. This level of care and attention makes all the difference and is one of the reasons we keep coming back. For all these reasons, we will be returning again in August this year for another family week. I highly recommend the NAU Salgados Hotel to anyone looking for a memorable stay with excellent customer service.
