Hotels in Guilin South Railway Station/Too Square/Qintan Bus Station, Guilin

I actually have very few words for how impressed I am with this hotel and the staff. I came expecting just a regular cheap hotel, the price is so low but actually it’s very very impressive. I arrived to the wrong location and one member of staff made an enormous effort to come collect me and walk me to the right one… all along the way she was happy and talking about the different places I could visit. The hotel itself is very nice, very clean and way above my expectations. The room too is fantastic - I almost didn’t want to leave the shower haha. I only booked one day but I genuinely wish I was staying here for a few more nights. The only downside I have is the restaurant food, I am vegetarian so the choices were limited but the soup on offer was delicious. I ordered another bowl. There’s also a very nice view from the restaurant balcony so do not miss that!

We were surprised by the amazing price-quality ratio. Not only we were able to get a great price for the night, but we were also upgraded for free to a bigger room with a bathtub once we arrived. The breakfast included was also surprisingly good, they even had a Guilin noodles station. There’s also a washer-dryer free to use. Pity we we didn’t stay more nights. *It is an old hotel, but well taken care of. No english though, but it was not needed as we had already done our research on where to eat/visit.

This is an old four-star hotel in Guilin, located in Guihu Scenic Area, on a peninsula. The surrounding scenery is picturesque, and the landscape lights are even more gorgeous at night. The price is relatively affordable, there are many hotel rooms, and the configuration of the same room type is slightly different, which needs to be noted. The room is fully equipped with safes and refrigerators. The decoration is slightly old-fashioned, probably because it is in Chinese style. There are obvious water stains on the ceiling of the top-floor room I stayed in this time. It should be a yellow spot formed by the previous roof leak. The area is not small. This kind of problem can usually be solved by brushing it with white paint twice, and it doesn’t cost much. I don’t know why the hotel ignores the problem and lets every guest who stays in the room see the abstract painting on the ceiling as soon as they lie on the bed. When the weather is clear, you can see Guilin's unique peaks and forests in the distance from the window, but you can also see the dark and old dirt on the roof of the lower floor of the hotel. I don't understand why the hotel management doesn't improve this detail that can improve the hotel's image by cleaning it up. The building itself of Guihu Hotel is very excellent. The facade and structure are almost integrated with the surrounding mountains and waters. This is better than other four-star or even five-star hotels in the city. Other hotels can't imitate it. The hotel's buffet variety is average, the dining environment is spacious and bright, and the dishes and cups are clean and tidy, but it should be pointed out that the milk is mixed with water, which is very bad. I have stayed in so many star-rated hotels, and this is the first time I have drunk milk mixed with water (in fact, I have never encountered it when I stayed in Jinjiang Star). Although the breakfast buffet is not expensive, about 30 per person, it gives a very bad impression to the guests. Some people who mind it may not choose to stay the second time. If the hotel considers the cost, it is recommended to limit the supply of milk, or supply boxed milk according to the number of people. Having said so much, I still hope that all aspects of the hotel can be properly improved, because Guihu Hotel is still very good. Let's not discuss the measures that require huge budgets such as room renovation, but through some small inves**ents and improvements in small details, it can also improve the satisfaction of guests staying in the hotel, thereby improving the reputation and reputation of the hotel. In short, the hotel is still very good, and the flaws do not outweigh the merits. I recommend everyone to stay here.

Room: 1017 (king bed & bunk bed); duration of stay: 4 nights. Family of 4 (including 6 & 11y.o. boys) Absolutely wonderful surprise to walk into this room and see how spacious it was along with many fun features which included kids’ bunk bed and slide down one side, playhouse tent, play area with small kids table and chairs and small rocking horse. A large kids play area (open 10am – 10pm) on the same floor (level 10) along with a very basic gym i.e. 1 treadmill, a couple of indoor bikes. Most guests on level 10 kept our doors open and kids could freely roam between their hotel room and play area. There is no safe in the room although the hotel was safe and secure (cameras on each floor). Our valuables were locked in our suitcase when not in the room. A nice touch of earplugs by our bedside (although we didn’t need them) and heated/electric toilet. Both kids and adults enjoyed the room and hotel. The hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful. Limited English and we communicated via translate app and my 11y.o. son who speaks intermediate Chinese. Use of sunscreen and other items available for free from reception counter. The hotel is very clean. Free laundry (front loading machines and a hanging rack heated dryer) including laundry powder (located on level 8). The pool was nice however given we visited late October, a bit on the cool side with the changing season. The breakfast spread was very good with a mixture of fruit, bread, dim sum, eggs (boiled, fried, scrambled), bacon, Chinese breakfast, tea, coffee, etc. 3 items, including noodles, on the breakfast menu to obtain freshly cooked. We also ate at the restaurant for dinner twice and both meals were fantastic (we recommend the T-bone steak!). Ordering is via scanning a QR code. Limited alcoholic spirits on the dinner menu. We booked a boat tour via the hotel tour desk using the translator app. The service was good and easy. We opted to get a taxi to the boat (rather than the group van which left an hour earlier and cost RMB10pp) however upon arriving to the boat ticket office outside the boats they tried to redirect us to a different location. We communicated with the hotel tour desk via WeChat which was quick and very helpful as they sent photos of the desk we needed to be at (which was a table next door to the ticket office). The process was smooth and easy. The use of the spa is 50% off for hotel guests and from memory it opens at 3pm. Suggest to book ahead as the spa does book out quickly. The location is good; a walk away from Guilin Pagoda Hill, Elephant hill (10 min walk), Starbucks on the opposite side of the road less than 10 minute walk away, 2 KFC’s, food, taxi stand to the left of the hotel, night market, shopping, etc. Great features of this hotel: • Fun hotel and fantastic for kids • Very clean and safe • Good location • Good breakfast spread, lunch/dinner options • Taxi stand less than 1 minute walk For awareness: • SYYF has 2 locations. Taxi’s kept dropping us back at the other location. Therefore take the address in Chinese and make sure the taxi drivers read the address (not just look at the logo)

Bo Yin Hotel (Li River Secluded Hotel) Our visit to Guilin was to spend time with my wife’s large family and we twice stayed at the Li River Secluded hotel, for a total of 7 nights. Our expectations of a hotel experience are high, so we avoid using American chain hotels when possible. The Li River Secluded hotel more than met those expectations by combining exceptional customer service with a laid back, but luxurious guest experience. On arrival, we were offered a room upgrade. The upgrade accommodation was located on the ground floor, so this did not appeal to us until we were shown the room … the suite was spacious and tastefully furnished with a Zen motif that included a ceremonial tea table. Both my wife and I practice daily yoga, so the ample floor space immediately appealed to us. A room-width picture window featured a view of the Li River Lake and its pair of pagodas. Remote-controlled drapes and shears sound-proofed and eliminated light from the room when closed. A buffet daily breakfast on the 8th (top) floor was included and featured a good selection of both Chinese and Western options. We had family commi**ents that prevented us from eating dinner at the restaurant, but my wife hosted an afternoon tea session in the restaurant for some of her friends and the tea and pastries were excellent. In addition, fresh fruit was placed in the room every day, and the room refrigerator was refreshed daily with water, sodas, and snacks. The hotel was generally maintained in pristine condition and effected the highest standards of cleanliness. This applied to all the facilities apart from a small exercise room on the 5th floor. This consisted of a set of barbells (no bench), a fixed weight station (functional), and 2 treadmills, neither of which functioned properly … that said, I did use the weight station and the patio outside of the exercise room for yoga on a couple warmer days. There was also a guest laundry on the 5th floor which my wife used on one occasion. The customer service attitude in Chinese hotels is generally an improvement on what we are accustomed to in North America, but at the Bo Yin Hotel it’s exceptional. This means that English language speakers (I’m Canadian and my wife is Chinese by birth) would experience no problem in addressing any of the front desk, maid, or restaurant personnel. For those who prefer to order take-out food, a robotic delivery service is used, a feature that tends to fascinate any child you might be traveling with. Sean Bennett

Check-in was smooth without deposit. The hotel handled things very quickly. They also gave us fruits and handwritten greeting cards upon check-in. There was also a small China Southern Airlines plane✈️I really love this small plane💗ps: The little brother is tall and handsome

Guilin Trip was amazing! The Gangshe Hotel (Guilin Two Rivers and Four Lakes Xiangshan Scenic Spot) is within the city where you can find around the famouse Guilin Food and choose the best food you can see --- located just at the side of the hotel - the busy street foods, big and small restaurant, shopping mall, near to the Guilin river trip, to the park, and if you are foreigner like me who still love Mc Donalds and/or KFC but alaso love street food, its around the hotel. The hotel service was nice! they know I am foreigner and they take care the communcation with mix Chinese- English. One of the hotel staff added my wechat and we can talk in translated English - Chinese, which is awesome. They have free tea / coffee from 2:30 to 4 PM, it was nice Latte coffee blended with Chinese snacks. My room is a single bed, enough for a solo DIY traveller's with all the comfortable facilities needed to live comfortably. I suppsoed to believe that the view outside the window is the Elephant trunk or Elephan Hill as seen on the trip.com website, its about 10 minutes away by taxi + traffic. I spend the whole afternoon trekking in the elephant hill, explaining what about the stabbed elephant mountain hahaha. Facilities: Very good. I like it very much. I will stay here next time. It is very close to the scenic spots. Hygiene: Hygiene is very good and very clean. Environment: The environment is quiet and very easy to live in. So beautiful. Service: Very good. Very spot on. I will stay here next time I go out to play.

Our room had a magnificent view of the Li River. The sightseeing spots in Guilin City were all in walkable distance of the hotel. The breakfast had a good amount of variety and you can even get the typical Guilin Rice Noodles if you want. The service was over the top (everyone was super friendly and attentive). If you have any questions the staff replies to your messages within minutes. We were asked if the breakfast is alright or if they should prepare a more western one for us. They probably also saw our bin filled with empty water bottles and provided us 1.5L bottles for free 😂 Will most certainly recommend this hotel to my friends and family and would also come myself again!

A lovely stay, despite a hiccup. Super comfortable bed and really clean room. Lots of interesting little artefacts and communal areas in the hotel and the staff are super friendly and helpful. We stayed for a one night stopover in Guilin before heading to the Longshen fields and it was perfect for this. It's right next to Elephant trunk hill so we were able to tick that off easily despite a very short stay. We had one night in Longshen coming up next and needed a way to get there the next day. We thought instead of taking the public bus we would check with the hotel to see if they did any direct shuttles. They said they'd be able to fit us in with their tour van the next day and although it was a scheduled tour, they could arrange to drop us off at a point near our next hotel if we paid for the seats and entry fee for the Longshen fields. It turned out there was a bit of a miscommunication and we ended up stuck on the tour for quite some time (including a lunch stop we didn't really want) before they reached our drop off point. The tour driver was also supposed to drop us off in an area past a payment checkpoint in Longshen but we were dropped off outside of it and had to pay the entrance fee again. The hotel attempted to help by sending us receipts of the payment made and asked us to go to the ticket office to seek a refund for the double up. The ticket office was a bit far from where we were staying and we simply did not have time to do that given our tight schedule. It was a bit annoying as it wasn't our fault that the tour driver dropped us off at the wrong place and we weren't re-imbursed for his mistake. We understand though that this all came down to a bit of a miscommunication and a language barrier (most the staff only spoke Mandarin but I can only speak Cantonese so could only communicate to one of the staff members). Everyone was trying their best to accommodate our request, so we are understanding of that. The mistake happened because we were trying to be too clever but ended up getting something we didn't want. My advice for anyone doing the same thing heading to Longshen from the area is to just use the public bus services as it will be much easier (and cheaper).
