We thought we would pay the extra and treat ourselves to a suite, based on the hotel website photos which show a sofa, chairs and coffee table. We were pretty disappointed with the room we were allocated. Although the room was large, the suite I was expecting only had a chair, footstool and a large round something! The view from the balcony was restricted as our room was at the side of the hotel and we overlooked the hotel outside bar rather than having a full sea view. It rained heavily on our first full day and it would have been nice to not have to sit on the bed while passing the time. I requested a room change, even to be downgraded but was told that the hotel was fully booked and nothing could be done. I had already checked the hotel website and various booking agencies which all showed availability. I met a manager later in the week, in the lift, who was shocked when I gave a negative to the question about enjoying my room. I got the usual response that they could have done something if only they had known. By then, our stay was almost over and I suggest that the front desk staff are trained to look for solutions rather than to just ignore requests. The room (suite) overall looked a little tired with lots of marks on the walls and the air conditioning was so loud that I had to wear earplugs in order to sleep. There was plenty of storage and a coffee machine but no folder with general hotel info. We therefore took a couple of attempts before successfully operating the coffee machine and failed miserably to quieten down the aircon. The bathroom had a shower, no bath but the water was hot when required. There was however, no space to put anything such as a toiletry bag. Breakfast was a bit haphazard in that food items were not replenished at times. Coffee could be made to order as well as omelettes, poached eggs etc but if you requested the orange juice dispenser be refilled or asked for a teaspoon, you were left waiting a while. I got the impression that the staff were trying to look busy rather than being well managed. The location of the hotel is ideal for bars and restaurants but not if you want a quiet area. The bus service around the island is pretty good and the water taxi to Valletta excellent.

I've just returned from a fantastic weeks stay at the hotel verdi in sliema malta. From the moment we arrived was the best hotel experience I've ever had . When we arrived from our early morning flight was delighted to find that our room was ready and we could check in at 1pm fantastic news . Then a chap at reception spent 15 minutes talking us through all the places we should visit also a few handouts and maps of the area big thumbs up for that . Our room was on the fifth floor with a sea view I'd recommend paying the extra for that I spent hours on the balcony just taking in the fantastic views over the bay and watching the boats come and go . The room itself was very spacious with all the mod cons usb sockets etc bed was massive very comfortable. Plenty storage for 2 people for a week . Probably the most powerful aircon I've ever experienced it was definitely needed because the outside temperature was extremely hot even at night what a relief to get back to your room . The breakfast had anything that you'd require something for everyone and no issues with coffee machines that I seen . Every member of staff I spoke to were polite helpful and professional . I don't know why it's only 4 star I can't fault it and it's in a perfect position for trips over the island and 20 euros and about 20 minutes from the airport in a taxi .I've never been to Malta before but I will definitely be back and staying in the hotel verdi again.

Ta' Giorni
The location is convenient with restaurants and plenty of buses nearby but it's also a quite poor and ugly neigbourhood. It seems to be in the process of being gentrified with lot's of construction in the quarter but there are also many abandoned and broken buildings around. Generally it feels a bit sketchy. The Hotel itself is a new construction, designed well and very clean. My biggest complaint however is the service and staff. Unfortunately I was given one of the worst rooms, where the balcony was facing a wall, so there was almost no daylight in the room. When enquiring if a room change is possible, the receptionist blantly lied to my face and said they were fully booked. When I checked online for the same dates and room category, there was still plenty available, even in higher categories. So instead of trying to upsell me or finding another solution to satisfy me as a customer, they treated me like cattle.

The hotel is relatively old, but it is in the first row by the sea. The room has a small balcony, facing the yacht marina. There is a small supermarket downstairs. You need to take the bus to the ancient city. The station is also downstairs. It is very convenient.
