Best Hotels near Alster Lakes, Hamburg

Great location. Easy to get around and get back to the place at night. If you're a light sleeper I wouldn't recommend the shared rooms, people coming back late at night, the doors close quite loudly. My only complaint is that I received a keycard to the wrong room and walked right into a private suite.. Nobody was there thankfully and I just walked right out, but if I were staying in a private room I would hate to think that strangers could just walk into my room where all my belongings are lying around. Otherwise clean and quite a cool environment.

We booked this hotel via Amoma. Com as it stated that this hotel had large family rooms, pets were welcome and that the rooms had air-conditioning. All not true. We were asked to pay an additional 30 euros for our third child. We had also booked a quiet room but faced the very noisy street. The room was extraordinaryly hot and staff did not provide us with a fan. The room was small but reasonably clean. No tea or coffee making facilities. The bathroom was ok but hairdryer did not work. Interiors quite tired. The biggest problem with this hotel is the location. It is the local druggie hang out. We saw people using drugs in the street right outside the hotel and it was clear that this is not a safe area. The riot police attended several incidents during our stay and made several arrests. **********s operate in this area too. We would not recommend to stay here and it certainly was not even good value for money.

Stayed in a single room, then switched to a 6 man dorm on the final night as it was Sunday and was expecting it to be very quiet. The single rooms are spartan and there is not even a chair, just some little stuffed stool. The issue in Hamburg is that accomdation is expensive in the city. For the same money, you could stay at a very nice 3 star hotel in many European cities! The 6 man dorm seemed quiet and ok, and then I noticed the issues. There were beer stains on the floor that acted as adhesive for my shoes. Crumbs and discarded sweet rappers in and around the bed. I had the room to myself so didn't complain. Settled for a decent night's rest. That's when someone came in at midnight (Sunday) and loudly stomped around, turning on all of the lights. They then took a shower and took their merry time settling into bed... For the price the rooms are not up to scratch. However, there aren't many ”cheaper” alternatives in Hamburg and the hostel (that charges hotel prices) know this. The check-in service was tedious and there's a queue at check in time. When I switched rooms to the 6 man dorm I said I wanted an early checkin to the that room if possible, and on the quiet side of the building (non motorway). They said no problem. Then, when I went to the room, it was of course on the noisy side. Went back and had to wait a couple hours longer before I could access the quieter room that I had asked for. The customer service is not great. They'll ask for your booking number even after you tell them your name. I did not feel like digging around for the number so I said my name and they searched for it (much to their distain probably).

Hotel liegt in einem schönen Stadtteil. Zunächst mal das positive und weiter unten das negative . Wir hatten das Zimmer 28 und 29 . Die Zimmer sind schön eingerichtet und haben das wichtigste drin. Zwei Flaschen Wasser gratis bei der Ankunft finde ich sehr gut. Die Zimmer hinten hatten einen Ausblick zum Garten hinten , bzw Hinterhof. Die Zimmer waren sehr ruhig , man hörte lediglich nur ab und an oben den Fußboden wenn jemand gelaufen ist. Fanden wir nicht störend. Mit gekippten Fenster eingeschlafen und morgens schön von vögeln geweckt worden . Wie erwähnt , die hinteren Zimmer sind sehr ruhig und außer Natur haben wir nichts gehört was störend gewesen wäre . Frühstück war für jeden etwas da und uns persönlich hat nichts gefehlt . Personal an der Rezeption war super freundlich und das abräumen vom Geschirr beim frühstücken war zügig , sehr fleißiger abräumer! Nun zu den negativen Sachen die aber nicht wirklich negativ sind sondern einfach nur Sachen die uns irgendwie gefehlt haben . -Parkplätze sind keine vorhanden , man muss abends wenn man zum Hotel zurück mag , erstmal Parkplatz suchen . -Putzkolonne war sehr laut , haben sich vom einem Raum zum anderen quasi angeschrien. Kann auch eine Unterhaltung gewesen sein die aber sehr laut war , wenn man sich noch ausruhen mag oder einfach mal die Stille genießen möchte ist das nicht so prickelnd . -abends mit seinem Partner unten an der Bar noch ein Wasser oder alkoholfreien Cocktail trinken ist nicht drin , es gibt keine Bar . -der Preis , wir waren dort nur schlafen und frühstücken, haben im Alsterblick Hotel reserviert und bekamen das Fenster zum Hof . Für diesen Preis würde ich nicht noch einmal kommen ohne vorher zu sagen dass ich den Alsterblick bitte für diesen Preis haben möchte . -die Minibar ist perfekt allerdings habe ich daraus nichts getrunken weil es für mich nicht kalt genug war . Ansonsten alles drin was benötigt wird . Wie bereits erwähnt sind diese negative Punkte keine Punkte die uns davon abhalten wieder zu kommen . Es sind Sachen mit denen man leben kann. Vielen Dank für die erholsamen Tage in ihrem Haus .

Ww chose Cab20 as an affordable way to stay in Hamburg close to the Hauptbahnhof. We also were keen to try the pod hotel experience. Cab20 is a boutique experience that appears to strive for high levels of comfort and design. It succeeds with both. The interior is visually stunning and very functional. It is easy to get to on foot and is close to the middle eastern restaurants in Kurt-Schumacher Allee and the trendy cafes located near Aussenalster. Our pod was comfortable, bathroom facilities are clean and well managed and the common areas are cosy and welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful. A big thanks to Moses for his friendly conversation and advice on nearby bakeries. We’d stay again!

I stayed in ”Alte Wache” hotel 2 nights for working reasons, arriving by taxi from the apt. The kindness, courtesy and service efficiency of the gentleman and the lady at the reception deserve a top rate. They both are a great example of care and warm hospitality, making every guest feel really welcomed. The lobby is nice in its old fashion style, the double room is spacious, perfectly clean and silent; breakfast was very good, and much better than some 4stars hotel: the tea blend selections very appreciated and the fresh flower on the tables a lovely, precious gift!! 2 small suggestions: 1) the morning waitress should be a little bit more smilying; 2) do not accomodate a person alone in a dinner table for 6. The hotel is also extremely close to city center (walking distance), so I really reccomend it!!

Super nice owner. Very friendly welcomed with free juice. Rooms not the most modern but clean. Bad was very good, shower relatively modern everything was clean. The location is probably the best at the hotel. 2 min to the main station,4 min to the outer elderly, street with super good varied restaurants right around the corner. Whether the hotel would not book because of the rooms but mainly because of the location. Perfect for all who want to sleep and shower only in the hotel.

Zum Preis ist das Hotel ganz okay. Das beste ist die Lage: etwa 5 Minuten zur S-Bahn und zur U-Bahn, etwa 100 m zu dem Supermarkt, der Drogerie, dem Apotheker und ganz viele Restaurants (z.B. vietnamesisches, persisches, libanesisches, türkisches) Aber bestimmt ist das Hotel nicht perfekt. Der Schreibtisch im Zimmer ist winzig und es fehlt ein Stuhl. Es gibt nur zwei Polsterhocker. So unbequem! Es gibt keinen Eisenbügel, Kaffeemacher oder Wasserkocher. Abends ist das Esszimmer bzw. Gemeinschaftraum geschlossen. Also keinen Platz für eine Besprechung oder außerhalb dem Zimmer zu arbeiten. Aber wenn man vorhat, im Zimmer nur zu schlafen und baden, dann geht es ganz gut.

From outside the hotel makes surely a super impression and the location at the Alster is also top, unfortunately it was also with the positive. As in some reviews, the hotel is now ”in the years” and the Corona time has certainly backed up this and the investments have been completely stopped. The rooms are unfortunately everything other than clean, the tape floor old and dirty, the bathroom is not cleaned, shower is calcified etc. As a direct notice at the reception, the rooms are currently ”for Corona” not cleaned... which of course makes much sense because you should probably clean more and disinfect more at the moment. If I want a cleaning, fresh towels etc. I have to register this extra. Unfortunately my room was not even before my arrival cleaned. Although fresh new bed linen were available, but since there were still old towels in the waste board, they were not even empty, which is a complete no-go for me ... Breakfast was okay, But nothing special and after 3 days you had the same three times because there was no change. Reception was sporadically occupied when the staff were not smoking at the moment. Unfortunately, there was no WiFi in the hotel, which is a bad thing as you are almost all in the building No mobile reception (both with my private and service phone, which are two different networks). Price-performance is definitely not proportional here, as it is not even a cheap hotel. It will not stay here in the future.

The beautiful, large lobby, which reflects the long history of the hotel is hugely impressive whilst the rooms are stylishly modern. My room had plenty of room for storage (often lacking in many hotels), a very comfortable double bed and an immaculate, well designed large bathroom. Breakfast offerings were exceptional and it was good (and rare) to be able to have items cooked to order. The lobby cafe/bar was pleasant but service was disappointingly slow. Although these are difficult times due to the pandemic, it was a great shame that the restaurant and bar were both closed. Given that most other hospitality premises had reopened in Hamburg, I found it odd that the hotel had not been able to open them and had not publicised that fact more openly on their website.
