This is an old-fashioned pub but the rooms were very nice and clean. Albeit somewhat small. There is some noise from the pub downstairs, but it's not too bad and it finished long before I went to bed.
Although there's no reception, you can just check in from the bottle shop.
The hotel is in a great location for shops, restaurants and cafes. It is a bit of distance from the centre of Newcastle but it's probably a busier area than the centre.

Good location with plenty of shops and restaurants around including in the hotel itself. Room great. Negative was parking and noise at night as on busy road. But id definitely stay again

It appeared to be a popular location/venue in Hamilton and well patronised.
Internally, the dining room was an absolute classic with large dining tables seating up to 8, to booths and single settings.
The building retains much of its 1877 heritage and is delightful.
Our room was contemporary and seemed to be refurbished recently.
Having our own bathroom was a bonus.
It was very well appointed.
Onto the negative. The sliding door guide wasnt replaced post carpeting and the door floated a little. The shower curtain was cut too short which let water escape from the hob.
Seriously ..... that was it.

Great room for a pub style accommodation. Good central location with plenty or restaurants and bars close by. I would happily stay again.

The only criticism qas thatvall the pillows were the same... too thin-low....but two together were too thick... some options would be good.

Highly recommend. Rooms were large, clean and comfortable. Bar fridge and everything you need. Only negative parking was hard to find.
