I met with the owner of the hotel, Mr. Jin, by accidental fate. The boss is an artist with temperature and pursuit. He has been rooted in Shishe Village for several years. He has been talking with him for a deep time. Shexuan's overall design is based on a courtyard house full of hundreds of years of history. The front hall displays painting art works. There are many treasures created by the boss himself. The second floor of the back hall is the B&B room. When you enter the door, you will see the ”Van Gogh's bedroom”. The boss painted the bedroom into Van Gogh's famous painting ”Van Gogh's Bedroom in Arles” is really shocking and impressive! This is not only a room, but also an art gallery! The window of the tea room can enjoy the mountains in the distance, ”picking chrysanthemums under the east fence, you can see the South Mountain leisurely”. The sanitary conditions of the room, the surrounding environment, and the infrastructure are all built by the boss's heart! Downstairs is the owner's own bar, each bartender has his own unique flavor characteristics. Most importantly, many homestays in China have been separated from the original intention of the concept of homestays. In Shexuan, the boss is like you are an old friend. Living here is not only for travel, but also like living in a friend's house. I think this is particularly good!

Self check-in apartment. Contact the owner and give the password. There is a deposit of 100, which will be refunded after 5 o'clock on the day of departure. The LOFT room experience is great. The house is clean and tidy. There is a refrigerator, air conditioner and projection. It is very close to Hangzhou East Station. The transportation is convenient and the subway is very convenient.

Great location , located at the edge of West Lake scenic zone . Close to public transport ( MTR and buses) Front desk team is excellent, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable ( able to provide transport and tourist attraction information ) especially Chiu Hua Room is spaces and clean with good sound proofing. Housekeeping team is always attentive to details. The restaurant setting with an outdoor section is comfortable and the breakfast variety is great, give a lot of options for different preferences.( Western / Chinese ) , waitress are friendly and helpful . Overall we enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to our friend and relatives , great value for money for a 5 star hotel .

Hotel location and services by staff were great. Particularly like that there is a laundry room in the hotel equipped with two washing machines and a dryer. Hotel staff also help to keep your laundry if you can't afford to wait for clothes to dry up. Pros: - Very convenient location, a couple of minutes walk to the West Lake. - The lobby is spotless, check in/out is smooth. - We went with a driver/tour guide (Zhu Feng) associated with the hotel who was very helpful, drove us around the lake for most of a day in pouring rain. - Bellman is very helpful with loading luggage (he needs to work out more though :). - Breakfast is good, but not great. Cons - The room is a little outdated, needs some maintenance work. - The AC is the worst. The one in our room was blasting air all day long, but can barely keep the temperate at 25 C (77 F). - The gym is pretty crappy. Looks like it's been rented out for external use, and it's not very clean or well maintained. Overall got a good bone but needs some management shakeup and remodeling.

Enjoyed our stay at Merchant Marco Edgelake Hotel (Upgraded to queen room with window). Overall, will recommend the hotel not just as a value stay but a genuine good one. Will come back if I am around. + points: Clean and spacious room, good location (Walkable to Hefang Street, West Lake, 2 metro station, multiple shopping centres with lots of youths), staff friendly (Xiao Yan gave us a free upgrade too and was very helpful), bathtubs present (Surprise for us), all basic amenities within room (Even disinfectant machine present for cups, wifi was stable) - points: Staff may promote west lake tour (Decide with your own discretion), room may be a bit dark, switches are a bit complicated to off Unknown points: Breakfast (Did not buy it)
