Over priced, and certainly over rated, especially if u have an issue,Julie the manager is a blatant liar, literally lie after lie,I had purchased 250 in gift certificates for a family member, but the waitress advertised she was unable to find them,so I said no problem, however upon getting my credit card statement, they changed my card the extra 250, upon calling immediately I was told I needed to speak w Julie, and a message would b left for her, after a month of nothing,I called back, and again nothing, upon speaking to a different manager (which she was very compassionate and great ) , Julie finally called back and I got the run around time after time, and lie after lie,I finally asked to speak w the owner and was told he's in California, but would contact me,long story short cricket cricket,I got screwed, and the food is c class at best, still waiting for a call and my money back, the food is average at best.

The food was not well prepared and the service wasn't good. For entrees that are in the $30 ballpark, you expect professional waitstaff and a kitchen that knows how to prepare the "fancy" dishes they offer. There were two servers for our table of two (not sure why?) who seemed to both be new or in training. They were really nice but came to the table way too often. One would come to the table and ask us a question, then a minute later the other would come to the table and interrupt us to ask us the same question. The food was poor to average. The shellfish appetizer was definitely overcooked, rubbery, and served with cheap grocery store rye bread. The walleye entrée was overcooked and incredibly bland. The rice pilaf with the walleye was some sort of rice and quinoa blend that had absolutely no seasoning that I could detect-- as if someone literally just boiled some rice and put it on the plate! One odd thing was that the same song kept playing on repeat while we were there. I think it was Tales from the Vienna Woods by Johann Strauss. I don't know why it was on loop, it was bizarre!

I was traveling for business this past week and came across this place. I met the manager Michelle who really took the time out to help me understand the process and the level of customer service that she provided has been the best I have ever received. She even helped me understand the area history and provided some get advice on why staying for a vacation would be a great idea for my family when we return. Over the course of my meal I watched other customers interact with Michelle and the staff. The amount of respect and kindness shown made me want to work here. She was just nice to me but to all. I spoke to the waitstaff and it appears that Michelles leadership of this place contribute to its success.

While I've been to the SET (Spread Eagle Tavern) before for dinner we decided to visit for lunch after church on Sunday. SET wasn't nearly as busy as it had been for dinner, the food was GREAT, ambiance historic and charming, and service attentive. The Classic Caesar Salad was cold, crisp, and flavorful. The Sunday Menu includes both Brunch and Entree selections. The Chicken Wellington was plump, tender, and delicious, with asparagus, for $18.00. Their Grouper Special was delicious, with broccoli. We ordered Shrimp & Crab Crepes (an Entree item) as our Appetizer to share and were not disappointed. The Shrimp & Crab Crepes and Chicken Wellington were our favorites. Cocktails can be served even on Sundays, so we sipped our adult beverages as we toured the historic building after Lunch, something that would be less leisurely during a crowded dinner seating. So, try the Sunday Brunch! The drive into the country after church is relaxing!

We stopped by Friday for dinner after several years away. After reading mixed reviews, we were wondering what to expect but I can certainly say dinner met and exceeded our expectations. I had the ***** steak and my wife had the Chilean sea bass and both were exceptional. There was a generous portion of steak and the warm black raspberry bread pudding was a fitting end to the meal. Madeline was our server and she was attentive and checked in several times to make sure we were OK. Nice place for a special occasion - we'll be back!

The restaurant is excellent. The hotel is historic but service was poor. The WiFi did not work. The desk clerk had to fix the TV to turn it on. There is no elevator nor room phone or intercom. It is historical but overpriced.
