We had a wonderful relaxing stay at Biggin Hall Hotel. The listed buildings of stone were stunning and grounds were lovely to walk around. The Tissington Trail is nearby for the more adventurous. The hotel staff were professional; reception staff were welcoming and helpful, the waiting staff friendly, very helpful and kind to our 2 dogs, who accompanied us. We sat in the glass houses for breakfast and dinner, which suited us, with our dogs. The food, both breakfast and dinner were excellent. We had complimentary packed lunches on both days of our stay; a very welcome and generous extra. We also had complimentary fresh milk, prosecco and ale in the fridge in our room. The ONLY downside to our stay was that our room was a little on the small side and in the attic, and we kept on banging our heads on the low ceiling and velux windows, when opened. I must also add, watch out for extremely hot water in the basin and bath/shower. There is a sign, but I didn't expect the water to be as hot when standing in the bath waiting for the shower to warm up. We would love to stay again, however, and next time we will choose a bigger room. Thank you to Biggin Hall.

My wife and I booked a weekend stay here and from the moment we arrived until we left we had a wonderful experience. The staff are all very friendly and efficient while not being too overbearing and nothing is too much trouble. On arrival we had complimentary bottles of beer and fizz in the fridge along with fresh milk and a large bottle of tap water. We had an evening meal the first night and the menu was varied and changes daily. The food was excellent and the ambience made for a relaxing evening. Breakfast menu is varied with continental and cooked options and the cooked food is made to order so very fresh. They even offer a complimentary packed lunch for both nights of our stay which was a great addition. All in all we couldn't fault it and will be going back.

This was our first visit. We were very impressed by the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. We were made to feel very welcome. The hotel has a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The food is excellent both in quality and quantity. A lovely touch is the packed lunch provided each day. We also very much appreciated the fridge in the room containing fresh milk and water each day as well as a beer and little prosecco on arrival. The building is old but the room was comfortable and the bathroom modern. We look forward to staying here again.

The hotel is located at the end of the village of Bigin, north of Asbourne, with the entrance roughly shared with the caravan site next door. A short driveway gets you to the parking lot outside. The whole building is made out of stone, so characteristic of the Peak District with history going back to Norman times. It has tons of character. The entrance to the reception is rather inconspicuous, you need to go down a few steps to enter. It is manned most of the day but you get an entrance code after 11pm. There is a small library and a cosy lounge where you can retire to after dinner with a drink. The front desk staff are very welcoming and friendly with checking-in done swiftly and efficiently and you’re escorted to your room by a helpful receptionist. Our room was in the main house, on the first floor, spacious and fitted in period furniture. Curtains were thick, effectively blocking the light. The sound-proofing was not up to scratch although in the house as old as this, one should probably expect lots of creaks and noises. The bed was large and very comfortable, lighting more than sufficient. Large bathroom had a walk-in shower and a large bath tub. There were tea and coffee-making facilities. WiFi signal was satisfactory. We dined both nights at the restaurant and the food was rather good, with an excellent selection of wines. Breakfast was quite standard. What sets this hotel out from its peers, are the little touches. Everything was done thoughtfully and with appreciation for the guests: from welcoming drinks in the room, packed complimentary lunches and bottles of water to maps and suggestions on visits in the locality. All staff were friendly and happy, a sure sign of good management. We really enjoyed our stay at Biggin Hall.

Second visit. Stayed 2 nights with my elderly mum. 2 rooms in the courtyard. Rooms were great & super bathrooms. Staff simply the best. Food & service top class. As good as our first stay. This is how a country hotel should be run. Lovely stay. Will be back.
