I was a guest at Days Inn Hays on Sunday, June 16, 2024. I was assigned to room 134, and for the most part the stay was great. However, when I woke up on the morning of Monday, June 17 I discovered that the bathroom trash was almost overflowing. The trash can is located outside of the bathroom in a separate vanity area, and it was tucked under the vanity. So, unless you pulled it out from under the counter you couldn’t have seen it was full. I threw a q-tip away, and when it didn’t fall into the trashcan I pulled the can out. There was a container of leftover food, plates, napkins, and various other items underneath. I had stepped on a cigar wrapper the night before, but I just picked it up and figured the vacuum missed it. When I saw the trash can I knew that my room hadn’t been cleaned before we stayed in it. When I came to the front desk to speak with the manager about this he simply told me that housekeeping was overwhelmed, and he apologized. He also told me that the system was down, and I could call later that day to process a refund. I have called the hotel 4 times looking to speak to the manager and each time I have been told he is unavailable. I have left messages with staff members, but I never heard back. I sent an email to the front desk, and to the manager, but that has also been ignored. I am disgusted that this hotel not only let me and my child sleep in a room that wasn’t cleaned, but I am shocked at the lack of response, and the unwillingness to remedy the situation.

Ok the road construction is a mess. That is not the hotels fault so negative there but good grief Kansas your “new”round-a-bouts are way worse than Colorado and there’s are dreadful.
The hotel. Our room was very clean. Comfortable chairs. Bed was really comfy and that’s is a difficult one for me to like. Overall I loved my stay less the stupid construction.

At first, was taken aback by the size of the room but Melissa at the front desk explained the hotel brands concept. The price for the room was very reasonable, the room nice and clean with an extra large t v. The lobby was spacious and well kept, the exercise room was adequate and it appeared to have a nice indoor pool. What really made the stay was how friendly Melissa and Ricardo were. Every hotel should have people that polite and professional working its front desk. If you’re just passing through for an evening or two, I highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent
I had a great experience at this hotel. It was clean, nice interior and friendly staff. Of special note was the wonderful breakfast. Ruth was the attendant and when I asked her about the delicious biscuits and gravy, she said they add special touches to it. Seriously it was tasty. When I asked Ruth about where the decaf coffee was, she said she would make a couple cups for me. She actually offered. Great service and much appreciated.
We usually expect more in terms of door noise control and maintenance from Hampton hotels (details below). Other things were good…the breakfast was good / what I would expect at a Hampton (well stocked; cut up melons in addition to the standard apples, bananas, oranges; sliced smoked sausage; nicer muffins/scones than at other hotels; two flavors of waffle batter; etc.). The room we stayed in (221) was a nice setup (plenty of room, couch area, comfy bed, huge big screen TV, clean); however, it needed some maintenance and upgraded door design. Because these were significantly lower quality than we expect at a Hampton (especially the door noise and the hot water issue), we gave a two star review. Here are things we would have preferred be different: 1. The doors in this hotel slammed shut really loudly and created quite a noisy place. We heard many doors slam shut as we were in our room that one night stay. It wasn’t people purposely slamming the doors…the doors (including ours) would slam loudly if you just let it shut on its own. You could see light from the hallway at the door edges (i.e., they did not seal well against the door frame) so sound could travel through that air space well. It would have been more like other Hamptons we’ve stayed at if the doors were buffered more. For this reason alone, we will likely look for a different hotel next time. (We expect loud doors at other hotel chains, just not Hampton.) 2. The hot water at the sink was all but nonexistent in our room (just the slightest trickle of water when the handle was positioned on the hot water side…way too small to be usable), which we didn’t notice until late at night (about 11:15pm) and we didn’t want to ask to switch rooms that late. We reported it next morning to the front desk, and they gave us a discount (20%). Hopefully they also fixed the hot water in that room before renting it to another guest. 3. The toilet didn’t flush normally…had to hold the flusher handle down for at least 10 seconds to get the water to flow enough to flush, but at least it would flush if we stood there holding the handle down until the flushing was finished. 4. The bathroom door didn’t latch closed so it could be just pushed open by someone touching the door and it couldn’t be locked because even if you engaged the lock, it didn’t work because the door didn’t latch for the lock to be effective. 5. The lighting in the room was ok, but wasn’t as good in the room as other Hamptons we’ve been at. 6. The wall had a temperature controller, but it wasn’t setup to work. Instead, the air was controlled by the controls on a window a/c / heater unit. The front desk rep was very pleasant and apologetic with us when we reported the bathroom issues, and he agreed to our request to a discount (gave us a 20% discount).
I traveled with my friend and we decided to stay in Hays Kansas we saw online that it's an AmericInn By Wyndham and we called the property directly. The clerks name was Chase, and he gave me the best rate on a busy night. When we got to the room it was very nice and clean. The gym, pool, and the breakfast were all great, along with the staff! I will definitely be staying here again, and recommending this property to my friends.
DDeanLewis47I am a gold member of choice hotels and often stay at Econo Lodges across the USA. This is one of the best. Sean Patel, the owner/manager, has a great way of engaging the customer and made me feel right at home. He has an eye to detail on every facet of the motel and makes sure everything is up to scratch. The bed was King and very comfortable. The room was spotless and everything worked as it should. The breakfast was eggs and sausage for a top-end protein start to the day. Would hope to come through Hays, Kansas again and stay there.

GGuest UserWhen I first entered the property it smelled just awful. It was as if everyone was smoking, and making spicy meals in their rooms. The check in agent had a difficult time understanding me, and vice versa. He took my card back into some back room for a very, very long time - I did not like that! This was a place for men that work road crews or men working in construction, most of whick didn't speak english. The real clincher came when I went to the room. I just stood there for awhile because I couldn't believe the condition of this room. It appeared as though someone has just been in the room. The toilet wasn't cleaned, the showever had hair and other items in it. The sink had water spots all over it, and the one hand towel had been used and then hung there. i retuned the key card, folded, and told the desk person that I just could not stay there - I was not about to stand there one more minute to try and get a refund. As a female solo traveler I knew I could not, would not, stay at this location. I had to find another place, which I did, thankfully there was one open room at one of the newer hotels in Hays that would accept my small dog. This was set up via ***********, I can't believe they have it as an option. I have asked them to get my money back, but doubtful that will happen. WARNING LADIES - YOU DO NOT WANT TO STAY THERE.
