Very Good

I stayed here on a solo trip. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They were kind enough to help me with the translation on my smartphone. The room is simple. It has everything I need, so there is no inconvenience. There are tourist attractions within walking distance, so I just used Grab when I got tired. The road in front of the hotel is not accessible by car, so you have to walk a little to the street when you need a Grab. There are several breakfast options, but they are simple. On the last day, I returned home on a late-night flight, but I was able to use the shower. However, you shouldn't expect too much from the shower. It's just good enough to wash off the sweat. Also, on the last day, I left my luggage and went out, but I remembered that I had left my watch in the room on the way, so I thought they would give it to me when I returned, but the staff didn't seem to know until I told them. They seemed to have looked for it after that, and I found it, but I'm a little disappointed that it would not have come out if I hadn't pointed it out, even though it was my mistake.

The price is OK in the center of Vietnam. There are ants on the bed The wifi is too bad But the location, quietness, front desk and breakfast are all very good

Response from Property: Hello, sorry. Because of the change in weather, ants appeared. Moreover, there are too many tourists using wifi, resulting in poor connection. We will improve it. Thank you.

This is a centrally located hotel with excellent customer service you’re in the heart of the local community. it situated in an area where you see the day-to-day life of working Vietnamese people. the customer service was excellent and the room was immaculate with a wonderful air conditioner and great bed. Highly recommend coming here to stay.

What a relief it was to find this lovely little hotel, after an horendous experience at a supposed luxury apartment that cost us a day and a half of our 3 days in Ho Chi Min. We found Ben Thanh Retreats Hotel on a booking site, and decided to come and have a look first. We didn't hesitate, and booked it immediately. We had a wonderful welcome from the fabulous Hong who works on the front desk. This girl is an absolute gun, and she goes out of her way to help you. She has been our saviour. She directed me to the best Bahn Mi place, only 2 minutes walk - yes it was awesome, and also a fantastic place for Pho Ga (chicken pho). She helped me with a million other things and just didn't hesitate. The rooms are immaculately clean; very spacious and the walk-in shower is huge. For the small price (for Ho Chi Min City) of AUD$60 per night - in October, 2023, we also got a welcome beer, and breakfast, which was amazing really. Travelling buddy had a terrific omlette served with a hot, crunchy baquette, and I had the fried rice which was fantastic (with a bit of soy and fresh Chilli). The lady who cooks is just gorgeous - always smiling, happy and will have a laugh with you. ALL the staff here are super, super helpful. Can't fault them. Whilst the rooms may seem to some a little old fashioned, they are very comfortable, and have everything you need. We couldn't believe how spotless everything is, including the completely mirrored lift, that doesn't have a mark on it. Even though it's located down a little lane, once you get your bearings it's very easy to find and you can hardly hear the eleventy-seven million motor bikes that whizz around this busy city! I'd come back here in a heartbeat. Thanks Hong and all the staff here. We loved it. You have been fantastic.

Wow, what a great place. The location cannot be beat, close enough to everything but no noise from crazy karaoke bars and traffic. Its hidden down some really cool lanes. The room is well equipped and large. You have a choice of breakfasts, although the pho was crossed out during our stay :-( The staff are super friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. There is a little sitting area at the front and a couple of rooms have balconies. I will stay here again.

Fantastic hotel! Great location not far from the main sights but in a quiet but safe location. Rooms were great, air conditioning excellent. Fantastic freshly cooked breakfast. Staff (especially “Mr Slave”) were amazing – happy to provide advice, arrange tours, taxis, etc. Well recommended!

It's a well located hotel with amazing friendly staff. The rooms are very spacious with plenty of storage. Breakfast is plentiful and tasty. The stand out are the staff because they are genuinely friendly and helpful. It is incredible value. Just a couple of things to note, during the day when we were there, the neighbouring property was having some building work done but no noise at night or early morning. It's worth bearing in mind that there is no access for cars right outside so there is about a 40m walk.

To the hotel itself we say the following: We knew that we would not find a palace for the price we paid and we accepted the place for what it was. We would call it a guesthouse rather than a hotel due to the personal atmosphere. The room was just as described, spacious and clean. The bathroom had a big shower, a small wash basin and a toilet in which you were not supposed to throw toilet paper. Being on the 1st floor meant that one could look into the neighbor’s windows and vice versa but there were curtains to avoid that. The location in the back alley seemed safe and when we first went out we were accompanied by a young man who showed us the immediate area which was helpful and appreciated. We had omelet, bread and fruit for breakfast and probably could have ordered something else but we felt intimidated from the events on the previous day. We booked this hotel for 4 nights and for the only reason that the reviews were excellent especially regarding the host. Unfortunately our experience was nothing like the glowing reviews describe. When we arrived we couldn’t get the Wi-Fi working in the room but the manager solved the problem quickly. According to the pricelist in the room there should have been 2 bottles of beer in the fridge which were missing. We tried to point it out to the person who showed us the room but had the feeling that he didn’t understand what we meant. When we had made the reservation we had asked to be on a higher floor and this room was on the 1st. The manager explained that he had only received that request on the day of our arrival and that we could move the next day which was fine with us. We hadn’t even mentioned that request. A few hours later we found that we couldn’t get hot water whichever way we turned the tap and neither could the manager when we called him. He got a plumber who found after a short visit that the hot water was working after all when the tap was turned anti-clock wise. By then the manager was deeply upset and blamed us for having to call the plumber. He got very aggravated, telling us that we were not nice people and that we should find another hotel and he would arrange for us to be reimbursed for the 3 nights. We couldn’t reason with him as he would not listen to anything we tried to explain. After many years of travelling this was an amazing first experience being thrown out of a hotel. After his promise of the refund we went ahead and booked a room for the next 3 nights in another hotel. The next morning the manager tried to get in touch with ******* to arrange for the refund even though we told him that we had booked with Stayforlong. He couldn’t get hold of anybody, neither could we. After several emails from our side to the company and the manager we were informed 2 ½ weeks later that the refund was denied with the following remark: “Please note that our supplier has responded. They have informed us that they were unable to secure an agreement from the property to your request. We are sorr

I just had an excellent stay at Ben Thanh Retreats Hotel for 6 nights. My room (402) was massive, clean and comfortable. The aircon works well and there is a tv and faultless wifi. The breakfasts are cooked to order and are really excellent. The staff could not be more lovely, and will go out of their way to help you. The location is great. Easy walking to many of the main sights, and set in an alley way that offers some relief from the exceedingly busy Saigon roads. I should add that the alley, whatever time of day or night always felt very safe, even as a solo female traveller. Excellent value for money and i cannot recommend this hotel enough. A true little gem!

Good location, very walkable area close to the main sights in HCMC and tucked away in a narrow side street with no noisy traffic and plenty restaurants, mini marts, street stalls and shops within a 2 block radius. The room was simple but well featured and the bed was firm, but more comfortable than most in Vietnam. The owners were very friendly and helpful and provided luggage minding and a much appreciated clean shower at the end of our last day in HCMC before boarding our late night train.

Staying here is a more personalised experience. You get to know the staff, they go out of their way to help. Rooms are large, a strong focus on cleanliness. GREAT BREAKFAST. Good location. All at a budget rate. After enjoying my first stay, I returned for my last 2 nights in Saigon. Just couldn’t go any where else
