We've been to the Pigs several times but this time, for the first time, for our five-year anniversary, we stayed in the Wallow, one of the biggest and most luxurious rooms on offer. We had to book over a year in advance to be sure of the date we wanted! In this room you can check in an hour earlier than usual, at 2pm, which we took advantage of, even arriving 10 minutes early! We were very warmly welcomed and I was particularly delighted to find the Pigspa Bar, where you can help yourself to free tasters of the Pigspa products to take to your room. More on this later. Before I go into a description of the palatial space that is the Wallow, I do need to note that when we arrived we were shocked to find a man on the roof banging away at something. We called down to reception and they promised to investigate; meanwhile we spoke to the chap on the roof who said he had been told he could continue works until 3pm. He stopped straight away, in fairness, and reception called back very apologetically. It wasn't the best start, but at least it was straightened out pretty quickly! The room is just ridiculous, and I mean that in a good way. On entering, the toilet is immediately to the left, and you then walk into the spa area, featuring two sinks, sauna, steam room, rainfall shower, roll-top bath and dressing table. There is then a corridor with sofa leading through to the bedroom area, with a huge comfy bed, smart TV, tea and coffee making facilities, fridge and dining table with 2 chairs. There is an outside space next to the corridor where the hot tub is located (under a glass roof so you are protected from the elements) as well as a fire pit with two wooden reclining chairs. You are provided with dressing gowns and slippers, as well as the lovely Pigspa products to use while there (bath and shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and hand cream). We honestly felt a bit spoilt for choice as to where to start, but began by getting the steam room and sauna warming up so we could move between them. Both were lovely. We've tried the steam rooms in the spa suites before and have been put off by finding them damp and a little smelly, but in the Wallow it was perfect. I also really love the sauna at the Pigs because you are provided with scented oils which really add to the experience and also because there is an in-sauna speaker so you can play your music in there via Bluetooth. After taking full advantage of these and cooling off in the rainfall shower inbetween times, we ordered a couple of glasses of prosecco (brought within minutes after ordering online using the QR code) and hopped into the hot tub, which is also heavenly. As the Wallow is right at the back corner of The Pigs, it feels very secluded and private. We followed up our prosecco with a pre-dinner drink - local draught lager for my partner, and a Tipsy Pig for me - which was very strong but very, very tasty. Loved the little pig sweetie on the cocktail stick! We didn't book a table for dinner
