Not brilliant. Bit disappointing. Emailed the property requesting a table the day before upon booking. Didn't get an answer and told we would have to eat in the bar which on itself wasn't the end of the world. Then told there would be no breakfasts. Just after finishing the main we asked for dessert and told too late. It would take seconds to put a slice of crumble in a dish. Especially as the chef was still there. The milk in the room was three weeks out date. The food we did have was quite nice. But all in all the hospitality left a lot to be desired.

With the exception of Laura, who was excellent, the remainder was average at best.

Wouldn't stay here again The room wasn't clean, the bathroom sink and table with the kettle hadn't been cleaned since the last guest. I asked for more teabags and got a handful presented to me in a dirty hand. The food was poorly cooked pub style, straight out the freezer. I was there a few nights and had a pizza delivered the last evening. I wanted to like the place but couldn't

Today we travelled from Byfleet Village stopping off at Alton, before travelling on to The Poacher inn for lunch. We were made very welcome, and the food was absolutely delicious. I settled for the Steak and ale pie which was lovely the meat was so tender and along with the gravy it certainly passed my test. Rosemary had the fish and chips which was also very nice, but found the batter a little to crispy, but never the less she still enjoyed it. The inn is well worth a visit, you will not be disappointed. Once again may we pass on our thanks to you all From Ray, Rosemary, and our dog Susie.

We were a large pre-booked/ordered group for Sunday lunch - and had been given the choice of only beef or chicken. We were asked to buy our drinks @ the bar before going to our tables. Food came out quite quickly - apart from the vegetarian option which arrived 15 minutes later. For £17.50 I had one slice of beef the size of my palm, plus veg's (missing the peas) and a Yorkshire. Plates were cleared and then ... nothing! A group member went and asked for a dessert menu; there were x4 options, x3 of which came with vanilla ice-cream "but we haven't any vanilla ice-cream". Then she went to ask them to come and take tea & coffee orders, "sorry the coffee machine is broken". "And by the way the Ladies toilet is out of order." I asked them to remove the 10% service charge. Such a disappointment.
