The environment inside the hotel is very clean and tidy There is sufficient heating, hot water and water in the room There is a walking trail near the hotel for easy going up the mountain to watch the sunrise👍🏻

I camped for the first time in years. The site is huge so you can get away from everything for a while. The facilities for campers are a few toilets and showers and a kitchen with sinks and a large fridge. You can also use all the hostel facilities. Campers can't access the main building between 11pm and 7.30am. I had a great time and would recommend camping at a YHA, particularly in bad weather as you can dry all your stuff in the drying room.

This isn't our first stay at a YHA but our first visit here. While it doesn't have the bells and whistles of York, for example, it was a brilliant stay. The staff were exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to help. The menu at York, for example, is more of a wish list. When ordering you always start by asking what they have available. However, here the food was delicious and always available. The ordering was easy and the time to come to table super quick, with any delays relayed to us before we ordered. Our room was clean but definitely needed a repaint and some fixing up (it was very tired) but it was super-clean and everything worked well. We had a few tiny issues and all of these dealt with very quickly. There were lots of maps providing details of the area and walks for all abilities. We met some lovely people here as well. The only issue was with connectivity - we had none - despite our best efforts. We were here to go climbing. However, we will be back to better explore the area as it so well situated in the Peaks. A real find.

We really enjoyed staying in the bell tent, cooking on a fire and the picturesque scenery around the campsite. We also appreciated the facilities of a toilet, warm shower and kitchen. The hostel was safe, welcoming and well located. Would highly recommend.

The facilities are great, lots of space to sit inside and outside. The self catering kitchen is large and well equipped. Comfortable clean functional bedrooms.

Bell tent well equipped with stunning views. The toilet did not have a sink for washing hands and had a mousetrap (eek). The shower had no window or extractor - door could not be left open to air due to resident sheep, who also liked to drink the toilet water. Kitchen facility in the old camping barn was adequately equipped, but a little dusty and care needs to be paid to keep the door shut and the sheep out. Inside the main hall, the kitchen was huge - best of all properties visited to date. Reception seemed short-staffed, so long wait for drinks or to ask for games.

This was a beautiful peaceful place to camp. And I enjoyed the sounds of animals and nature all around me when waking and going to sleep. The facilities are excellent for campers to clean up and get refreshed. Unfortunately the hostel is not open early in the morning to campers so my continental breakfast almost went unclaimed as I had to leave very early to walk to Hope station on a Sunday morning.

Great location, hostel is half a mile off the road in its own grounds. 5 minute bus journey from Hope railway station with a bus stop at end of the drive. Comfortable clean functional bedrooms. Cooked breakfast & evening meals can be purchased. Pleasant helpful staff. From the rear of the property you can walk by footpath into Castleton for the castle, caves, tearooms, etc., or venture straight out on foot into the Dales or up to Mam Tor and onto the Pennine Way. Some building renovation needed in places, but overall ideally located, comfortable & great value for money.

Camped here on the second bank holiday in May, I was really surprised there was space but there’s a massive camping area and only a few tents. Easy to pitch as nice soft ground. The healthiest goat I’ve ever seen and friendly too. The facilities are great, lots of space to sit inside and outside. The self catering kitchen is large and has ell equipped. I marked a star down because you can’t get into the self catering kitchen after 10 and until 7 if you’re not staying inside. The outside kitchen is ok with a fridge and sinks but nowhere to cook if you don’t bring your own stove (which I could have done had I known). The outside toilets and showers are excellent. Look new and are open all night. The location is excellent for walks/cycles etc. we actually used one of the suggested walks but did it backwards so we ended up in Castleton. Overall, I would definitely stay here again. It was cheap to camp too.
