Chongqing Hostels

I stayed at this hostel for 7 days and was very happy with my experience. From the start, I felt welcomed and well taken care of. The host is extremely knowledgeable about Chongqing and always available to help. Communication was easy and convenient through WeChat, and they were even kind enough to wait for me until 1:30 am since my flight landed very late (even though the latest check-in time is usually midnight). Important to note for future visitors: this is not a party hostel. Guests respect the rules and keep quiet, which means showering and other activities should be finished before midnight. Personally, I really liked this, as it created a very comfortable and peaceful living environment. The facilities were also great — the showers were clean and of good quality, with free soap and shampoo provided. Towels were also included at no extra cost, and laundry could be done for just 5 or 8 yuan. The hostel is conveniently located too: about 15 minutes on foot to the main shopping area and 20 minutes to Hongyadong. Overall, it’s a well-managed hostel with everything you need for a comfortable stay. I would definitely come back again! The only small improvement I could suggest would be adding hand soap dispensers in the bathrooms, as currently there is only one block of soap. Having dispensers would make it even more hygienic.

It’s the best hostel I’ve been in so far. The owners are really friendly and provide you with some fresh homemade bread. The rooms and the amenities are clean and there are two sit down toilets. It’s close to the city centre, the night market and the metro. They also provide some helpful recommendations for restaurants and activities. Another big bonus is the rooftop terrace and the little balcony in the second floor. It’s a very social hostel and there is always something to do. I would really recommend this place!

🚗For self-driving trips, a hotel with parking is the top choice. This one has parking right at the entrance. The parking lot isn't great, but it's convenient. 🚶 The hotel is conveniently located, just a few minutes' walk from the visitor center, where you can take the scenic bus to the Puhua Underground River. You can also visit the covered bridge and explore the ancient town. 🏠 I stayed in a standard room on the second floor. The beds were one 1.1 meters and one 1.2 meters, not the 1.3 meters listed online. Cleanliness was average, and the room had a slightly musty smell, likely due to the recent heavy rains. 🍽️ There are plenty of restaurants nearby, but I didn't find any good ones. The Qianjiang chicken offal hotpot, at 98 yuan, is actually less expensive than the 58 yuan in the main city. The noodle shop's seasoning wasn't very fragrant, and the mung bean noodles were a bit hard and tough. 📄 Overall, for a one-night stay with no high standards, I recommend this hotel.

The location is great for terminal 2 of the airport (not so much for terminal 3 The bed itself was good quality, with proper privacy curtain, plugs, and a personal light. The shower toilet was big, and it had a separate wet area so you can keep your stuff in the room while showering. WiFi was OK. The windows of the building are terrible, so it was extremely noisy from both cars and planes. It also didn't stop the cold weather, and heating wasn't provided, so it was extremely cold in the room...

The overall environment is decent, and the facilities are comprehensive enough to meet basic accommodation needs. Soundproofing isn't great, so there's occasional noise, but the location is convenient and the price is reasonable. It's perfectly fine for a short, casual stay. The cleanliness is spot on, the space is generous and doesn't feel cramped, and there are plenty of dining and shopping options nearby. The service attitude is friendly, and it offers good value for money. It was a very pleasant experience for a short trip, and I'd recommend it.

Roof deck. Amazing large roof deck with amazing large view of the Chongqing skyline. Lucky if you find yourself here. Authentic neighborhood, authentic building, super cheap price for what this place is- a well positioned, homey, comfortable stay with a very friendly host. Chongqing known for confusion with navigation- this place is mad easy- lines up with the cross-river tourist cable car, is 10-15 minute walk to metro stop (Shangxinjie, Line 6. And I think it might have been this metro station that I was able to get a metro card good for near-all cities in China; convenient..) . Pretty much same distance to the bridge to walk over the Yangtze River. Convenient store with fruit at bottom of steps. Plenty of neighborhood restaurants. It was a place I found hard to leave. Lots of stairs in Chongqing.

1. The curtains on the top bunk let in light, and I suspect it's not just the top bunk; the bottom bunk curtains are also too short. 2. The headboards on the beds are covered in this stuff, looks really dirty. Basic hygiene standards weren't met. 3. There were no bath towels in the room. I asked friends who'd stayed here before, and they said you have to request them yourself, and they're very small. 4. No toiletries were provided in the bathroom, just one bottle of Head & Shoulders that might have been left by a previous guest. 5. The hairdryer was awful, very weak airflow. 6. At night, I could hear the sound of some machinery running in the room; it was very noisy and really affected my sleep. 7. Perhaps it's because they have cats, but the whole hostel smelled terrible. I won't say more. Overall, the experience was very poor, and I won't be coming back. The price was low, so I'm not giving an extremely low rating.

The room is on the 18th floor, room 1815. The owner responds quickly to messages and is easy to contact. The location is good with many restaurants and a food court downstairs. Several bus lines pass by. Cleanliness is acceptable; the toilet and shower are separate. The room is large and the bed is comfortable and clean.

I really love how clean and hygienic this hostel is! The owner cleans every day, haha. I just ate, and then I received some fried noodles from my aunt and uncle, and clothes were hanging up to dry. It's so kind of them!

Very difficult to find, it is on the top floor of an apartment building and there are no signs to indicate it is there until you have got out the elevator and walked up 2 flights of stairs. Make sure you reach out to the owner before arriving and he will be able to help you and speaks great English. We didn’t do this and found out the hard way! Owner was very friendly, able to book trips for us and recommend things to do. In a great location. You get what you pay for, but this was a great budget option!
