We stayed at Hotel Associa Takayama Resort as part of our tour group. We had a spacious twin room on the 15th floor of the Alps Wing which was the largest room of our tour. The room was very comfortable as were the beds. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The resort is on the outskirts of Takayama but there is a shuttle bus into the centre of the city. There are limited restaurants in the hotel and 2 of them were booked out by the time we arrived. We managed to book into the Japanese restaurant and had a delicious meal there. The breakfast buffet didn't have cereal. There was a laundromat on the ground floor which consisted of a number of combined washing machine/dryers which dispensed their own detergent.

Location is convenient and overall service is good but there are better choices around definitely. Dinner and breakfast spread quite limited. Nice view of the garden but on 2 occasions the elderly Japanese just ignored the reserved tag I placed on the table and took my seats… suggest to place a more visible belongings to reserve it. Western room is adequate 18sqm. Poor noise cancellation as noise echos 20m down the hallways, metal room doors slamming, chairs dragging and phone vibrates in the next room can be heard. Not recommended if you’re a light or early sleeper, especially guests moving in/out along the corridors to take onsen bath. The hotel also hosts tour groups. Witnessed a tour group of Europeans. Koreans speaking on phone at hallways…etc.

The atmosphere of the inn was very good, but to get to the room, I had to change elevators twice, walk a long corridor, and finally take the stairs to the upper floor. It is necessary to walk in the opposite direction each time to go to the public bath and to eat. It is difficult for the elderly and those with weak legs. We used the early bird reservation and national travel support to stay cheaper than usual, so I wondered if it was the furthest room (laughs). I couldn't take a long bath slowly, but the person in charge was just checking the temperature, so when I asked, the open-air bath was 42.9 degrees. A small child with a family shouted ”hot, hot” and left early. After all, I only entered the large public bath once, and after that, I adjusted the temperature of the bath in the room. One more thing, all three hair dryers in the public bath did not work even when I pressed the button, so I used the one in the room. When I asked my wife, she said, ``I couldn't use it at first, but someone else told me to use it by pressing the other switch at the back.'' I couldn't use it, maybe it's my fault, I wanted you to write a manual (sorry if I overlooked it)

This hotel provided great service and clean accommodations. I love that hotels in Japan provide pajamas and toothbrushes. This hotel had two public baths. It's nice that they have one bath where the water is not as hot. We had the dinner buffet. It included American and chinese offerings. You receive a ticket for one serving of the Hida beef. I thought the food was good. I like that the portions are small, so you can try a lot of things. We also had the breakfast buffet which included Takayama specialty items too. There is a large souvenir shop in the hotel, so you are able to pick up gifts. I thought the prices are comparable to other gift shops. The hotel offers a free shuttle to the train station. It is a 7 minute walk to the train station, so it's not so bad. They only have two shuttles that go to Takayama Jinya (government house) which is across the bridge from Sanmachi Suji. Otherwise it's at least a 20-25 minute walk. I wish they had more shuttles to that area. There is not much to look at on the way from the hotel to Sanmachi. As Takayama becomes more popular with tourists, most of the hotel staff and store owners are able to communicate in English. Overall, I enjoyed my time at the hotel and would stay there again.

A new hotel just built in front of Takayama station. It is a stay type hotel, but artists are decorated everywhere and fashionable. This time, Superior twin. The room itself is not particularly characteristic, but there is a sofa on the window side and it can be relaxed. This sofa is a bed, so you can stay for three people. Electric pots, empty refrigerators, washing dryers, microwave ovens, etc. are also complete. Recommended for long stay. The bathroom is small in the unit. Especially the toilet is small. There is a comfortable public bath, so I wanted to relax the toilet part only by shower. Amenities are only toothbrushes, and amenities are available on the first floor. Shaving, brush, tea bags such as tea and green tea, cosmetics, cotton swabs, cotton, etc. The public bath is also fashionable with designer specifications. There is also an open-air bath. You can enjoy two different design hot springs in the men and women replacement system. The atmosphere is like a public bath in a luxury inn. It doesn't seem to be in front of the station. There are also view lounges and foot baths on the top floor. Convenient location and recommended for sightseeing and business. The staff has a level difference depending on the person. Because it is a new hotel, is it possible?

I was quite disappointed by the services of this hotel. It should mention it’s a self-help apartment instead of call itself a hotel so that customers’s expectations won’t be mismatched. No hotel service provided here like no towel changing, no room tidying up service, etc. my room is a tatami room, I have to set up 4 tatami beds all by myself.
when I tried to book for breakfast, the staff told me it’s full, when I tried to book the carpark, staff giving unclear information and made me failed to book upon my arrival. I arrived earlier to book for carpark, the staff said the reservation for carpark will be opened at 3pm. When I arrived at 5pm, the carpark is full. Then I asked if I could book the carpark for tomorrow, the staff said cannot book now, I asked when is the carpark slot opened for reserve, the receptionist said 10am. Really confusing ……. Staff can’t communicate in English but they will use the translation machine. Pros side is the Room is spacious but with if you are looking for hotel it’s not, better call it a self help apartment

Incredible value!! For $100 USD a night, I got a wonderful room, laundry facilities, breakfast and happy hour, and an amazing Japanese bath/spa complete with popsicles. I doubled my time here because it was the best value hotel I stayed in on my Japan trip (I also stayed at the Conrad Tokyo!) - I would go back in a heartbeat. Super helpful and friendly staff, the best location in Takayama, and an amazing vibe. Just stay!

This place was unexpected. We wanted to be in the center of town and have Western beds and booking from afar was a bit difficult so we found this online and went for it. We arrived and found a sort of dated but comfortable hotel with lovely staff. It was a bit formal with lots of rules about set menus and what time breakfast would be served. But the instructions were in English and the manager/owner and all the help were very helpful.

The hotel is nice, close to the Station, on a quiet street. It is on the other side from the old town, but it gives the place more quiet. I really appreciated the coffee machine in the morning, that made good, strony coffee. The „morning box” for breakfast was quite substantial. The hotel otherwise advised they don’t serce meals. There is a lounge for use during the day and an onsen that can be reserved for half an hour. I had a big room with it’s own onsen bath (main reason why i chose that hotel). Still it was a bit expensive for what it was. I also did not appreciate the comments made about why when i’m traveling alone i got such a room. But the people were generally quite nice.

GGuest UserExtremely well located if you want to be right next to the train station and bus station - my room overlooked the tracks. Provision of washing machine and dryer is a superb bonus inroom as are the full cooking facilities. The hotel intelligently provides basics such as oil, salt, coffee, tea and even a couple of detergent sachets for the washing. Strangelt though, no knives or other cutting implements of any kind. A tip if you intent to cook. The Family Mart opposite is basic, but there is a huge supermarket under the tracks and just beyond MacDonalds where you can get international food as well as Japanese. Slightly dreary corridors and a reception crowded with people waiting for their room to become available. But on the plus side they let me into my room early as I was unwell at the time.
GGuest UserFrom the time I arrived by car to the time I checked in, I felt a welcome hospitality. There was a coffee service in the lobby lounge. The room was a room plan, and it was a Japanese room 8 tatami & wide edge. In the inn, as I spent almost on the wide edge with a chair, the window was small facing the parking lot, the ceiling was diagonal, and the head hit the threshold, so I said this room might be a translation. The Japanese room was normal, and the room had two keys and Wi-Fi. yukata can be selected for women. There is also cold water and electric pot. The bath was a source of Ni kind, with an open-air bath of sulfur spring and simple spring, and there were two open-air baths and two cherry blossom baths. From the simple spring of the open-air bath, the mountain of Hotaka 々 was desired. The inner bath is sulfur spring. The hot water flowers are sinking. The open-air bath was also large and impressed with the very good hot spring. The laundry wash area has amenities. Dinner was in the large hall and the space between tables was also sufficient. The Hotaka Kai seat was satisfied. Especially the cold tea bowl steaming of HIDA milk and HIDA mozzarella and the pottery plate baking of HIDA beef were especially delicious. Also dessert (cheese cake, caramel pudding was delicious, HIDA melon and pine were sweet. sake was first asked for a cold sake of local sake, but later, a cold sake of local sake was 3 books and is currently discounted at 2000 I noticed that there was a circle later and I had a 3 book set. I enjoyed the difference between the sake 3 seeds and each taste. The meal attendant feels good, and the chakkaman is also on the table. So it was good to bake meat or bake at your favorite time. Breakfast was the same venue. If you are young, you may not have a volume, but it was a good amount for us in mature years. There is also coffee and tea service. It is a hotel in front of the ropeway in Hotaka. I thought it was good to stay at a hotel with good hot springs, meals and customer service, and to come far.
LLhamo Dolma HollandGood location nearby the trainstation & bus station too! The rooms are relatively small but manageable. Breakfast is included; a Japanese style breakfast, tasty!
Opposite of the hotel also a very charming Cafe.
And from the hotel also easy to discover the area and walk around! The staff was friendly but the hotel is more set-up as to do it yourself! There is a public bath with different times for men & women. And you can choose your pillow. In the public area downstairs there are some vending machines and some drinks are free!
Good deal for that price!
Set up a steep little road above the beautiful town of Takayama is the lovely Ryokan Hoshokaku. You’ll be greeted at the door and after removing your shoes, your host will guide you through your stay, meals and the use of the onsen before giving you your key to the room. Please take the opportunity to immerse yourself into this traditional inn. The meals are amazing, possibly the best we ate in all of Japan and the onsen is relaxing & peaceful. Thank you to the wonderful staff for making our stay memorable.
TthetravellinghopiaCountry Hotel Takayama is the perfect home away from home in Takayama, Gifu Japan. This hotel is located right across the Nohi Bus Terminal which is right beside to Takayama Train Station. When you get off from the bus, you will immediately see the building. Aside from their perfect location, this hotel also has a KONBINI (are Japanese convenience stores) Family Mart at the ground floor, open 24 hours. Morning markets, Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, Old Town Street, Hida Kokubunji Temple and Nakabashi bridge are a few tourist location you can easily access by walking (10-15 minutes) from the hotel. I was here last February 24 to 26, 2020. The room is quite spacious for me, got a single room type but I think it can accommodate 2 people in it. I was able to booked it online through Agoda.com for Php 4,024.78, not bad! It has complete basic amenities you can find in a room including a comfy sleeping robe. Room is super clean and smells so good. Considering I wrongly booked the smoking type room. The only downside I had about the room was that the heater was broken. It was so hot inside, thanked God it was winter time so I just slightly opened my window. So cold breeze from the outside can get in. Overall, Country Hotel Takayama is HIGHLY RECOMMEND aside from their perfect location. Staff are very good, speaks English and really helpful and accommodating. Their Manager helped me booked a taxi who is going to picked me up at the highway on my route to Gujo Hachiman. Because taxis in Gujo Hachiman are booked a day before your arrival and they don’t speak English at all. And If you’re a Filipino, you are most likely going to bumped into one of our kababayan who is working on this hotel. So far, she’s the only Pinoy here and she speaks Bisaya, from Davao City. I hope this help post helps you in your future travels to the beautiful City of Takayama.
GGuest UserExcellent location to see Takayama and beyond (near station). Delicious, varied Japanes breakfast buffet. Very helpful staff.
Happy Hour - free drink is an excellent opportunity to meet other travellers, - free curry is not so impressive and detracted from the hotel's image.
GGuest UserThis was a welcome visit, it was part of our package that we bought when we were visiting Shinhotaka Ropeway, on our return the bus dropped us off at the bus stop and we got to spend an hour at this onsen. Ever since I have visited Japan I’ve always wanted to sit in one of their onsens during winter and this time zi got my chance, fair to say that it was probably about 0 degrees if not less but the water in the onsen was about 40 degrees, it was so beautiful sitting in the onsen with snow all around us, if you get the chance please stop here for a soak.
GGUOWEIBreakfast was good, but the Japanese-style room 2010 was a bit dated! On February 2nd, the Shirakawa-mura Lighting Festival, the house price doubled more than 3,000 a night! There is a theft in booking a room in Japan: the room is charged according to the number of people. This room can accommodate 3 to 6 people. You can book 3 people for 4 people and 3 or 4 people for 5 people. living!
Mmegmeg1130It was very reasonable in Hirayu Onsen hot spring and found an inn close to the bus terminal. The front desk was Japanese that was not foreign and did not blur, but responded with a smile. I thought I was going to take my luggage to the room, but I got off the elevator and put my luggage down in front of me and she left. When I was rowing, I found two rooms without numbers. I opened the key and entered there. I booked a large room called a family room, but it seems that I use it as a room by dividing two rooms which were banquet hall. I heard that there was no toilet and bath in the room, but there was no washbasin. There was one small refrigerator. There is no closet, no hanger, no towel hanger. Except for the next room (because the key was open) there was a floor between the floor and two closets. Apparently our room seems to be on the lower seat side. It is severe that there is no towel hanger in the hot spring inn, so when I went to the front desk, the staff went to take it while laughing ”I will take my room”. There were 4 hot springs and all were rental baths. This was also separated from the inner bath and the open-air bath. So there is no washing place or shower in the open-air bath. The hot water is pumped from the bathtub by the hot water bucket, and the body is washed from the bathtub. I 々 Japanese are rare now, but it will be more difficult for foreigners. I expect that there is no hot water. And there is no washbasin or mirror on the hot water, so you can't dryer. Our room has no washbasin, so you can't go to the bathroom in the morning. (The toilet on the floor is small and the face cannot be washed) Moreover, if it is not inner hot water, there is no washbasin, so I can't polish my teeth. Breakfast was usually a hot spring inn menu, and there was a small pot and the volume seemed to be (we stayed overnight). But we will never go to stay here anymore.
GGuest User This inn is located in a very convenient location near the station, downtown area and morning market in Takayama city. I stayed without meals and enjoyed local cuisine at night, and I used this inn in the morning to eat and drink in various ways. The location was perfect, the local restaurant was very close to 1 minutes on foot, and I was able to take a walk in the downtown area after dinner. For breakfast, I went to the morning market and enjoyed the color 々. The inn seems to have been a renovation of a wooden house, but it was very clean, and the room between 2 was able to relax enough for adults 4 people. There was a note that the sound was easy to leak, so it was quiet, but in fact, I only worried about the sound of opening and closing the doors and the sound of the stairs when entering and exiting other rooms. There was also a separate bath and toilet, TV and WIFI complete, and I was satisfied enough as an inn. Furthermore, the staff were very friendly and I forgot something here, but I was able to respond to the inquiries immediately and the exchange of photos through ”Agoda” did not work well. We were kindly responded many times and kindly responded to shipping by arrival after confirming the photo. I think it's a really good staff. If I have the opportunity to go to Takayama again, I would definitely like to reuse it.
