We went to visit friends and decided to book this hotel, as it was local. I went to check in on my own, as my husband tried to find a parking space, as there are none, he had to park on the pavement on a busy road. The entrance is through a pub, which I felf a bit uncomfortable with, as I have never seen so many dogs in a bar. After reading the information about the pub, it seems they encourage people to take their dogs there. I had to wait to be seen, as there were three men at the bar ordering drinks. But the worst was yet to come. I could not believe it when they came to show me the room. It was up two flights of stairs and the carpets were absolutely filthy. So much so, that your feet stuck to them as you walked upstairs. On first sight the room was not too bad, dated, but seemed clean enough, although I noticed he had difficulty opening the door, as it was so stiff. He gave me the key and the keyring was a cardboard beer mat. When my husband saw the place he asked a member of staff if we could get our money back, but he told us that we would need to contact the booking company. However, I had paid with my debit card at the bar directly to the hotel. So, we tried to make the best of it. The wardrope door was hanging off it's hinges. There was one socket in the room and the bathroom light and extractor were filthy. The radiator in the bathroom leaked and when we got up in the morning the bathroom floor and carpet at the door was soaked. They don't serve food and mainly have rooms with shared toilet facilities. The room we had was en suite, but wasn't cheap at 79 gbp for the night. We complained about the room to a member of staff and asked if we left would they refund our money. But he said we got up in the morning, the bathroom floor and carpet outside the door was soaked. We have stayed in many hotels. luxury and basic, but this was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Avoid at all cost. We'd have been more comfortable sleeping in the car.
