I took my 94 year old relative for lunch yesterday to The Manor House Kitchen cafe as she loves going there. We have been several times before and the previous visit was an absolute disappointment and ended with me having to ask them to re cook part of her breakfast as the bacon was so well done I think even if I had brought a chisel to cut it would have been a struggle, her poached eggs were over cooked with hard yolks however they replaced them. Yesterday she wanted to go again for lunch so off we went, upon arrival it was quite busy but there were several tables spare. We placed our order The Traditional Yorkshire Breakfast and a Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Then we waited and waited I noticed the young lady whom had taken our order was serving alone and the other team member had disappeared bearing in mind it was lunch time it later transpired she had gone to take her lunch break. Eventually after forty minutes our order arrived upon receipt it looked okay,i then opened the sandwich and apart from a small amount of chicken and lettuce no advocado as advertised so I asked the waitress to fetch me the menu and asked her to read the description of said sandwich and I pointed out it was missing ingredients, she offered to have them remake it but having already waited an eternity i said no, then proceeded to take a bite it was stone cold hence I sent it back and did without. I wasn’t the only disgruntled customer as a lovely old couple had come in half a hour earlier and hadn’t even been acknowledged eventually the waitress did go to them with menus and to add insult to injury she forgot to place there order and came back to them apologising and trying to blame the younger waitress whom had now gone to have her lunch very unprofessional on her part, however the lady did point out to her that it was she who took the order and she should have placed it. I definitely won’t be returning if this had been a one off i may have forgiven but unfortunately it is the second time we have left disappointed. Such a shame.
