Comfort Inn Humboldt Bay

We stayed here years ago. We came up to work on a rental on a semi-emergency basis, our first hotel stay since COVID-19 became a household word. When I came to check in we had a discussion about the room, as my husband prefers grab bars where he showers. The clerk, who was training a new employee, suggested I look at the room first. I did- no bars to hold onto. The clerk changed the room out for an accessible room which would work for us. The room was very well kept with even enough room for a wheelchair to get around easily. I wasn't fond of the casual chair and hassock but we were comfortable for two nights, They were able to open their pool as COVID-19 restrictions had eased a bit. They still couldn't serve breakfast, but gave bags of breakfast to go with a pastry and a breakfast burrito in them. I thought this was a clever way to see their guests got at least a bit of a perk in the morning. We spoke to staff outside- they had their masks on as did we. Welcoming place and well run.
Motel 6 Eureka, CA – Redwood Coast
3.4/5101 Reviews
With Motel 6 in America you know in advance exactly what you’re going to get and the one in Eureka certainly delivers what’s on the label. Prices were quite reasonable and the venue is located right on the 101 highway. The rooms are exactly as you would expect and everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable. There was a bathtub and shower combination and the water was nice and hot. There were plenty of clean towels. Ample parking was available and I felt safe in the property. Motel six is a three star hotel chain and this location delivered a five star service within that class.
Clarion Hotel by Humboldt Bay

All rooms open outside. Not a safe neighborhood. When we checked in we waited in the car until what appeared to be a homeless person left from in front of our room. On the street adjoining the hotel is what appears to be a permanent RV parked that has seen much better days. That probably has less to do with the hotel and more to do with the entire city. Not impressed with Eureka! The room itself is nice and appears to have been remodeled. It offers a very good breakfast (while other hotels we stayed at in CA said they could not offer breakfast due to Covid). The hotel is located next to a major road and the traffic can be heard all night.
Best Western Country Inn

Very clean and quiet hotel located half way between Eureka and the Avenue of the Giants. The staff were very polite and gave us suggestions on where to eat out for dinner. The morning breakfast was fantastic.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Eureka

The hotel is just off the highway, and there are two hotels around. The hotel is good and fresh, and the breakfast variety is medium. The car park is free and right at the door of the hotel.
Travelodge by Wyndham Eureka

I had a very good stay. This Travelodge left an impression of a very well-run property. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of my room here, enough to come back now to leave this review. This was my base for travel in the redwoods parks, lost coast, other surrounding attractions. Most located within 1 hr from the hotel. I did not spend much time in the room. It was a place to sleep, take a shower, and get myself going. Granted, this is a motel, not a five-star resort, but based on my experience this property delivers what it is supposed to deliver. Easy parking. The room was very clean, well maintained, good-sized, and comfortable. No breakfast at the hotel, but many options nearby, including local shops. Standard chains (e.g., Ihop) in the opposite direction, but similarly close by. The location is within walking distance to ”old town Eureka” (don't expect too much, but it's pleasant enough), with lots of bars/restaurants, including above-mentioned breakfast options. Across the street you will find a full-size organic food supermarket with a deli. There were some homeless people in the surrounding area, but not too many and they were harmless. This is kind of obligatory in CA. During my stay most of the hotel was occupied by firefighters. Looked like CalFire rents this place to house out-of-town force. I did not have to interact much with the front desk staff (which is exactly the way it should be), but to the extent I did they were nice and helpful.
