I have to say this was the most disappointing stay at a Comfort Inn & Suites property I have ever had.  I have been a Choice member for many years and I usually try to book through their website and choose one of their hotel brands because they have been very consistent in the quality of rooms (beds, pillows, furnishings, towels, etc.) amenities(free breakfasts and parking, etc.), cleanliness, hospitality, and friendly professionalism.  We were met by an unfriendly clerk at check-in who proceeded to go over the many rules about smoking, animals, pool towels, and breakfast being prohibited from being eaten in our room and the extra charges we would incur. After two long days of packing and moving our daughter to a new apartment, we were pretty spent and just signed everything.  The room at first appeared freshly updated and looked clean.  After unpacking I did notice that the bathroom was in a state of disrepair; the bathroom door had water damage, the floor of the bathtub was yellowing and had what looked like a vinyl patch, and the shower head looked like it needed to be replaced as it was caked with calcium and looked moldy. I thought that maybe the hotel just hadn't gotten to that part of their renovations and that it may be hotel-wide so did not call the front desk.  I was also exhausted and did not want to pack up and change rooms at that point.  The sitting area had two vinyl ottomans that appeared to have had some liquid spilled on them but had not been properly cleaned.  Please see pics. Thankfully the bed was clean and comfortable as always.  The next morning my husband and I went out to the beach before checkout.  When we returned to our room our key cards would not work.  I went down to the front desk to ask why and have the key re-activated and the two people were not able to give any real explanation and tried to re-activate the key card.  They were not friendly and seemed almost hostile. I went back up to the third floor and the key card still did not work so back down I went, this time with my husband.   The desk clerk tried again to re-activate our key but also flagged down a maintenance worker with a master key to let us back into our room (our key was still not working the third time).  We were never given an explanation or an apology for the inconvenience.  When I checked out I asked if all the hotel bathrooms were older, and the clerk said ”No, Why?”I showed her my pictures and she then took pictures of them so she could show her manager.  Again no apology for the state of the bathroom, she said the stains on the ottomans were most likely scratches, she only asked when I noticed these things last night or this morning.    I cannot recommend this Comfort Inn & Suites in Huntington Beach. We had a disappointing experience that left me displeased and frustrated with the desk clerks.

Booked this hotel for my mother and daughter who were visiting me for a family visit from out of town. At 3am noises woke everyone up. They assumed it was someone using the ice machine. They soon woke up, due to the ongoing noise and found a rat (vermin) in one of the bags they had in their room. The rat has been trying to open  plastic wrapped individual cookies. The front desk was IMMEDIATELY called! The front desk acted like it is not their problem and they stated that they ”never have heard of rats or vermin in their hotel”. Hence, read the numerous reviews from prior customers that they have found roaches, bed bugs, rats, mice etc...... The front desk wanted to offer another room. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! A report was made, while still on the property to the Department of Environmental Health on Orange County. This place is absolutely harmful for anyone who may stay here. This is unacceptable and for the front desk to not be helpful and ”deny, deny, deny” that there is an ongoing vermin problem, is hideous and disappointing. The room they ”offered” was not taken and they would not refund any money as only 1 night out of 2 nights, paid in full, were used. Immediately checking with the credit card company not only did they refuse to refund the 2nd night (that was already paid in full), but they charged an ADDITIONAL $100 for some reason! Last thing, upon leaving, the front desk REFUSED to give me a paper receipt! Fishy business! DO NOOOOOOTTTT stay here. Save yourself from nonsense!
