As one of the oldest inns in the world, The Olde Bell, BW Signature Collection is a unique venue that has captured the essence of English hospitality and complimented it with chic tableware, divine textiles, and simple understated luxury. From the London glitterati to meandering souls that crave a classic countrywide retreat, guests can be assured of a sublimely chic experience whether they choose to eat, drink, host, or sleep at our medieval inn. The Olde Belle is a glorious contrast of simple neutral tones, vintage Ercol chairs, and solid oak tables – with certain parts dating back to 1135. The charming interior is a celebration of times gone by, with the greatest of attention paid to the smallest of details.Arranged over five buildings, guests will be treated to a wide range of choices when it comes to accommodation. Larger parties will be seduced by the beauty of the Malt house while couples or lone travelers can enjoy the minimalist character of classic, deluxe, or luxury rooms.Serving produce from the inn’s own kitchen garden, the award-winning restaurant is a sanctuary for foodies with a commitment to honest, locally sourced food. The neutral warmth of the dining room is brought alive by fascinating trinkets and wonderful soft Welsh woolen blankets making it a haven for weary travelers in need of some respite. With warmer weather comes the opportunity to laze in the stunning meadow gardens which come alive in the summer in a heady waft of lavender. With an enormous kamado oven and rotisserie in the main gardens, al fresco dining has become somewhat of an art at The Olde Bell – delivering outrageously tasty dishes to guests in the classic setting of its charming English garden.Located only 40 minutes from London and within a few minutes walk of the Thames, the Olde Bell is an utterly unique destination that will capture the heart of its guests – be it as a romantic getaway, an exceptional wedding venue, or a unique location for a conference.Show More

Dreary, shabby, really a microcosm of England now. Resentful, dog-eared and lacking in any charm. We left early because we couldn’t stand the negativity of the place.

We just had our wedding at the Olde Bell after booking it based on my experience of it about ten years ago. I was concerned after reading so many awful reviews - and my visit in February was mixed - but the management team were working to get it back to its glory. And they did! I couldn't be more thankful to all the wonderful staff who helped us on the day, and a huge shout out especially to Vincent and Leah who made it such a success. Damn the food was good too! Three cheers to all who have worked so hard - a phoenix from the flames. Thank you thank you thank you.

Upon arrival all looked lovely. We had a deluxe room, nice, but simple things like no headboard on the bed so the pillows slid down the back of the bed, no hand soap in bathroom, plug sockets in odd places, doesn’t really match up to being a deluxe room or certainly match up for the price you are paying. Nice evening meal in the pub, prices on drinks quite high. £6 for a non alcoholic bottled IPA. As for breakfast- Blonde lady with glasses doing breakfast service was extremely rude to my partner on Sunday morning. Both mornings we came for breakfast (Sat/Sun) she had a really miserable face, not what you should have when working in hospitality, which straight away makes you feel uncomfortable. No one spoke to us either morning, not even a good morning. Sunday morning we came down the same time as Saturday to be rudely told that breakfast finished at 10, when we queried this compared to Saturday she snapped Sundays are different. No one told us this on check in, and consequently we had to ask for some cutlery, cups for coffee and glasses. There was minimum left for breakfast in terms of hot food whereas on Saturday hot food was still being brought at 10.45. Ate our breakfast feeling like scolded school children and actually ruined our last morning.Disappointing end to the trip.

We stayed at the Olde Bell for two nights and our experience was that so many little things could be done much better, like providing a complimentary bottle of water in the room, making sure that the outside tables are clean and cleared of dirty plates and glasses. The outside area could be nice if it was kept clean but it wasn’t. The quality of the buffet breakfast items was good but the supply was dismal! We had breakfast at 8am so guests would expect plenty of each food item to be available. Unfortunately it wasn’t. I had to visit reception with my half empty plate to ask for eggs, then when the eggs came out several guests leapt up to get one but were only 3! Then the bacon ran out. Drinks and food was overpriced. We paid £31 for a bottle of Pino Grigio which was the cheapest on the wine list. We also ate in the restaurant one night and there was a 12.5% service charge which is poor when you are a hotel guest. It’s a pity because the village is so nice and the Olde Bell could be too if they sorted out the small things. We will definitely be revisiting the area again but will be staying somewhere else.

Huge amazing rambling property with big company cost cutting evident. Would need a fortune spent to make it in to the place it should be. Every cost corner cut but I believe there may be some signs of life in new recruitment in kitchen. Decent breakfast.

Went with a small group for a pre-dinner drink, bar service was slow. Had a great area out the rear of the hotel to sit for a warm evenings drink. Unfortunately the tables and chairs were very dirty, with a large number having bird droppings on. Food from prior guests was left on the outdoor tables, attracting a variety of birds to a feed.

We booked the Norman room for our small wedding reception. On arrival, the table was beautifully laid and our Prosecco was served by Vincent, our attentive host. The meal was great and, as the sun was shining, we explored the gardens and other function rooms to get some memorable photos. Our bedroom was lovely with a personalised congratulations card and bed strewn with rose petals. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and modern. The room overlooked the courtyard and garden. Perfect. Breakfast was good and our stay ended with tea on the patio. Many thanks to Leah, the wedding coordinator, and all the friendly staff. We will be back soon, maybe for our first anniversary!

Friendly staff but It’s wasn’t a picture postcard experience. I was in one of the barn/ car park rooms which felt like school trip accommodation. Not even a bar of soap in the bathroom so I could wash my hands. I had to attempt removing the annoying foil on the cheap shower gel and gave up when it could not be opened. No bedside table, damp on ceiling and worst of all everyone can see into your room unless you want to fully close the curtains. Truly a depressing experience- couldn’t wait to get out of there.

Absolutely fantastic, although there was part of my booking lost, this was soon rectified. The service was impeccable and could not do enough
