On my 16th visit to Ibiza, always careful where to book. Too much noise, or sit in a fishing village without any. Sit in a town centre or pay for a high rise and a view of Tenerife. I chose Enkala which boasted a beach front view. Having booked 'Beach-front' before and finding they meant it was a short train journey to the sand, I arrived at 9.45 am to notice this place was around nine inches from the beach. As with every hotel in the world, check-in is at three and I am here early morning. And as with every hotel or apartment, it is the people, not the chocolate on the pillow makes the stay good or not. 'It's not a problem' said the owner Neus, 'I will have your room done immediately, you can shower and begin your stay with us now.' Never had that before....ever. From landing to being in the shower.......23 minutes. I am certain the wooden blinds are purely to shock the senses when you open them to reveal my own personal bit if paradise when I opened them. The best place I have ever stayed in Spain (Including Tenerife) owner lives on site and never got tired of any one of my hundred questions. Which in fairness were only asked because the owner is a Supermodel. But the best was yet to come. Went for a walk into Ibiza town round the rocks to the castle in the afternoon (32 minutes) and back on a road (16 minutes) Stocked up with T bags and Cadbury's and sunbathed on my personal verandah. If I had left sun-lotion in my room, I did not have a ten minute journey back to get it. I had to walk six yards instead of a five minute walk to a lift. Best was yet to come indeed. This immaculate apartment I genuinely believed held the massive couch I was to open up to sleep on, begged the obvious question of how it actually opened. Nope.........There was a beautiful bedroom I hadn't noticed all day had a mattress, that after I slept on it, I considered shipping back to the UK. I did ask........! Neus told me.......'Why go to all this trouble and then buy a 300 Euro mattress for the guest to sleep on.' (2000 Euros on each one in case you are interested) I would say I would always stay here in future, there is only problem as anyone else will find with Enkala. Unsurprisingly, it is usually fully-booked all- year round. I am not a family member, never seen this place before but credit where it is due, this is falsely-labelled....... It is 5-star..........
