I have never written a negative hotel review in my life until now. I don't care if one or two little things go wrong, it happens. However there is a difference between a few little accidents and a systemic attempt to con people out of money while offering them a woeful experience. This place is a disgrace, a disgusting, corner cutting sham designed to milk as much money out of suckers as possible while looking nice in a paid Instagram reel. As a "5 star resort" charging a months rent in Cochin for one night in a villa, the lack of basic cleanliness is absurd. There are no clean sheets which the staff admitted to us after we asked for them to be changed. Every set of sheets were carrying months of stains, shoe prints, holes etc. One villa bedroom had a horrendous smell that we speculated may be a dead animal. The pool has a filmy layer of oil or something similar that the staff are seemingly given no way to actually clean (after 3 hours of waiting and repeatedly asking for it to be cleaned). Our replacement room had black mold in the toilets, mold on the pillows, green staining (I'm not quite sure what it is) on the walls, dead bugs in the bed (immediately after they had supposedly been cleaned). On top of the cascade of problems with the rooms, there are ever mounting small details that betray the cheapness of the place. The more time you spend here the more you realise that any appearance of quality is merely skin deep. In reality the quality of accommodation is comparable to a poorly run hostel. The attention to detail is sorely lacking to where small things I wouldn't normally care about begin to add up. A staff who take ages to address a concern unless it's a billable item or the only hotel rooms I've ever seen in India that do not offer complementary bottled water. Another example would be the games room, the carroms were missing a piece and the board itself is rough, the pool table had plastic sticks and was slanted, the table tennis table is misaligned and the net is inconsistent. All tiny details normally not worth mentioning, but when the website advertises this games room as a feature and it turns out to resemble that of a run down old folks home it does a good job of encapsulating how almost everywhere you look there are poorly maintained, poorly built elements contributing to the aggressively substandard whole. I've worked in companies where I as a staff member has to try to cover up dysfunctional parts of the customer experience, and I saw a very familiar sight for the staff here. Many of them, especially the restaurant staff, were kind and helpful. Ultimately it's not their fault. Some elements of management however behaved in bad faith, including trying to claim that a refund for us would come out of the staff's wages and agreeing to refund us while taking account details then providing no refund nor further communications since leaving. It perhaps should have caught our attention that full payment is demanded before even
