Único alojamiento que tiene franquiciado Paradores en Portugal a la empresa hotelera Montebelo. Es una casa solariega del siglo XVIII magníficamente conservada. Se pueden recorrer sus salones, ambientados con muebles y cuadros de época o pasear por su extensísima finca. Nos dieron un plano del lugar para no perdernos. Incluso nos acompañaron a la habitación, ya que aquello es como un laberinto si no lo conoces. Nos quedamos impresionados por el jardín francés, con su lago de los cisnes y su estanque con flores de loto. No menos imponente es el jardín inglés, con árboles centenarios. Fue un placer visitar la quesería y ver cómo se fabrican los quesos que producen y venden. También degustamos los vinos de su bodega y sus mermeladas. Los dos días de estancia resultaron perfectos, gracias a la amabilidad de todos los empleados. La habitación era muy amplia, con dos camas muy cómodas. El cuarto de baño también era espacioso. Solo lamentamos no disponer de cabina de ducha; la bañera no nos resultó muy cómoda. Las noches fueron sumamente tranquilas: no se oía absolutamente nada. Pero hay que saber que estamos en el campo, por lo que conviene que las ventanas permanezcan cerradas. A nuestro regreso de la cena, nos encontramos con un murciélago volando por toda la habitación, que parecía estar casi más asustado que nosotros. Two very negative points.
Room: noise from the air conditioning circuit and impossible to stop, extremely noisy, preventing you from sleeping. I had promised my wife a dream night in 5 stars, it was an ordeal...
We had a bad time, mainly Spanish audience with children and very noisy.
Positive side :
Very pleasant welcome, pleasant and atypical setting (the museum side is attractive)
Decent swimming pool.
Too bad there isn't a cocktail bar worthy of the name.

This is the only Spanish Parador in Portugal. Our room here was small by Parador standards, but they d have suites with Bedroom, Sitting Room and Kitchen/Diner at reasonable prices. The Parador is a converted country house with extensive grounds and ornamental gardens, complete with a lake and resident swan. They make their own wine, which is excellent, and cheese, which is outstanding. They also grow their own fruit and vegetables and even have a pottery. Many of their products can be purchased in their shop. The food, which differs from the standard Parador menu is outstanding and you can finish your meal with a glass of their own Brandy (Not to be missed!).

Fantastic hotel. The treatment of the exquisite staff. They offered us a room change for a superior one since the hotel was not full. The Harvest Festival organized by the hotel was celebrated. Cheese factory and Winery within the Estate. Rooms that take you to another era. The food was exquisite, yes, a little slow in the service, perhaps due to lack of staff. A plus point is having the pool open out of season. The gardens are to be visited again and again. For those of us who live almost on the border, it is a very good weekend getaway.

The antiquity of the estate; the furniture, paintings, gardens and history make this a perfect place to stay. The receptionists were.very helpful and gave us a guided tour of the mansion and up graded us to a beautiful room overlooking the gardens. We spent a delightful time meandering through the estate and picnicking by the pool. We would rate the parador as OUTSTANDING except that we experienced the worst dinner of our entire trip.
