We regularly host a group lunch at Thainstone House in the Lairds Room. The service and facilities are always excellent, and as you'd expect, the menu choices and food is of the highest quality. If you need to get a small ( 8 - 10) group of key people together to discuss private or business matters in a quiet, private space with sensitive, top quality staff, I can think of no better place in Aberdeen or the shire.

Jessica, our wedding planner, was absolutely amazing and incredibly organised! Her confidence in her skills was truly justified, as our guests and we had the most fantastic time. Every staff member was extremely kind and helpful, leaving us with no complaints at all! The manager was so nice and checked on us throughout our stay. The value for the price was also outstanding. I highly recommend this venue! ❤️

A real treat. Location, location, location! Very quiet but close to the A96. Buy breakfast if you possibly can as it's a delight. Don't let the spa go by w/o a visit. (No luck ghost-wise. I guess she didn't like the look of us... Pity, would have loved to have met her.)

A rescheduled birthday night away to a beautiful old house, tucked away , comfortable room, great facilities , delicious evening meal altho not so sure about frozen grapes , fabulous breakfast choices, attentive staff and a very commendable manager, Ian, who is an example of what a passionate hotel manager should be.. He goes out of his way to speak to residents and it is the hotels loss that he is on to pastures new .. thank you Ian for the fantastic hospitality at Thainstone House .

My wife and I visited this hotel in February using a voucher she was gifted for her birthday. A nice 3hr drive upto the hotel and met by a cracking drive upto the hotel in the grounds and was easy enough to navigate to reception. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We checked in and headed to our room. The hotel gave an elegant and luxury feel. When we opened the door to our room we were certainly surprised… the room felt like it was an old storage cupboard it was that small. The bathroom gave the room competition for what was bigger. The complimentary Tunnocks was a bonus but that’s all the room had going for it. The leisure facilities were great and plenty of space here. The dinner menu had great choice and reasonably priced. The taste was really good and service to match! This was also echoed at breakfast time with the quality of the food! I was unfortunate enough to leave something in the room and realised once I had checked out. Staff were fantastic and I got my item back without a fuss. Service and food is great! Hotel possibly missing a trick of having walking routes signposted or on handouts as the grounds looks amazing! Size of the room was a let down.

This hotel is a lovely building set in beautiful grounds in an excellent location for exploring the many historic buildings and castles in the surrounding area. This was our second visit so we did not have particularly high expectations regarding our room. An irritation at check in when paying for our room was the automatic addition of a service charge when we hadn’t received any service. We had booked a classic king room and were allocated room 214. The room was small and bore no resemblance to the photos on the website and I would question whether it was actually a king size bed. The bathroom was in dire need of an upgrade and both the room and the bathroom would have benefited from a deep clean. We told reception that the soap dispenser was empty to be informed that housekeeping locked everything up at 3 30 ! The dispenser remained empty for our stay. We have stayed in premier inns where the room was of a much higher standard. Like other reviewers I question why this hotel has 4 stars. On the positive side we enjoyed 2 dinners in the restaurant and breakfast was very good. The waiting staff were all very friendly and efficient. It’s such a shame that the hotel is let down by substandard accommodation.

We had a great stay in Thainstone House, staff were warm and friendly, welcoming and chatty. (We even got a holiday destination recommendation for our Summer Holiday abroad in Siciliy). Although we live in Inverurie, we had never been to Thainstone before to eat or stay although we had used the leisure facilities before (Which are excellent and open to non-residents). We have to say we thought the meal was thoroughly tremendous, so many depth of flavours; the Tuna Loin entre kept giving and giving on taste, the main courses of cod and chicken also were tremendous, with excellent presentation and flavour. A beautiful setting as well, eating at a window table overlooking the grounds and Brimmond Hill in the background. The restaurant is open for bookings from non-residents and we will be doing this again in the future.

Een rustiek hotel met hele mooie kamers. Goede bedden en fijne badkamer. Verschillende ruimtes om rustig te zitten en om fijne gesprekken te hebben. De eetzaal is leuk gelegen met zicht op het grote gazon. Een leuke bar om "s avonds een drankje te doen. Het personeel is in alle afdelingen van het hotel zeer klantvriendelijk en meegaand. Wij waren er met een Nederlands gezelschap, wat bestaat uit meerdere gezinnen, omdat mijn zoon en schoondochter in Schotland wilden trouwen. Ze zijn getrouwd in Castle Fraser, maar het diner en feestje is gehouden in het Thainstone House. Het diner was heel goed geregeld en zeer smakelijk. Tot besluit, het personeel en zeker de manager hebben er alles aan gedaan om het ons naar de zin te maken.
