Waiting almost 6 months for a refund. Hotel is a scam! We booked an original stay in December 2023 for March 2024 and canceled in February the people we were traveling with were unable to go for personal reasons. The cancellation was well within the window. The refund process is a joke. You have to dispute the charge with your card company and wait for the hotel to issue the refund. I have emailed & called. Hosi just keeps emailing she will check with the accounting department. I have EVERY EMAIL SAVED! We made the mistake of rebooking our stay a month later for June 2024 but because of work commitments we’re unable to go. Again canceled well within the cancellation window as well. Probably have to wait 6 months for that refund. Lesson learned to only stay only at reputable hotels from now on. My card company has escalated the issue to make sure both refunds are processed quickly.

It is nothing like the pictures. Our overall impression is a hotel that had potential and has been left to run down. Rooms are OK, air works fine, not a dresser in sight. Rain water blew under the outside door into the room and water dripped from the light inside that door. Internet is very sporadic and unreliable. If you need to work a bit while there, you could be stuck. There is only one real restaurant that has table service. It's quite small and you need to make reservations a day before, within a short window (a couple of hours). You can't make reservations for two or three days ahead, just for the next day. BUT no one tells you this. That leaves you eating cafeteria style for the week, with basically the same food day in and day out. There is a grill in the buffet line, manned by one person, who makes one item at a time. The line gets very long. No complaint about the staff, They're friendly and they work long hours, but the management obviously isn't interested in making this a nice resort. Instead of mats in front of the lobby entrance doors, they throw down bathroom towels. Upon arrival, conveniently the rooms "aren't quite ready", so they detour you to sit with someone who tells you they're going to give you an overview of what the place has to offer and then immediately launches into a spiel trying to sell you a "club plan". As if. We witnessed this happening to others who arrived after we did. The best food there was ceviche and shrimp cocktail from a walk-up window by the pier, open in the afternoon. I'm pretty sure they pump sewage into the water by that pier at night; the stench is awful after dark and the water looks frothy and really foul - so much so that none of us would swim off their beach for the last three days. There is an additional $26 USD "resort fee" (or something like that) tacked on at check-out. They mention it at check-in but fail to tell you it's $26... per day. The location is nice; it's easy to walk into the small town area. The concierge is helpful in renting a golf cart and securing transportation to and from the ferry and airport. The people working there are nice, but seem to be fighting an uphill battle to keep folks happy. I feel bad for them. It was a disappointing experience, especially for the price and what they promise you.

The location is amazing and every room has an ocean view. The hotel was clean and the staff were great. The food is good. Great for families as lots of options available. The rooms are dated and getting run down. We had 2 adults and 2 kids in a deluxe ocean view room. We ended up with a king bed and a single, despite requesting 2 queen beds and booking through ******* that listed 2 queen beds. Essentially getting 2 queen beds depends on availabilty when you check in.

First, the cons (they’re mostly Mother Nature related and completely out of the resort’s hands) - 1. the bird sanctuary area is smelly and loud. Stay in the middle villas if possible if that’s what you need. 2. The sargasso was bad when we went and while workers tried to clear it, it was an ever present smell and irritation, BUT it didn’t stop us from getting in the water and having the best time! 3. The bathrooms are VERY small and in need of some serious updating, but who really cares about that too much in paradise! 4. The dancing music at night could be a bit more diverse. Salsa almost every night gets old. Now the pros- 1. The staff is amazing, helpful, and kind. 2. The swimming and snorkeling area at the resort is perfect for kids and we loved swimming in schools of fish near the bridge. Free excursion everyday! 3. The food options are minimal, but we found everything to be tasty and it met our needs when we ate at the resort. We ate in town several times because we wanted the experience and nothing was disappointing! Highly recommend to explore the island in a golf cart or just walk across the bridge and within 5-10 minutes, you’ll have plenty of options. 4. The night shows were quaint and entertaining. It’s a small resort so don’t expect a huge production. Would we go back? Absolutely! But we’re not high maintenance Karens, so choose accordingly! We wanted AI because of the kids and convenience. We weren’t let down, but if you’re looking for a high end resort, LOTS of food options, and sprawling space, Mia might not be for you.
