It is nothing like the pictures. Our overall impression is a hotel that had potential and has been left to run down. Rooms are OK, air works fine, not a dresser in sight. Rain water blew under the outside door into the room and water dripped from the light inside that door. Internet is very sporadic and unreliable. If you need to work a bit while there, you could be stuck. There is only one real restaurant that has table service. It's quite small and you need to make reservations a day before, within a short window (a couple of hours). You can't make reservations for two or three days ahead, just for the next day. BUT no one tells you this. That leaves you eating cafeteria style for the week, with basically the same food day in and day out. There is a grill in the buffet line, manned by one person, who makes one item at a time. The line gets very long. No complaint about the staff, They're friendly and they work long hours, but the management obviously isn't interested in making this a nice resort. Instead of mats in front of the lobby entrance doors, they throw down bathroom towels. Upon arrival, conveniently the rooms "aren't quite ready", so they detour you to sit with someone who tells you they're going to give you an overview of what the place has to offer and then immediately launches into a spiel trying to sell you a "club plan". As if. We witnessed this happening to others who arrived after we did. The best food there was ceviche and shrimp cocktail from a walk-up window by the pier, open in the afternoon. I'm pretty sure they pump sewage into the water by that pier at night; the stench is awful after dark and the water looks frothy and really foul - so much so that none of us would swim off their beach for the last three days. There is an additional $26 USD "resort fee" (or something like that) tacked on at check-out. They mention it at check-in but fail to tell you it's $26... per day. The location is nice; it's easy to walk into the small town area. The concierge is helpful in renting a golf cart and securing transportation to and from the ferry and airport. The people working there are nice, but seem to be fighting an uphill battle to keep folks happy. I feel bad for them. It was a disappointing experience, especially for the price and what they promise you.
