Hotels near St. Maelrubhas' Chapel, Isle of Skye

I've read many of the reviews for Sligichan and while I can appreciate and understand why many have reported poor experiences, I think one has to put this property into perspective. Could the hotel use a few upgrades? Sure. Does Seumas' restaurant have the best food you will have in Scotland? No. Does everyone love their job at Seumas'? Probably not. But considering the location, the ambience, and the customer service from most of the staff, I rate this property highly. For those from the US that have reported that the property is overpriced, have you ever stayed at a property on or near a National Park? I've paid way more for a room at a NP that had no amenities and a 20 year old mattress! The property is clean, quiet, and the our bathroom was recently renovated. Additionally, the breakfasts in the AM were great, and if you have a custom order they are more than accommodating. A special shout out goes to Martin who I assume is the General Manager or something similar. While it is not necessarily a good thing for a property to have one person who can make your experience special, Martin is that person. I also had the occasion to connect with Martin after our visit and his customer service was as good after I left as it was when we were there in person. Thanks, Martin! I would most definitely go back.

Remember- you are in a desolate area of Scotland. This location and cabins really help you get back to the beauty of Skye. The detached cabins are small but very nice. Then you head down to the main lodge. Such a great full made-to-order breakfast ( best we had in Scotland) Their dinners are so good and well prepared. You will not be disappointed. Their bar is excellent. The best part is their staff. I want to mention , Lola at the front desk. What a gem of a person !

In the very center of Portree on Sky Island, next to the coop, it feels like a hotel converted from an old bar. There is a bar on the first floor, and the accommodation is on the second and third floors, but you can't hear the noise of the bar. Because it is an old house, there is a separation between the upper and lower floors. The sound is not very good, but the price/performance ratio is very good

I stayed here for one night as part of a multi day tour. The hotel is in a brilliant location straight across from where the bus/coaches stop. The harbour is a few minutes away as are plenty of shops and restaurants. I booked a single room and it was big enough for one person. The room was clean and tidy and staff were friendly and helpful.

Amazing location and lovely room. The view of the bay is outstanding and one of the best sun sets I've seen in a long time. Breakfast was perfect although the volume of the death metal music coming out of the kitchen was a bit much at 8am. But would definitely stay again!

1. This hotel is actually a homestay. You can check in by yourself. On the day of check-in, you will see a letter with your name at the door, and there is a key inside. The location is very good, just on the slopes of Portree overlooking the whole port. Parking is on the side of the road opposite the B&B. There are 7 parking spaces, but they are first come, first served, and there are usually spaces available. 2. There are many restaurants nearby, but if it is a holiday or weekend, many restaurants need to be booked in advance. A little farther away, there is a Chinese restaurant Panda that specializes in take away, which is actually quite affordable. The Chinese restaurant next to the homestay is average. 3. For sky island tourism, if you only live in one place, Portree is the best place.

The room is spacious and well utilized. This hotel is the most comfortable place for me to take a bath in Scotland. The water is large and smooth. After a good sleep, I woke up to a sunny day and was in a good mood.

You must stay at this hotel when you come to Sky Island! The scenery and location are the best on the island! ! ! Highly recommended! ! ! Just rush and that's it! ! ! Breakfast is facing the snow-capped mountains. Breakfast is a la carte, which is very good. I recommend the Scottish full breakfast. The hotel room is also very good! There’s nothing to choose from. It’s only two or three thousand in the peak season. If it’s more than one thousand in the off-season, it’s a great deal! It's a good place to stay for a few days. There is a parking lot at the entrance of the hotel downstairs, and there is a small park gate there where you can go for a 6-mile hike along the coast. It is well worth hiking for outdoor enthusiasts. It is super beautiful! ! ! The inside of the hotel room is exactly like the picture on Ctrip. The hotel has slippers! It's also rare in Europe. The bath water is not bad! Overall highly recommended! If you come to Sky Island, you must stay at Cuilian Mountain! It is recommended to arrive at dawn. The path turns up the mountain to find the hotel. The navigation will be difficult to see clearly at night. It is much better during the day!

We couldn't have been happier with this hotel! I was a bit hesitant to book here due to some negative reviews, but our experience couldn't have been more positive! I booked the Superior room, it was more than large enough for my husband and myself, and our adult son (the rooms were separated by a 4 or 5 step staircase, our son had the upper room, we had the lower). Beds and pillows were very comfortable, the rooms and bathroom were very clean! There is a fan provided in the room, thankfully, as I sleep with a fan on year round. The kind gentlemen at the desk even put one together for my son to use, much appreciated! The breakfast was fabulous, and the woman serving us each morning was an absolute delight! All of the staff members were kind, warm, and friendly! The bar downstairs is a comfortable place to hangout for the evening, there were mostly locals in there, lovely people, great conversations! I do highly recommend this hotel!
