Jackson Hotel & Convention Center

A clean, inexpensive hotel located just off the interstate. It's an older place but it has great character and the rooms have been completely updated. Continental breakfast, as well. The staff was friendly, to top it off.

The hotel is older, so not 5 star but on our last stay the room was nicer than our previous stay because the updates were more modern. Free breakfast really needs to be revised, nothing left when we got there one hour after it was available.

Short overnight stay on a longer trip. Room was nice and clean, but almost no amenities (only a very small bar of soap, no shampoo). No refrigerator or microwave in room, but they were supposed to be available upon request. Nonsmoking room on second floor smelled clean, but hallway smelled strongly of smoke. Continental breakfast was OK. Had self-made wafflers, but had to cook twice for them to be done. Also, had selection of cereals, oatmeal, small powdered donuts, toast, etc. Had coffee, 2% milk, and apple juice. Note the downstairs hallway away from the lobby was in bad shape, maybe being remodeled but not sure. The only ice machine was out off ice.

I was looking for a pet free hotel as most in Jackson are pet friendly idk why, so it was 9:30 pm I was tired and chose this place oh my gosh why I didn't ask for refund idk. The front of hotel had trash and dead landscape, elevator had coffee straw's and dirt in it, hallways had dried mud in carpet and cigarette butts everywhere, my room wasn't cleaned very well cigarette ash in window seal, sheets had been washed I think but had hair on them from dryer, shower was nasty with hair all over and in sink, screen was torn off window and just laying on balcony. It was $91 tax included I can say the night clerk who checked me in was very nice and helpful she was there when I checked out so I asked her how many hours she worked she said 12 hour shift, no wonder she looked so tired and overwhelmed omg, btw I never saw anyone else no housekeeper or maintenance. Me and the clerk were only English speaking people on property I think this is a holding place for migrants until they are transferred to major cities the place was full of them and they were all standing out front of hotel waiting for something the next morning, who knows if they were legally in country or not? Be smart and stay at comfort inn right behind this place it's $170 a night but it was really nice I was just on a budget and couldn't afford to stay there.
