We have stayed in this beautiful hotel many times. But this visit we were badly let down by terrible service on the front desk. Arriving by train, we were told we would be met at our coach by our driver. Nobody arrived. We are in our 60's and travelling around India for several weeks. We had big heavy suitcases and didn't know what to do. I phoned the hotel and they said 5 minutes. In the end, we waited for 30 minutes on the platform in 34C heat, being really badly hassled by many people. Finally a tuk tuk driver arrived at one of the 6 station exits and we had to drag our cases up and down stairs several times to find him. All the time being hassled by people trying to carry our bags and give us lifts. It was a really horrible experience. When we finally arrived at the hotel, there was no apology from the *** on the front desk. We usually order breakfast the night before, but the same *** on the front desk said there was no need. So in the morning we waited an hour to even get a cup of tea, with the staff asking why we hadn't ordered the night before. Then we needed to order a taxi early next morning for a domestic flight. This *** again was telling us we only needed to arrive an hour before the flight, although we wanted to get there 2 hours early, because we are not Indian and need to show visas. We got up early next day, as planned, but our car did not arrive and the young guy on reception eventually manage to get us one. It was another totally stressful and upsetting experience. I love this hotel and would like to return, but this hopeless *** on the front desk needs to improve drastically, as the problems he caused us simply are not acceptable.
