This is my second trip to Marea (previously under another name but with the same owners). I only want to talk about how much I like it if you all promise not to book in for the same weeks that I visit again. It’s quiet, which I love, but within walking distance of busier Paje. The rooms are clean, well-sized, have aircon, fans and cute balconies. Some of the rooms have just been redesigned, and I know there are more upgrades in the works. It has a wonderful Neapolitan restaurant, which is helpful because you don’t ever feel like you *need* to hunt for other food. It has a perfectly sized pool which never feels crowded, and not being in the centre of the resort, doesn’t come with lots of eyes gazing in your direction. Most of all, the staff are fantastic. They always have a smile and a kind word. Service is good and easy. It’s a great find for those looking for a boutique family run resort that also doesn’t break the bank.

I did lots of research for my family's trip to Zanzibar because there did not seem to be a lot of accurate information online. I felt comfortable with my reservation at the Marea (fka Geo) and it turned out I was right. From the owners (who may be there to greet you) to the hospitality, and dining options were perfect for a middle class family from the West Coast.
The room is basic but comfy enough. You can ask for extra pillows. The besds have sheets but no blankets. This encourages you not to blast AC all night long.
Also: the beach. I heard mixed answers about the quality of the beach in Jambiani. Well, I can tell you the beach right in front of the hotel is perfect white sand. The water is not clear. There's some (not a lot for us) seasweed. Maybe it's not as good as Kendwa and Nungwi. But there were almost no beach boys. And the ones who were there accepted a no after the third time. My family had the beach all to ourselves each morning. That's never really happened to us before! Don't miss out on a walk to the village. The people are super nice. Bring something to MOVE Zanzibar to donate to the kids it benefits.

Magnifique surprise à notre arrivée à l’hôtel, passés les portes d’entrées c’est un vrai paradis pour les yeux. Plage de sable blanc, eau turquoise, la vue sur mer de notre chambre était un vrai plaisir matinal. Cuisine typique italienne nous sommes restées 4j à l’hôtel et avons mangés tous les jours sur place tellement nous avons aimés les repas. Le petit déjeuné est très copieux mais excellent. Le personnel était d’une amabilité exemplaire (clin d’œil particulier à Lova). Quelques activités nautiques à faire aux alentours grâce aux locaux sur la plage qui vous les proposent mais difficile de sortir l’extérieur car assez reculé donc petit séjour recommandé. En effet pas d’eau chaude mais pas gênant pour nous en vue des températures extérieurs. La piscine est parfaite et nettoyée à longueur de journée. Literie impeccable, propreté des lieux et des chambres parfaits. Gros point positif : aucun locaux ne venaient nous accoster pour acheter des babioles sur la plage de l’hôtel car « gardien » sur place donc tranquillité +++.

Abbiamo soggiornato in questa struttura per 8 notti. Il posto è unico, il mare ti accompagna in ogni momento della giornata. Le stanze sono molto pulite e accoglienti. Il personale è eccezionale. Il ristorante è sulla spiaggia e ha un’ottima cucina italiana. La colazione è abbondante: frutta, dolce e salato. Abbiamo avuto una fantastica esperienza! I ragazzi che gestiscono la struttura sono giovani e pieni di entusiasmo, ci hanno dato degli ottimi consigli sulle escursioni da fare e i posti da visitare. Se andate a Jambiani e volete vivere un’esperienza autentica, vi consiglio questo posto meraviglioso.

Abbiamo soggiornato al Marea Boutique Hotel per 10 giorni e ci siamo trovati benissimo! Ottima posizione per chi ricerca una vacanza tranquilla al di fuori della confusione. Siano stati ad agosto e abbiamo trovato sempre pochissime persone in spiaggia! È il luogo ideale per chi vuole godere della Zanzibar autentica!

Personnels très sympathique et très accueillant. Le point négatifs est plutôt du côté des propriétaires qui ne daigne même pas dire bonjour. Certainement un gros problème d'éducation. Au niveau du restaurant, le petit-déjeuner est très bien, quand aux repas cela s'arrête au pizza et pasta.... Heureusement qu'il y a d'autres restaurants moins chers ou l'ont peut manger local juste à côté.

We’ve eaten at the Geo Italian Restaurant on the beach a couple of times now. The food is really good and very generous portions. The staff are great and don’t mind when we share a beer and the meal. The first time we had the Margherita Pizza, 2nd visit was catch of the day with chips and salad. We’ll be back again - probably the spaghetti bolognaise.

Geo Zanzibar Resort has very friendly staff all around. The hotel isn't a 5 star one ( nor does it claim to be). We were there for breakfast and dinner only since we were in excursions every single day of our stay. The restaurant is excellent!!! The A/C could not keep the room cold because of the unreliable power in Zanzibar. That was the only thing that I didn't like which there was nothing that could be done. They did provide a fan that helped a lot during the night. During the day it does get hot, but since we were not there (except for our last day), it didn't matter. They were very kind and allowed us for a late check out. The staff is treated very nicely by the owners. We had a nice stay overall.
