Very comfortable room with clean bathroom plus super friendly receptionist. Secured parking in front of the premise. Perfect location for those enroute to Kuala Tahan

Hotel service needs to be strengthened, the hygiene is quite satisfactory, the toilet is a bit old and dusty, as for the cockroaches want to rest for one night is still a good choice, but this price can still find a more ideal hotel than this.

I asked the taxi driver to take me to a hotel in town. So, here I was in the Town Hotel and found out later how lucky I had been, it was clean, with all amenities, shower, TV etc. The bosses name is Liong, a Malay/Chinese. He befriended me and took me to various temples, Chinese and Hindu, some out of the way, caves. He also introduced me to some of his relatives and we talked about the old days of the emergency. His father in law was about the same age as me (I was a soldier in Malaysia, during the emergency). He made my trip for me. through memories and hearing about the other side of a nasty secret war. I saw examples that Liong is friendly to most people, his wife has the flower shop downstairs. It is the best hotel I have ever stayed in and I will be back next year.. If a room is absorbed due to age, then it is normal. Not normal it is if it is polluted, that must not be. Brand sticks in the carpet, destroy grips at the store, no hot water for it a refrigerator that is warm. The alleged hot water supplier, which was heatly polluting the tiles in the bathroom. The store and the top box in the dresser had to clean first time. To keep quiet of the window, the window bank and the hang - just not touch!!! Fon is there at the reception, the bed was okay, breakfast is rather not international, but also okay (if you don't expect anything) There is also a pool that people who were in there were fully dressed. I don't know how they react when you wear a bath suit as guest. There is no alcohol, clearly. But they don't even produce glasses so you can take another drink outside on the street. There is no tanning cleaner that you could have taken.

Clean hotel. The room was small and the table along the wall made it difficult to get to the window and the kettle. Beds comfortable. Toilet was clean but does not come with a shower curtain. Ironing boards outside the rooms. Water cooler is also outside the rooms. The room only has 3+1 coffee so bring your own tea or nescafe. No fridge or safe in the room. The hotel is in a housing area and can be noisy if the zumba class is on in one of the shops. After 9.30 pm it is quiet. There is a 7eleven and a few chinese restaurants that open in the evening. An indian curry house is open during the day. Food can be a problem but you can drive to the town which is only about 5 minutes by car. There is a night market every night in town. No tourist attractions close by so this hotel is good as a stop over.

If you visit Taman Negara, there are not that many options where it comes to hotels. So try something a bit different for a change and stay at the Balai Serama guesthouse. We did, and we had the utmost pleasant surprise. First off, you won’t find it. That is why the owners pick you up as soon as you arrive in the village of Kuala Tahan. Be that by boat or by bus. For free, that is. Just call them, or ask a local. Where do you find it these days… The guesthouse consists of a sort of main building where the dining room is. The rooms are situated in a building next to that. In the middle you’ll find a beautiful garden. Ijat, the male owner, takes pride in maintaining it and that shows. In front of the premises, there is the river and jungle. Sometimes elephants pass by. You’ll hear lots of birds singing and the occasional monkey. You will also meet Marja, Ijat’s wife. She is from Holland and she will help you with everything you might possibly need. Be it a car transfer to the jetty, or to go out on an excursion. No trouble at all. The rooms are clean, with a separate bathroom, and a good working airconditioning. It is not that spacious, but large enough for a few days. Out front, there is a terrace with chairs and a small table. The beds sleep well enough for most people. Should you want to enjoy a drink, you can just approach Ijat or Marja. They have a selection of soda’s and beer (no wine) which is then charged to your room and you just pay when you leave. If you want, you can book some excursions through the guesthouse. Especially the whole day jungle tour is highly recommended. It is hard to get an experience like it anytime soon. The whole place has a really laid back atmosphere. No rush. Breakfast and dinner are served in the dining room which is entirely open on all sides. The meals are simple, but tasty and you’ll find that is is good and enough to get to to the next day. I wrote this in English as there are quite a few reviews in Dutch already. Apart from the Dutch guests, you will also find other nationalities so this will make it easier for you to read. I can recommend this place highly. We certainly had a great time and after the crowds and noise of Kuala Lumpur, it turned out to be a gem of tranquility. As a budget hotel you don’t expect much. The room was fine and up to standard. Location was fine. What let this hotel down was the breakfast. The simple choice is expected but we found the food on offer was cold. Eggs, sausages etc were in food warmers which were not in fact switched on . As breakfast was available from 6.30 I can only assume that the food was cooked at about that time so if you came down at say 8.30 or later it was cold to the point of being in-edible

Absolutely love this hotel. Its located at the heart of the national park! Park center is also located within the resort, all the nature walks are literally a stone throw away. If you were to stay elsewhere, you have to cross the river. Breakfast and dinner were amazing! The jungle walk, late berkoh boat ride and night boat ride are absolutely must! Boat rides seat 4pax, so if you are in a party of 4 will be the best else you would have to find others to share or pay for the whole boat. River ferry to the village is just Rm1 each way. 1min ride and a avaliable readily, we didn't had to wait at all. In my opinion this is the beat place to stay in.
