quaint guest house that is run by a retired HK couple, they provided the warmest welcome during our entire trip, and we felt so at home! we spend quite a while chatting with Ms May and her husband and enjoyed the exchange. facilities are homely and basic, with a lovely garden and a kids play area. total of 8 rooms. shaxi ancient town is such a gem, quaint, quiet and is a place where you can really slow down your pace to appreciate what yunnan china is like. spend your time wandering around shaxi ancient town, it’s small (1 hour exploration) but definitely take the time to sit with a cup of coffee or a book. take the yellow taxi (electric buggy) to explore the various smaller towns that surround shaxi. there are appx 7 smaller towns, each with its own charm… we only had time to explore beilongchun, where the pace of life is slow, quiet and healing. the higher you hike, the views are very different! some places to check out: - shaxi avant garde book shop u - universal bakery (alien mascot bakery that sells sourdough, hard crust bread) - bailong tan (small lake) - 山风院子 which has a tree house and a mini cafe - shaxi tea horse museum - old stone bridge, in the afternoon an elderly couple would be there with their goats and you can buy goat milk or take photos. - shaxi friday market!!!

A lovely couple runs this homestay, and they were incredibly attentive and welcoming. The room was cozy and comfortable, making for a wonderful stay.

Highly reconmmend Miss May Hostel in Shaxi. So well managed and maintained in all aspects and details that leaves no spot for improvements. The hostel deserves particularly mentioning of its cleanness here, there and everywhere, and Dove brand shampoo and shower gels in bathroom that I have used to at home all these years ... definately I will come here soon with my family and friends. The hostel courtyard was more beautiful than I'd imagined! My love for Shaxi Village started with the best experience and service at the hotel. Love the thoughts and attention to detail given into designing the room and ensuring the comfort of the guest; heated toilet seat and mattress/blanket, complete quality toiletries, heated lamp in the bathroom, umbrella in case it rains, tea set, etc. The owners were exceptionally warm, friendly and helpful. Definitely will stay here again when I return to Shaxi Village in the future.

The hotel is in a great location, right in the old town. I don't speak Chinese but had seen a video saying that the owner, Joyce, spoke English. She was very helpful after I'd booked and kindly spoke to my previous hotel to get them to assist with a WeChat issue preventing us from adding each other. She then arranged a taxi to pick me up and take me to her accommodation and arranged another for me when I was leaving. Super helpful, especially as the hotel I was heading to afterwards was panicking because I didn't speak Chinese. I didn't need laundry doing, but it was good to know you could get it done here.

Excellent stay. The hostel is sooo beautiful and equipped with everything you need. The location is convenient to visit every checkin points in Shaxi. The hostel owner is really nice and support us a lot during our stay. She could speak English so it's much more easier to communicate if you're a foreigner.

The hotel is located in the old town, fully equipped, the hotel grounds are filled with flowers, especially the rose arrangement in front of the door that makes you just want to take pictures all day with it. The hotel owner was very nice, she helped me book a taxi to Lijiang, and changed money for me when I was short on cash. What I really like about this hotel is that there is a heated bed, my night sleep is good because it is very warm. Cute little Shaxi, cute hotel, cute landlady, that's all I felt when I came to this place.

As soon as I arrived, I felt I was a family member of the friendly and joyful owner couple. They went beyond almost any other hotel I have traveled to, to make my trip to Shaxi the best possible, arranging trips, walking me to destinations, cooking free meals for me, and explaining the local culture so I had more awareness of the beauty that is Shaxi and the Bai people. They did all of this as if it was the most joyful thing they could possibly did with their time, not out of obligation or responsibility. The room was so tastefully decorated, and the garden of abundant flowers and plants and lounge area, all made for a heavenly experience

The best stay place in sha xi gu zhen

The perfect recipe for a great stay. Comfortable bed, clean room, good shower and great location, plus extremely helpful and friendly hosts.

When you come here, it's hard to forget that you are on vacation. The surrounding environment is so relaxing. The place is clean and the design is unique. What I like the most is the three different styles of slippers, so there is no mess. I especially like the covered open-air terrace on the second floor, where you can sit and relax for a long time. It is very suitable for people who are under high work pressure to recuperate. The B&B is near the North Gate, so it was easy for us to find it ourselves. When we left, the housekeeper carried our luggage on a trailer and took us to the station. The boss and his wife are also very nice, and it was a pleasure chatting with the boss lady.
