Nord Luxxor Cabo Branco

Nord Luxxor Cabo Branco

Joao Pessoa|2.53km from city centre
Nord is a chain of hotels in this part of Brazil and we’ve stayed at other locations, and they were alright. This hotel used to be the Skyler Mar Hotel. It has been a Nord hotel for 6 years, but they still have the name of the old hotel on all the rooms (“Skyler Mar Hotel” see photo). I guess they haven’t had the time to take the old signs down. Strike one. We were staying in the city for only one night for the Christmas holidays and the Nord Luxxor Cabo Branco Hotel was conveniently located near where we wanted to go. We checked in and went up to our room and the first thing my wife and I noticed was that the room stunk of mold. It appeared that they tried to clean the room, based on the smell of cleaning supplies, but it didn’t do the trick. I went down to the receptionist to let her know that since I was only staying one night, I didn’t want to change rooms, but that they should be aware of the terrible odor in our unit. She offered to change our room, but I didn’t trust that the next room didn’t have the same problem. Strike two. The room itself was a bit Spartan. The bathrooms did not have individual toiletries but rather, soap and shampoo dispensers on the wall, which I only expect to find in lower-end hotels (this hotel charges about the same as most of the hotels in the area, so the least they could do is give me a bar of soap or charge me less). Our room had a view of an airshaft, but I won’t complain since I didn’t choose to upgrade to a room with a view. There was a lack of lighting fixtures in the room, so you either had to sleep with a bright light on or remain in complete darkness. On the positive side, breakfast, which is included, was pretty good and the restaurant was attractive. Overall, for the the experience we had, I don’t think I’d be staying here again and I don’t think I can recommend you stay here either.

Verdegreen Hotel

Joao Pessoa|2.29km from city centre
I would like to start this review by stating that my wife and I loved Joao Pessoa - this hotel only does a diservice to the beautiful city in which it is located, by mistreating their guests and making them feel like they were ripped off, but the city and the beach itself are wonderful places to visit. We arrived to the resort, with reservations paid for online, only to be told at the front desk that we would have to pay 10% more because -they said- my wife made the reservation ”under the senior discount” and we are not senior citizens. My wife assured me that when she made the reservation using the English version of their online web site there was no such reference that the offered rate was for senior citizens. We didn't make a fuss out of this and simply paid (because we could) but right off the shoe, the magic was gone and the front desk people (none who can speak any decent English at all) were in my opinion shady and unprofessional, not a pleasant experience. That same day upon check-in we grabbed our dirty laundry, placed it in a bag, and proceeded to bring it downstairs to the main lobby to be washed, but the front desk person stated that they had no staff to take on these laundry orders (??!!!) and the order would not be ready until a day after we would have checked out. This is not 4-star service (not even 3-star service, mind you). We then decided to take a quick drive around the beautiful town of Joao Pessoa and, upon our return to the hotel later that day, we were met with a jammed-packed, chaotic parking lot scene where there was nowhere to park, even though we had specifically asked (before making our reservations) whether the hotel would guarantee a secure area to park our rental SUV. We had to wait some 10-15 minutes until another staff member came to the parking lot to move a vehicle so that we could park ours - again, not 4-star service, not even close. Back to our room on the top floor, we immediately noticed the air conditioning was not working properly - it was not cooling down to at least 24C and we knew this because we always bring a thermomether on every trip we do) and as much as we'd wanted to get the comfort temperature in the room that we paid for, at full fare, by then we were so disgusted with the staff and their very poor service that we decided to wing it - we were only planning a two-day stay at this resort anyway and we just didn't have any faith in the support that we would get from the hotel staff in the event we'd place a complaint about the faulty room AC unit. Again, not a 4-star experience. The next morning we went downstairs at barely after 9am and asked for two beach chairs and a beach umbrella only to be informed that they were out of beach umbrellas, which in itself makes it impossible to enjoy the beach under the scorching hot temperatures of 100F+ during carnival season. We went to the hotel next door and a very nice guy rented a very large umbrella and two beach chairs, $3 USD out of pocket. B

Lagoa Park Hotel

Lagoa Park Hotel

Joao Pessoa|1.15km from Independence Square
Location: It is well in the centre, 6 minutes walk from Shopping Tambiá and in front of the Solon Park of Lucena (positive points), during the day the rounds are very moved, but during the night the nearby streets are very stopped and a dangerous, because there are some mendigs and drug users (negative points), so if you walk the night for shopping, go by car. Stay: When we arrived, we realized that the room and bathroom were very little preserved, well different from the photos in the ad. The fridge was roughly drown and with a water well in one of the compartments (indicating that it was spent a long time off), there was no phone to discard the rail and the TV was not working (it was only working next day), But the worst was the bathroom: the shower record was shocking! Even by turning off the electric shower on the switch, the discharges continued, and somehow even when we washed hands on the bathroom tower we felt light shocks. We informed the problem at the reception and asked for a room exchange or bathroom maintenance, the management reported that they would return to the maintenance sector but nothing was done. At the end of the same day, a problem occurred in the transformer in a position in front of the hotel, causing several energy problems (air conditioning, TVs and lamps without working very well), and then the administration informed us that the problem of the shocks could be due to failure in the transformer and that it was the responsibility of the electricity company of Paraíba, but that does not confer, because the shocks occurred before the problem at the post and also the nature of the problem, which was probably failures in the shower landing. Well, the following day the electricity company made the maintenance of the transformer and corrected the problems in the post, but the shocks continued, confirming that the problem was in the installation of the hotel. Only on the third day of the night, one of the staff said that the room we were already had the same problem of shocks in the bathroom other times, so it's something mail-related that the hotel looks big, Only there was a measure taken to use the bathroom of another room that was closed for guests because the air conditioning did not work. The disorder that caused us in the trip was very great, because we could not take a bath or at least wash our hands without choking, nothing serious happened because we were always with rubber sandals and we took care, however, the omission of the hotel and the delay in taking a measure was extremely disgusting and has seriously damaged our trip, as well as the risk of life we are taking. Breakfast: One of the few really positive things was breakfast, which has a variety of tasty foods: yoghurts, coffee, milk, tea, bread, cake, pudding, salts, sweets, fruits, etc. However, there was often a delay in replacing some of the

JR Hotel

Apart from the main tourist points of João Pessoa, it is located in the city centre in a quite desert place during the night, making it very difficult for those who are not traveling by car. The hotel is well structured, but the lack of cleaning and hygiene in the rooms, corridors and other areas of the hotel has made a very bad experience of a simple night, without counting on the many mosquitoes in the dining room. For a less demanding guest with cleaning, you can even compensate the daily value. However, in my opinion, it is more worth paying a little more day in a hotel/houser near the beach and the main attractions of João Pessoa, with a more moved environment near lanchones, bars, restaurants, a pharmacy and clean in their dependences.
Hotel Cabo Branco Atlântico

The room with sea view is very comfortable, clean and has a great shower. We request air conditioning and shower maintenance and we were ready to be taken up. The breakfast is good and varied and starts to be served at 6:30 p.m. Because of the action of the sea, the beach in front is partially prohibited with tapes, but the view of the pool on the cover is wonderful and allows you to see the whole edge. The hotel has a parking in the street behind.

The hotel is very well located, very careful, clean, accessible. Breakfast with a variety of views, swimming pool with beach view. It always gives tips, experience, organizes taxis, borrows towels. They remember my husband's birthday and we won a cupcake, one of the best hotels I have hosted!

The first complaint is with Trip, in the ad shows a type of room, arrivando la is another category. Trip should be better sure before, because I felt misled by Trip. The hotel was very small, especially as I was with wife and baby, difficult to keep the bags.
