Home2 Suites by Hilton Joliet/Plainfield

We went out of our way to stay at Home2 Suites during a weekend/holiday wedding we attended in Joliet. We stayed here based on the reviews and ratings. I travel a lot for work and my wife and I vacation several times a year all over the US. Our experience was just "OK", nothing special by any means especially for the premium price. The front desk and all employees were very welcoming and friendly. We were given room #114 which is located on the main floor right next to the entrance, front desk, breakfast area, and lots of foot traffic. We experienced doors slamming and lots of noise from above floors and hallway on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. It was very disturbing for a middle aged couple in town for a special wedding, especially when waking us up early in the morning. The reviews on the breakfast are overrated. The breakfast was average for similar type hotels. Similar items like HI, Hyatt Place, and Hyatt House. Nothing special. Perception of breakfast presentation might be slightly better. Again, nothing special. Nothing special about the rooms or anything else. As Hilton Honors members, we will not be returning to Home2 Suites.

This has to be one of the BEST and CLEANEST hotels I’ve ever stayed at! My king suite was large, roomy, bright, modern and best of all—super CLEAN! The staff was exceptional, especially Colin! For a prepackaged breakfast, it was very good. And I liked how the staff member heated the breakfast for you (especially during this Covid time.) Even the hallway was bright and clean. The entire hotel smelled fresh, not that mustiness like other hotels. I stayed during New Year’s Eve and there was never a noise issue. Hotel is super quiet! Yes, it’s more pricey, but it’s well worth every cent!! From this experience, I will ALWAYS stay at a Home2 Suites. If you like bright, fresh, modern, friendly, clean hotels—then this place is for you!

The hotel and the staff were phenomenal. Bruce deserves special mention for going above and beyond to make us comfortable while visiting the area for a funeral. The hotel was our getaway from the stress of what we were there for. Choose this hotel! My husband and I travel a lot and we stay in quite a few hotels. This is one of the Best!!

Very pleasant surprise! Our son and daughter-in-law, previous tenants in the West Loop of Chicago, purchased a house in Plainfield, IL in the fall. We were sad to leave our West Loop Homewood Suites/Hampton Inn property just off West Randolph Street, but understood the young couple's need for a house in the suburbs with a baby on the way. The Home2 Suites was a well-managed property. Breakfast was superior to the typical Hampton Inn, but not quite Homewood Suites level. The staff was amazing, and the location was great for us; less than 5 miles to the new house. My spouse liked the fitness center as did our older son, a hardcore fitness person and his wife, a triathlon competitor. If a property can, please those 2, the fitness center is in great shape. There are many restaurants in the near vicinity. Due to the property's location on the edge of a local mall , there is not much street noise at night. Quite a change from a near West Loop location with constant "road races", sirens and train noises throughout the night. We will miss the West Randolph Street restaurants. We will not miss the noise, the increasing number of "unhoused people" and security issues.

From the moment we pulled into the parking lot, we could tell this was a well run property. Not only was it clean, but the staff really made a point to make us feel welcome. This is a newer property and, in recent years, won Hiltons' highly esteemed Connie Award. (We saw it in the lobby) The room was very nice and plentifully stocked withe soaps etc. Lately, this hasn't often been the case when we've traveled. The pool area was clean and temperature perfect. Breakfast was fresh and well stocked, although the hostess didn't engage too much. Such a missed opportunity to make those strong guest impressions if ya ask me. But she did keep the bar looking good! Bruce at the desk was a lot of fun. He took time to engage with the kids in conversation and offered some water for the road. The boys said, "Dad, he's the nicest hotel staff ever". So THANKS BRUCE! Wonderful representation of Hilton. Thanks Home2 team!

I stayed at the Joliet Home2 with my daughter and her friend for a soccer tournament. We had been in Chicago for the previous four days, so I chose Home2 because I figured we would have a fairly spacious room with a kitchenette and on-site laundry to wash clothes and soccer gear. I was not disappointed! The room was great and the entire staff was exceptionally pleasant. One of the elevators was broken so I was a bit concerned that it would be a hassle, but the working elevator was speedy and we never had to wait long. My only complaint was the pocket door for the bathroom. There was no handle to keep the door from sliding completely into the wall, so we had to be careful with it to avoid the need to get down on the floor to get a hold on the door from the bottom. I have never run into this problem with a pocket door in a hotel in the past. I will definitely book here again if I find myself in this area!

We stayed here for a spring break getaway combined with a dance competition. We had a room next door to friends we were traveling with, so I appreciated that they worked to have us near each other. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was good (better than many other hotels). The room itself was nice - couch that could be pulled out to a bed - we didn't need the extra bed, but the couch was actually pretty comfy. Lots of shelving/storage since it's considered for extended stay. Full size fridge. Staff was generally very friendly and helpful. The cons - Hilton honors points only accrues at half the rate - I didn't realize this ahead of time and it isn't a problem with the hotel but rather the brand. Disappointing because I really thought this was about to become my preferred hotel within the brand for family travel. We also had some people at the hotel who were smoking **** at the hotel (legal in Illinois) but it stunk and even would travel through vents to other rooms. They did put signs on doors reminding of the non-smoking policy, but it felt like we were going to get charged for smoking when we weren't rather than addressing the issue at the source (and you could narrow down the source by walking through halls!) I assume this isn't a regular issue, so would consider staying here again because the hotel itself was very nice. Especially helpful if you are traveling with family because the rooms are large.
