Outrigger Honua Kai Resort & Spa

We rent from Maui Resort Rentals and always reserve Honua Kai Konea room 214. Kathy, is the owner and she keeps this place well equipped. Towel rental, wifi, beach chairs and umbrella are all in the room for you to use during your stay as well as BBQ grill kit. The kitchen is stocked with spices, cutlery, service for 8 (so we don't have to do dishes everyday), and even a blender. It has a huge deck with a mountain view. Love this place!

First, 5 stars for KBM who was very responsive and helpful with all questions. I never had to wait long for a response. Our condo H-746 and amenities were just as represented, clean, well stocked with kitchen essentials, towels, laundry detergent, beach chairs, umbrellas and even water noodles. Although our unit was listed as “partial oceanview”, all you needed to do was turn your head to the left for a spectacular ocean view, and look down to see much of the beautiful resort property. A couple of caveats: if you’re not into little kids and don’t want to share the pool and hot tub with all those pampers, there is only one “quiet pool”. Remember it’s a condo resort and very family friendly. Also, KBM offers a free “standard” car rental, which was a VW JETTA. Also a discounted upgrade was available which we took advantage of. It was a Cadillac Escalade. Maui’s parking is horrendous. Stick with the Jetta unless you can park a firetruck. That Cadillac was a beast.

We stayed here back in 2014 with our 3 boys. When searching for a place to stay this time around, we immediately looked for availability at Honua Kai. This resort offers much, much more for the complete vacation experience. The resort is grand, clean, spacious, plenty of amenities to relax. The 3 or 4 pools and a few hot tub spots around will have already relaxed our senses. The grounds are beautiful and tidy. The beautiful ocean is a mere walk across the well-manicured lawns, past the pools, and right onto the golden sands of Maui beach. We can walk to eat or a short drive, both of which offers variety of choices. Or opt for light cooking in the unit or grill on 4 readily available ocean-front huge gas grills. Or choose to savor at the famous Duke's restaurant, right on this property. We rented through Maui Resorts Rentals as we had done previously. They were very responsive to our needs during our stay. Their fee adder breaks down to ~$65/day, so take advantage of their expertise and knowledge should you are new travelers to Maui. We can't say enough as to why we love this resort!

What a wonderful property. We’ve been to Maui many times but first time here. When we return this is where we will stay. Pricey but worth it. Beautiful large rooms/condo. Comfortable beds. Our studio faced courtyard and ocean. Amazing view (see photos). Staff very friendly. The pools (there are 4-5) are great. Dukes restaurant on the property. Quiet end of Kanapali beach. And beach is amazing. Best snorkeling we’ve ever had was right on beach here!

This resort is exceptional. We had such a great time here and will go back soon. The grounds are immaculate! Very impressive. The condos are roomy and clean. The staff at the resort are welcoming and very helpful. Highly recommend Honua Kai! Awesome!

We spent 7 days in room 604 at the main entrance building, as many said here the rooms are spacious, up to date and had great views. About the second or third day, we noticed many cockroaches, and when you see many there are usually thousands. We immediately notified the front desk when we noticed but it was in the evening and they told us they would send a cleaning crew and have the maintenance team set out bait traps. We had two little kids with us so not a great option but we went with it. They told us they would get all this done starting at 9am. They cleaning crew didn’t arrive until 9:40am but they came. Not sure when the maintenance people came because we left for the day, but we did notice traps. At the time I asked for a manager to contact me because when you spend a total of almost $15,000 on a place to stay for vacation, you do not expect a roach infested 3 bedroom condo. No one ever called me, not once. No one followed up. We continued to see roaches in our room the entire time we were there. One crawled up our nephews arm and freaked him out. We had to put all our food in the fridge just to keep them out. One roach got smashed in the fridge door! It was disgusting and their manager couldn’t even bother herself to contact me to find a solution. DO NOT COME HERE ESPECIALLY IN ROOM 604 IF YOU PLAN ON ENJOYING A ROACH FREE ENVIRONMENT WHILE SPENDING A LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY ON A ROOM. YOU WILL NOT BE HAPPY

Excellent resort in an excellent location. This was our first time in Maui and we decided to stay in the Kaanapali area at the Honua Kai. We rented through a resort rental company and were impressed with how easy the check in process was. Be sure to grab groceries on the way to the resort (in Kahului). The condo we had was amazing, 2 beds and two baths for three adults and two children. There are numerous elevators in the building, so you will always be near one, with direct access to the underground parking garage. The resort has multiple pools and none were never really crowded, but things started to pick up the weekend before the 4th of July. Having Dukes’s on the resort was a bonus, being able to place orders poolside. The beach at the resort is pristine with reefs for snorkeling. There are food trucks and a grocery store with in walking distance. The onsite store is a bit pricey. We will definitely be back!

Loved everything about our vacation, and the unit/accommodations were perfect in every way! Our contact for the unit was always available any time we reached out with questions. The view of the mountains allowed us to see several rainbows. Kids loved the pool area, Dukes was great when we did not feel like cooking in the unit, and the snorkeling right off the beach was absolutely amazing!!

The condo we stayed in (919) was great in terms of amenities and sleeping arrangements. We were close to the lobby, pool and beach. We did have to request a frying pan. I do wish there were more restaurants on site - Duke’s was delicious but a quick self-serve place would be nice. The cat sanctuary was lovely! The beach was so nice! The pools were well used - but the water was cloudy and better filtering/testing would have made this a 5 star rating. Despite the signage, people notoriously reserved lounge chairs. We were there one day for 3 hours next to a chair with a towel and the person never showed.
