This hotel is a gem, it is situated on the outskirts of Kalkan in Kalamar Bay, it sits on a hillside overlooking Kalamar Bay, Mouse and Snake islands! Its location means there are lots of levels and lots of steps but amazing views!! There are 2 pools and a beach club that offers several decks and sunbathing areas as well as a beautiful restaurant overlooking the sea, perfect for a lazy lunch and a chance to get out of the sun! The sea is perfect for swimming and snorkelling or just for cooling off!! It is a quiet and peaceful hotel and charming! We have been visiting for about 14 years now and have seen many changes and improvements, new rooms and suites but the hotel still remains a quiet oasis. Kalkan and its beach are a short taxi ride away, taxis can be ordered at reception and you never wait longer than 3 or 4 minutes! Kalkan has a Thursday market and many wonderful restaurants but closer to The Kulube is House kitchen and bar, a 5 minute walk away, it is a lovely restaurant serving a variety and wide choice of dishes. I guarantee you will visit more than once, Ali the owner makes you very welcome! We stay in a deluxe room which has a huge terrace overlooking the bay, it has shade in the afternoons and a bistro set as do all the rooms. Breakfast includes cheese, jams, bread, yogurt, tomatoes, salad, cereal, hard boiled eggs, dried fruit, olives, omelettes and as much tea and coffee as you can drink. We often take a tea or coffee back to our terrace. You are also provided with a litre bottle of water to keep every day with breakfast. The rooms do not have tea or coffee making facilities but we take a travel kettle!

Just returned from a week at the Kulube. I agree with many of the previous comments. Location - a really nice tranquil spot. If you can deal with lots of steps the bathing platforms/beach club are perfect. Plenty of beds. Probably too far, given the heat and hilly location, to walk into town but taxis are only 170TL and can usually be shared with others waiting. For us wanting to spend most days on the platforms reading etc this did not pose a problem. Rooms - ours was lovely. Basic but spacious and clean. Could obviously do with a kettle and tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast - simple but with enough variety and plentiful. Bar/restaurant - good and well staffed if a little expensive (probably comparable to other beach clubs though). Staff - for me this where the hotel excels. Without exception all staff were superb. Attentive without being obtrusive and always happy to assist. Having previously stayed in hotels in town I really can’t decide which I prefer - pros and cons for each. Would I stay again - absolutely.

This hotel has incredible potential but is lacking on the personal, smaller details. We originally booked via an agent and we were put in a very old, very dark room with very basic security and a glass door. There was no safe in the room, and the shower leaked. The room was absolutely tiny. We spoke to staff and found that 80% of the rooms were unoccupied (solely because the season hadn’t started yet) and upon visiting the other rooms we found them to be absolutely beautiful. They were new, clean, light and spacious and some had private pools. We paid to upgrade but as the hotel was so empty we were disappointed that we’d been placed in a room which should now be closed for renovation. We thought that a safe and a coffee machine in the room would have made a huge difference. Perhaps also some basic soaps. The staff were amazing at this hotel and we would definitely come back (Marina who was working on the poolside bar was amazing and made us feel completely at home), but there are some very minor improvements that could be made to take the hotel from a 3 to 4 or even 5 star rating.

Huone oli kulunut, vaikka useimmat huoneet jo remontoitu. Remontti kesken. Hotelli oli meren rannalla ja oma uimaranta. Palvelu hyvää ja ystävällistä.

Great location, amazing views, excellent staff, own beach club We stayed in one of the superior suites, room 124, lots of space with large wrap around balcony. The hotel and grounds are kept very clean and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. Very peaceful location, little bit out of town, but taxis are cheap.

Wow what a place! We attended for a two week stay whilst out for a family wedding, first time to Kalkan and I can’t wait to come back already. The hotel rooms are basic but you have everything you need, the rooms in the annex are extremely spacious. Yes there are a lot of steps and it isn’t ideal if you have mobility issues but if you can handle steps this place is amazing. I cannot rate the staff more highly they have been so attentive and nothing is too much trouble. I honestly cannot wait to return this place, it has stolen a piece of my heart. Between the hotel, the grounds, the staff and the beach club if you are considering this place just book it, you will not be disappointed.

This hotel is just amazing! It’s relaxing, stress free and beautiful. The staff are exceptional, especially Haque who organises the wonderful breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble for them. It’s exceptionally clean and cared for. Most guests are frequent returners, which is what we will be doing! The taxis are about £4 one way to the town. Would not advise to walk unless you’re ultra fit and bored!! Numerous restaurants and shops. All very good. However, would not recommend this hotel if you have mobility issues. It’s built on a steep hill side and has lots and lots of stairs, some very steep in some places.

Incredible location - was exactly what we wanted/needed in a holiday: simple sunbathing platforms with ladders straight down to the warmest of seas with crystal clear waters for snorkelling. Not a bucket & spade in sight. The wait staff were great - we had the most delicious salads (halloumi/feta/tuna) brought to us on our sunloungers every day. Traditional Turkish coffee can be ordered from the beach bar too. The breakfast and dinner host (Hassain?) worked his socks off every day; nothing was too much for him. Apparently, he's been working there for 17 years. Always helpful, attentive and cheery. Can't say the same, unfortunately, for the male reception staff who were nothing short of useless. Ask for information or a recommendation? They don't know. Or they just can't be bothered. The location is great if you want to get away from it all. Taxis to Kulube town were about 3 pounds one way. We ate in the town most nights as the hotel menu was fairly limited for vegans. Mey & Meze was a favourite, while Sea & Blue was worth a visit if only to see their toilets! We didn't bother with the marina area as it was just a bit too 'flashy' and unauthentic for us. You do run the gauntlet of being hassled by restaurant owners in the old part of the town but you get used to it. The hotel itself is a little rundown but the setting more than makes up for it. Room tips: We booked two Annexe Superior Double Room with Limited Sea View and Balcony rooms. They were fairly basic. The TV didn't work and there's no kettle or tea-making facility. No toiletries other than a slither of soap. No wifi. The bed has one thin blanket (which didn't even cover the bed). No duvet. One rather lumpy pillow each. Air conditioning worked well but make sure you switch off the control light otherwise it'll keep you awake all night (if the standard of bed linen hasn't already). We asked for two extra sheets and an extra blanket, which reception duly provided. You can also get beach towels from reception or at the beach bar.
