Service staff were excellent! I asked for their help to make a reservation at restaurant for me and they really went all out to help! Amenities at the onsen were top notch skincare products and I even bought some at the store. Hotel was very clean. Do note that if you choose a Japanese style room, you will have to lay the futon out yourself! It’s a short walk from the station but it can get very dark during winter nights, which can be a little intimidating when you are walking alone.

Great onsen both private and public

This time I chose the old Karuizawa Harvest Festival Hotel, which was a surprising choice. In Karuizawa, a city full of beautiful buildings, the old Karuizawa Harvest Festival Hotel has a beautiful exterior and interior that is no less beautiful than any other hotel. The room also has a beautiful forest view, and the atmosphere is very comfortable. The facilities are very complete, the public hot springs and breakfast are impeccable. Most importantly, the considerate and warm welcoming attitude of the hotel staff makes us, a group of travelers who have come all the way to Karuizawa, feel like we are being received by caring friends. So heartwarming. I personally highly recommend this hotel. If you are coming to Karuizawa, I highly recommend choosing this hotel as your stay.

The public spaces were well-maintained, and the snowy scenery was beautiful on the day we visited. The room was very spacious for the price, and even had a sofa. However, I was surprised that the bathroom in the room was old-fashioned and had mold on the shower curtain, which may have been because we were expected to use the large public bath. The bed was neither good nor bad. I think this is a good value hotel in Karuizawa, where hotel prices are becoming increasingly expensive. The breakfast was varied and delicious. I didn't get bored even after staying for several nights.

The room wasn't cleaned very often, and since I stayed there for two nights, when I went back the next day, it had been cleaned the next time. The location of the room was good, with a view of the autumn leaves. The front desk was very unfriendly and disappointing. When I asked for an extra bed to be installed, I was simply told to do it myself. I should have done this the day before I checked in. It was painful to install something that I didn't know about even though I was tired and exhausted from traffic jams. It felt like I was sleeping on a sofa, it was hardly a bed, and it was so small that I couldn't get tired even when I slept. Extra beds are not recommended for children other than elementary school age and younger. The location of the hotel is convenient as it is close to the city center. Although the exterior is beautiful and the garden is nice, the interior is not so good. The restaurant is cold and not tasty. There are many delicious restaurants nearby, so you should go there.

Within walking distance from the station. Old Karuizawa and Kumoba Pond are also nearby. The trees on the grounds had changed color and many people enjoyed walking around. I think the season of fresh greenery will also be nice. The appearance of a resort hotel gives you the feeling that time passes slowly. It's a members-only resort, so it's only natural that priority should be given to those people, but is it just a little naive to think that the distinction is too easy to understand? It is quite crowded due to the tourist season and travel support. I noticed many breaches of etiquette by people who were probably visitors. It is true that there are a lot of precautionary measures such as prohibitions and requests to refrain from doing so. I didn't feel any hospitality from most of the staff, whether they were exhausted from such days or if it was just normal. The cleaning staff are the most pleasant. Even though it was a weekday, there were many people with children. From the time I returned from dinner and the public bath, I heard the sound of running around coming from upstairs. The situation was unbearable, so I called the front desk for the first time in the history of my stay. “Yes,” I answered the phone indifferently. When I gently explained the situation to him, he responded, "Yes." I thought there were a lot of complaints like this. Will it be affected by the structure of the building? That time was 11pm. When I said, ``At this time,'' I suddenly heard ``I'll check it right away,'' and ``I'm sorry.'' The response was quick and the next morning was quiet except for a few noises. This was my first time in Karuizawa. We've been to most of the tourist spots in the Tokyo metropolitan area, and my family loves visiting hot springs and hotels, so I think we go there often. My children are still in elementary school, so we don't often get to stay in luxury hotels. What I'm looking forward to is the facilities and the food. I always stay overnight on a whim, so dinner is usually a buffet. This time, it was a long weekend, but it was typhoon season, so I thought it would be quiet, but as expected of Karuizawa, the outlet was very crowded. But does an outlet of this size charge parking fees? (It's free if you use it) And there's a traffic jam because of the gate. There are not enough staff in the food court, probably because the staff has been reduced due to COVID. There are a lot of problems everywhere. And the hotel. I booked it because I liked the appearance and whether it had a pool, but I was surprised when I called in advance. Since there are four of us with two children, I assumed that we would have an extra bed or a sofa bed, and we would like to use the room spaciously, so we only need one additional bed. When I contacted them, they said that they would make the bed for us, so we could do it freely. We paid the elementary school student's fee and paid 90,000 yen for one night for four people with breakfast! I was surprised that we had to make the bed. And the bath mat in the bathroom was pretty messy. The thing that surprised me the most was the disposable chopsticks. They said that it was crowded and we couldn't make a reservation for dinner, so we had no choice but to take it out. There is takeout in the hotel, but the check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and the deadline is 4:00 p.m. For some reason, we couldn't make it in time and took the takeout outside, but there were no chopsticks, so we went to the front desk, but even though it was evening, the front desk was already gone. When I asked the staff who answered the intercom if they had chopsticks, they told me to buy them at the convenience store. I bought disposable chopsticks for 110 yen from an unfriendly old lady. I've stayed at many hotels and inns, but most of them deliver chopsticks to your room, but this is the first time I've ever gone to the convenience store to buy them. This is the first time I've had my bed made outside of a cottage, and above all, this service for this price. It's a first-time experience. This has never happened in a business hotel or a first-class hotel. If they're short on staff and can't keep up, and they don't have money, there's nothing you can do. My impression of Karuizawa is that even though it is a tourist destination, and a very popular one at that, it is unnecessarily far away and unnecessarily expensive. There are plenty of other places with similar fun and nature. I recommend it to people who enjoy the status of being a purveyor to the Imperial Family and who enjoy spending money unnecessarily.

I stayed with my family of four during the Obon holidays. Access from the station is also close, making it easy to go anywhere around Kyu-Karuizawa. The hotel pool was great and the kids loved it. The staff at the hotel were very kind to us, and we had the best summer vacation.

Karuizawa is horizontally long and you have to walk quite a bit to get to the end, but Old Karuizawa is also horizontally long, but the character ``工'' means it doesn't make you feel too far away. The customer service attitude is similar to other Harvests. This time, we stayed on a plan due to exterior wall renovation work. Hmm...whether or not the construction is done, the exterior will remain almost the same, so it's not that great. I've researched this before and found out that the way the rooms are designed is unique. The large windows make you feel like this is a higher-grade hotel. Equipment etc. are the same as other Harvest. There is a circulator on the ceiling, so it's convenient. Even if the equipment is a little old, it doesn't matter at all, and the plumbing is new, so you can live a comfortable life. However, the stairs in the room echo. I don't know if it's the next room or the room above and below, but sometimes I hear a bang. Soundproofing measures are not good enough. I'm also happy that the room is close to the hot springs. The hot springs are transported from Oze Onsen. The source is the same as Karuizawa, but the difference from Karuizawa is that the hot spring bath is smaller. Three people is the limit if there is no stress. It flows together with hot springs and circulating hot water, so it flows normally. Personally, it's a pity that it doesn't look like a hot spring. The other bathtub is Shinyu, but it has a jet bath. The open-air bath is also a true bath, and there is a hot spring at the end. Dinner is a buffet. It is one rank higher overall. There were various meat dishes, including roast beef. There are also menus not found in other hotel buffets. Especially five-grain rice? It's the first time I've ever had sushi. However, there is no punch overall. Desserts are especially weak. It is a common Viking ready-made product level. I can appreciate the freshly baked Baumkuchen, but after the main course, the Baumkuchen is a little too full to eat...I wish it would have been served in the morning if possible. The breakfast was good with delicious meat dishes, but after all the dessert is weak. By the way, the next night I went to a buffet at a certain Karuizawa Prince, but it was a little different... The building of the Harvest-class hotel in Karuizawa was the best, so I want you to do your best in other parts as well.

The exterior of the hotel, the interior of the lobby and dining room, and the garden visible from the dining room were all calming and gorgeous. The rooms were well-cleaned and had no unpleasant smells. The only thing that was a shame was the hot springs. The water temperature was a little low. The indoor bath was small. If you can ignore that, the location was good and the environment was quiet, so it was comfortable.
