Included : Coffee and tea station Flashlight and lighter Umbrellas Room safe Anaya soap, shampoo, conditioner Hair dryer Bath robes Outdoor shower Private pool and cabana Path to the ocean FOOD : the chef will accommodate any request and his dishes look like a work of art. Excellent flavours and choice to suit your taste. Staff : the manager, Nivot was very kind and courteous. He will go above and beyond to make your stay pleasant. TIPS : Beach shoes are necessary as the shoreline is rocky. Cheetah’s Rock is 10 minutes away and well worth a visit. Book a massage, the ladies are wonderful and you overlook the ocean and listen to the waves during your choice of treatment. Stone Town is a short drive and they will arrange a driver to take you on a tour, we customized our tour, to see what interested us. This is a small hotel and a great escape, I would definitely return.

The seaside hotel, although the beach is not very good, but the scenery is pleasant. The 5th floor is a restaurant. The restaurant is very good for eating and watching the sea. It is suitable for vacations and is about 5 kilometers from the urban area.
Located in the heart of Stonetown, our 4-star hotel is a fascinating replica of an ancient Zanzibarian building. The Golden Tulip Stonetown Boutique hotel promises traditional vintage and luxury in Stone Town.

I landed at Golden Tulip because Trip.com messed up my booking elsewhere, and I only found out about it at the last minute.
The location is right by the port, on a side of town that feels quite sketchy. However, Stone Town is small and safe, so it didn’t matter too much. The rooms are nice enough. They have everything you need. People are friendly all over Zanzibar, and at the Golden Tulip no less. The pool is lovely, and service is okay. Sometimes I had to ask more than once, phone down because my towel had disappeared, or guide them through my own bill.
The restaurant is pretty bad. I’m not a particularly fussy eater, but don’t feel the need to eat bad food. I ordered three tester dishes on my first day, and didn’t finish any. Another traveler had a similar experience. Breakfast is okay. There is fruit, yoghurt, pastries, omelettes on request, toast, cereal sometimes, and a variety of hot dishes. Nobody seems to notice when the table has no cutlery or when the coffee, milk or a given hot dish runs out. Most days, I found the cereal (if they had it), fruit, and at least one hot dish edible.

After just over a week of traveling around Tanzania, my family and I spent four nights at LUX Marijani. The grounds and resort spaces were immaculate, as was my room. The staff were all incredibly kind and careful, including management who personally introduced themselves to us the first couple of days we were there. We really enjoyed the buffet service and felt that there was a wonderful selection of East African food as well as options not traditional to Tanzania too. Being from the United States, the service the few times I ordered a drink al a carte was just a bit slower than what I’m used to. However, I didn’t mind at all, and in fact loved that I could really take my time at the restaurant. There was nowhere I needed to be, and it was nice to not have to rush through my day. The desserts were also exceptional and we were so glad to get to know Desi, the pastry chef. It’s evident just how much he cares about his work and getting to know guests as well. The entertainment at dinner was always exciting, and it was a fun added touch to an already marvelous experience. My sister and her boyfriend and I loved getting involved in beach volleyball, and had an even better time getting to know Abdul, who does such a good job organizing it. He really became a friend by the time we left. At the end of our stay, we also got to know Raphael, who was a lot fun to talk to. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the beach itself isn’t as relaxing as you might expect with local vendors practically lining up to sell you souvenirs or services. It’s nothing against LUX, as we’d have the same experience on any beachfront hotel or resort in Zanzibar but it’s certainly something to be aware of when planning your visit. Still, the lounge chairs set up on the sand overlooking the crystal clear ocean are pleasant and perfectly quiet. We found ourselves spending hours by the pool—between how lovely the weather was and how well kept the facilities are, it’s easy to lose track of time there. It was an absolutely unforgettable stay at a quality I don’t think I’ll find anywhere else. I was sad to leave, and truly miss the people there, but am so excited to go back again.

On arrival I was upgraded to a sea view room which was decorated in semi traditional style which I loved. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Food in the restaurant was very tasty. The pool was the best I’ve experienced on my stay on the island. Good size for lap swimming and just relaxing. They have a cute little rustic outdoor weights area and there’s a great little shop onsite (Duotone) which hires out kite surfing, windfoils and SUP’s, etc. Mvuvi has 2 locations. There’s also a great view from the top floor of the hotel. They do massage up there but you can go up and check out the view. I was at The Beach Lounge location but the other location was also a great spot for a meal (on the deck or upstairs) - it also has accommodation and a book swap library for avid readers. I hadn’t been lucky with snorkeling in ZNZ but Kiwengwa presented the best starfish viewing and a good mix of marine life which I hadn’t found in other locations. In general, Kiwengwa lists everything in USD but you can pay TZS if you ask. I found the northern end much busier with larger hotels and many Massai and shops. I preferred the quieter space of The Beach Lounge but the action was only a short walk away. I would definitely stay here again.

Our stay at the Zanzibar Queen Hotel was truly unforgettable. From the friendliest staff to the most delicious food - it truly exceeded our expectations. We did the Have It All offer and stayed in the beach front bungalow with plunge pool. When we arrived at our room we were blown away (the photos don't do any justice!). We were given a beautiful and delicious fruit plate as well as a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate our honeymoon. The room was very spacious, extremely clean and the bed was comfortable. The room had A/C, a french press coffee maker, kettle, tea, a mini fridge with soda and beer (which was included in our package), robes and slippers. Not all drinks and menu items were included in the Have It All offer but we found that there was more than enough items to choose from. The food was absolutely delicious. Every morning there was a breakfast buffet with pastries, fresh juices, coffee, tea, salads, fresh fruit and an egg station that also had waffles and french toast. Lunch was a la carte and there were plenty of options. Most dinners were served as 3 courses but one night there was a BBQ with a live band (SO much fun) and another night there was a Swahili dinner with drummers from different local tribes which was very cool! Yoga was offered at the hotel which we did most mornings. We also had excursions included in our offer - we did the sunset cruise, snorkeling trip and massage. The snorkeling trip was amazing and the massage was the best massage we've ever had. The sunset cruise was an experience but it wasn't really what we were expecting based on the description. We can't wait to come back!

We stayed here for one week in a superior bungalow in December over new years. The welcome was lovely and personally met by the guest experience manager with a refreshing cold wet flannel and a chilled fresh juice bought to you as well. Once the paper work is done you get shown around your room. Our bungalow was big and clean with a big comfortable bed, the room was cleaned and mopped and every day, in the evening a turn down service where they also sprayed the room and removed any rubbish. There was a kettle, fridge, coffee machine, hairdryer , a free safe with the key on your door key ring and fresh safe drinking water which is replenished every day as well as drinks in the fridge. We booked directly with the hotel and booked the experienced couples package which included 7Nts all inclusive, airport transfers, trip to the spice farm and stone town. Food is cooked to order you get a breakfast and lunch menu with specials at lunch and dinner is a new menu every night. All produce is washed in bottled water and ice is also made from it as well. The food is delicious but the service doesn’t match the standard which lets the experience down. We could be waiting up to an hour for food and drinks get forgotten so you have to re order again and again. It’s a shame as having this organised in a more efficient way would only improve their guests experience, there are enough staff but seem to hang around chatting or polishing glasses with their backs to the guests. The staff are lovely and genuinely seem happy at work and always have a friendly welcome and or smile for guests. Tips are in a box at reception and divided to all staff. Service is slow around the pool and we didn’t see any snacks or offer of them. The pool bar hardly ever has anyone there serving. The jetty is a lovely place to lounge as there’s a lovely breeze and even though the tide is way out they have made a pool to reserve sea water which is cleaned every 2 days, there is a bar at the jetty as well but again you only get service if it is staffed even though it says it’s open 11-17:00. They have a tip box at reception that gets divided among all staff so this is a good incentive for them to all do their best. They also have a basket for any donation for the less fortunate in the community which was lovely. I purchased some sanitary pads when we went to stone town and put them in there. There isn’t much outside the hotel so you can’t just go for a walk. There is no beach due to the tide and the mangrove it’s just sandy mud in the day and when the tide comes is it’s right up to the hotel. They do have a transfer service to and from a beach which is an 11 minute drive and you need to book it the day before. All you need to do is purchase a drink at the beach bar for the use of their beds. You take beach towels from the hotel to use there. The general manager and guest experience manager are around for any needs or questions you have. Due to the resort being small they r

Spent three nights at Tulia post-safari with a friend and as others have said, our experience was perfection. The setting, the beautiful gardens, the ocean, the meals, the nightly entertainment, the huge spotless rooms with AC, the all-inclusive drinks, it was all just what we needed. But what makes Tulia special is the wonderful staff who will be your friends from the moment you check in. It must be 6 to 1 staff/guest ratio and most of them somehow know your name (and your favorite drink) by the first night. It's a really special and fun vibe and if you only want to relax they understand this too and you will have plenty of privacy. They even arranged an outdoor screening of Lion King when we mentioned that this movie is how we know ”hakuna matata!” We almost cried when we left and had we not already paid for our next resort across the island, we would have cancelled it and stayed longer at Tulia! Special shoutout to Kirui and Peter who watched over us the whole stay and made sure we were happy from the moment we checked in; to Jonas at reception; to our favorite bartenders Moses at the beach bar and Felix, Emmanuel and Abdul at the main bar; to Lillian for the best massage ever, and to Lucas, our favorite Maasai guard who always had a smile on his face and loves to dance. We hope to return as soon as possible!
GGuest UserBeautiful relaxing holiday. Definitely worth a stay if you want to be away from the crowds. Resort is clean and staff are very friendly and always helpful. Not a swimming beach, but pool is awesome. If you can, do the all inclusive as small water is $1. Small glass pineapple juice $3.....(also check all that the travel agent tells you....get everything in writing). Enjoy your holiday....
GGuest UserWe are a family of 5 and had always wanted to visit Zanzibar to explore the area better. We booked Moja Tuu for our family and we were extremely happy with the stay and services that were provided by the wonderful staff. The villa was absolutely gorgeous and the addition of the private pool turned out to be great for the family as we were able to make the most out of it by spending quality time together. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the rooms as the rooms were more spacious than what we expected. The food was delicious and there were a wide range of options to choose from. The staff was very considerate and careful with their work. They behaved in a very friendly manner and made it a point to make everyone feel comfortable. Given the location, as it was close to all the tourist attractions, the price that we paid was definitely worth it. I recommended it to all my friends and relatives to book a stay there and have a first-rate experience at Zanzibar.
