Sleep Inn Kelso Longview

I've stayed at this hotel various times over the last 20 plus years. And it had gotten a bit run down. They've recently finished a major remodel and wow, what a difference. Everything is new, from the beds, to the carpets, to the decor. They did a great job of revitalizing an old property. It is now better than the Red Lion across the parking lot. Great staff too.

Understand that this is framed as a 2-star hotel: From the outside, this place isn't great, it is on the same property as a mall, but our room (201) was very clean and the wet bar, fridge, dishes, and microwave were very convenient. Like many older hotels, they have switched from carpeting to vinyl flooring, which I prefer. When I turned from the lobby to the hallways, I was concerned: the carpeting is really tired and has some noticeable stains. The only real downsides were noise from passing trains (not that close, but the horn echos across the valley) and the A/C which was very noticeable as it cycled on and off. It's safe and clean for a night or two and the price was fair.
Comfort Inn & Suites Kelso - Longview

The Comfort Inn in Kelso seems convenient, and it is right next door to I-5. However, the hotel is an older building that lacks an elevator. If hauling baggage upstairs is burdensome, look elsewhere. During my stay, a water pipe in an adjoining Utility Room lost a bolt, resulting in a torrent of water coming through the wall into my room. I called the Main Desk, and they didn't know what to do. They had to search to even find a key into the Utility Room. I had to scramble to gather all my belongings and pack them into my car. Some items were destroyed, like a hardcover book and my calendar-planner. There was 2 inches of water in my room. Water from the busted pipe went down the main corridor and into nearby rooms. Kelso Firemen arrived and squeegeed the water out a back doorway. I got no help from the hotel, and I had to search for other lodging for the night. It was a nightmare!
