We stayed for the third time in a deluxe suite because we love the extra luxury. Very quiet because the spa was closed for a refurb. The hotel was as fabulous as always and the staff were all lovely. Menu in the Brasserie could do with a revamp but the Mizu was spot on. Great views from our room and the front of the hotel. Christmas decorations were being put up and they were very special indeed. Definitely be back next year.

Fantastic hotel. Good food. Great location. Bus stop straight across the road. The best kept hotel we’ve stayed in so far. Make sure you book the spa in advance. We missed out. Straight onto the lake for a lovely walk of the boat to Keswick. Best pornstar cocktail in the world!!!

A hotel resting on its laurels and reliant upon its outstanding location. Dinners were considerably overpriced and mediocre, an enormous disappointment, over elaborate. The breaded duck leg was not v meaty and full of gristle. Breakfasts were superb. The room, an expensive one, had traces of muddy paw prints on the window sills and the waste bin hadn’t been emptied. Otherwise, fairly clean but cramped. The elevator was too small and queues were unavoidable. We had to walk through the hotel in our spa gowns to access the spa, rather embarrassing! The staff were very professional and helpful, in particular the reception staff. Don’t go if you have an allergy to dogs.

This was an 18th birthday present, at first we wanted to change the dates for a day before due to something coming up this was during the time we had allocated for free changes a month or two before the arrival date however they declined this. We then only found out the spa wasn’t open the day before the arrival date as we called in to book. Despite paying the same price as if the spa was open. They stated they had sent emails through ***********, however we recieved none of these emails regarding this and *********** confirmed. We tried to cancel so we could last minute book somewhere else however they would not let us even when *********** explained the situation. Reception staff were rude and unhelpful when calling blaming it on *********** and not taking any responsibility. After a while of back and fourth they told us we are able to change the booking date which we wasn’t able to do at such late notice and plans being changed as they wouldn’t let us change before. We ended up going the following day as we could get a full refund, we were allocated room 215 with a view off an another building wall, completely outdated and different to the picture they post online. The room and hallways smelt very off putting, our bed in the room was covered in different types of hairs, hair in the bath tub, and also dirt on the shower curtain that looked like faeces. We called up and was met with the manager who showed us two other rooms, we ended up with room 137 which view was not the best either. however the bathroom was cleaner but there was still hairs to be found in the bed. We were also woken up on the saturday morning by builders. We had a meal at the Mizu Restaurant on the first night which was very over priced, food was out within 10 minutes off ordering so couldn’t have been that fresh. I also told them I had a shellfish allergy and I had forgot to ask to change the prawns on the platter to something else, however I was still served this, fortunately my allergy is not as severe. The hotel false advertised and is not the luxury hotel you booked, it is however in a great location.

Lovely hotel in a fantastic location with a myriad of walks right outside the door. The hotel sits alongside the Southern end of Derwentwater at the head of the Borrowdale valley. The waterfalls from the hotel takes its name are directly behind the hotel. Food and service is excellent and the hotel is very relaxing with lovely grounds and plenty of comfortable places to sit and relax. A free car park in front of the hotel is a bonus. Only mild complaint was the bed mattress was a bit lumpy and uncomfortable and could probably do with a replacement.

Dear Lake Hotel and Spa Management, I recently stayed at your establishment and unfortunately, my experience was marred by an issue that raises concerns about transparency and communication. Upon check-in, I was informed by Lesley of a mandatory requirement for an extra bed for our 4-year-old daughter. After explaining that our daughter would be sleeping with us, we confirmed that an extra bed was not necessary. Lesley agreed and mentioned that the room might not even accommodate an extra bed, reinforcing that this was not guaranteed. During our stay, there was no mention of an extra bed, nor was one provided. However, at checkout, I was surprised to find that a £50 charge had been deducted as an adjustment for an extra bed. When I questioned this, I was informed that the deposit taken at check-in was for incidental charges, including food and other services, but there had been no mention of an extra bed fee. This lack of clear communication and unexpected charge has left us feeling misled and disappointed. It gave the impression of an attempt to impose unjustified charges, which I find unacceptable. I hope the management will address this issue to prevent future guests from facing similar situations. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
