Having just returned from a three night stay at Leathes Head, I felt compelled to sing its praises. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Mark and taken to our room. Our bags were even attended to. Not too often these days......... ! Our ”superior room” was comfortable, immaculately clean and had a splendid view towards Derwentwater, Skiddaw and beyond. It was a tad tired but more than acceptable. The public rooms are modern with a traditional twist and very, very welcoming. The lounge would sit very well in any country house. Following our gentle walk in the garden which enjoys a good balance of belonging to nature and being tended to we went inside for dinner. There is no other word to use other than exquisite. Each course of the three set menus was better than the previous one. The entire team in the kitchen deserve a great deal of praise and credit. During Service, Mark's manner whilst looking after his guests also deserves a mention. A mix of being relaxed and being attentive; not an easy balance to achieve. Guests who chose to go elsewhere for their evening meal don't know what they missed. The standard and choice of breakfasts and the professionalism of the morning staff also deserve much praise. A great start to a good day's walking. In our opinion, Leathes Head achieves what it sets out to be. An English Country House Hotel which sets high standards in all aspects of what it has to offer.

I really enjoyed my 2 night stay in this YHA. The staff were all friendly, welcoming and helpful. It’s in a great location, with many walks straight from the doorstep or a local bus ride away. It has a good bar and the food on offer is simple but a good selection and everything you need after a day on the fells. It has a spacious drying room which was very well used due to the amount of rain during the week. The showers are warm, powerful and spacious. I enjoyed my stay and would definitely return. The only improvement I would suggest is my bunk bed was quite creaky when I moved. This wasn’t too much of an issue as I was in a private room but would have been more annoying if I’d been sharing i.e. I wouldn’t have wanted to move as not to wake others up.

Traditional Lake District hotel. Location was perfect for wandering around Keswick. My room was warm and had a lovely view of snow capped hills. Tea and coffee making facilities were available. Bed was very comfortable and facilities in the room were clean. Decor in the hotel is traditional country style. Check in was quick, a few stairs to climb to my room. The lady who served breakfast was very cheerful and friendly, despite us arriving very close to service closing. An excellent breakfast was served. The car park is small but managed to park my car and was allowed to leave it there for a few hours after check out so I could explore Keswick. A comfortable one night stay. Thank you.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our Honeymoon. The hotel looks Grand from the outside. We checked in and were given room 115. It was a nice size room but the bathroom was very dated, the floor of the room was at a weird angle so was uphill to get to the bathroom. Then unfortunately we didn't sleep as the mattress was old, thin and lumpy. Breakfast was excellent 👍 it was buffet and good quality so no complaints! We went to reception to tell them the bed was awful and they changed our room straight away to a refurbished one which was sooo much better! Room 117. All in a nice stay, the Hotel is a nice short walk from keswick centre and there's plenty of parking. We would stay aging next time we visit keswick.

What a fabulous hotel. Paid extra for a Premier Double which didn't disappoint. A lovely bay window seating area overlooking the hills and lake. So peaceful and a beautiful backdrop. The hotel was sumptuous, breakfast was delicious and lots of choice. The staff were very friendly. Took one of the walks the hotel had suggested, written onto paper which you could take with you. Wow... stunning. Even saw a deer on our pathway. Our bedroom was beautifully done with a very comfortable bed and a super fan which was very much appreciated as we had the most amazing hot weather during our stay. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Just returned from a one night stay. We stayed in the Buttermere room which was perfect for 2 adults and 2 children age 10 and 8. The children loved the pool area and it was great there were floats and toys available to play with. All staff were friendly, helpful and professional. We took advantage of the welcome coffee and cake and soft drinks for the children. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choice available. Thank you for your hospitality and we will return.
