Kona Kai Resort and Gallery

We can't say enough wonderful things about our stay at Kona Kai. The glowing reviews and adults only policy are what brought us to this small resort is set in meticulously cared-for botanical gardens on the Gulf side of Key Largo. Our stay included free use of kayaks, long boards, ping pong, tennis and cornhole. And free parking. We loved the salt water pool. And this being off-season, we sometimes had it all to ourselves. Everything about this place is peaceful. Friendly guests and wonderful front desk host Kathryn made the resort very welcoming. Kathryn guided us to great restaurants and activities close by. We had the Starfruit suite. A one bedroom with full kitchen, living room and modern bathroom with walk-in shower. We were a little concerned about mosquitos this time of year. But over the 5 days we were there, we weren't bit once. The Florida Keys mosquito control do a good job. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing get away, take a look at Kona Kai. We'll be back.

I’ve been visiting the Upper Keys for decades and didn’t appreciate that this gem of a resort was hidden amongst the many other bay side attractions. My wife and I recently celebrated our 33rd anniversary here and loved every minute from sunrise to sunset and beyond. Our well appointed and comfortable room, with beautiful grounds, attractive art gallery, and the sensational view from the pier and dock have solidified this as our new go-to destination. We will return soon and can’t wait to return to use the complementary kayaks and paddle boards - which are actually missing from the list of amenities and activities. I really enjoyed my stay at Kona Kai. Staff were personable, engaging, friendly and very helpful. Grounds are beautiful and the rooms spacious, comfortable and clean. Gorgeous location!

I chose Kona Kai because it had incredible gardens, a lovely pool surrounded by beautiful trees with lush landscaping, and adorable little guesthouses dotted along the charming property. My room was delightful, quiet, and clean. If you can snap up a suite for an extra bit of comfort and room to relax, I highly recommend it. Some rooms even have their own little gardens, patios, and barbecues. Every evening, guests watch the sun set on the dock or by the little beachfront, the perfect way to wind down after a day of exploring Key Largo and neighbouring keys. The front desk staff (situated inside a beautiful art gallery featuring artwork from local ceramists and painters) were super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Kathryn went out of her way to make sure that my stay was enjoyable and pleasant, providing maps, brochures, and great recommendations on eats and activities. I highly recommend a stay at this lovely, relaxing little oasis. I will definitely be back in the future!

Quaint little resort. No restaurant on-site. A big negative. They show a wifi for guests. It only works if you are outside.

Everything was EXCELLENT! The place was beautiful! Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

My husband and i enjoyed our stay however i would give two suggestions to make the place a better experience. A full length mirror is much needed for any woman.. also the dresser was very difficult to open. I still rated the place very high bcuz it was a beautiful place. Please take those things in consideration.
