We stayed here for three nights. On arrival, receptionist was nice and welcoming but then we went to our room. The room was tiny, carpets were stained, bathroom was filthy. My husband found a bra under one of the beds and there were blood stains all over the sheets. He brought the bra down to reception and all we got was a simple apology. We knew the hotel was looking after non paying guests, however we naively thought that they would be separate from paying guests. This was not the case, they were everywhere. Their kids were running up and down the hallways until midnight, the coffee dock wasn’t open and the bar closed at 11 every night, unless you were a non paying guest! We attended a wedding in the Langton hotel (absolutely fabulous hotel which unfortunately had no free rooms as we checked!!!), we got back to the Springhill just after 11pm with our autistic son. My husband went to the bar to get a jug of water and was told “the bars closed” my husband explained that all he wanted was a jug of water for our son, the barman agreed to give it to him and whilst he was getting it a Non paying woman came in to the bar. The barman told her they were closed, to which she replied “I want beer”. The barman said ok and proceeded to serve her!!!! Breakfast was ok, but never once were we greeted by staff or asked for our room number. It was a case of find a free table that wasn’t occupied by non paying guests in their pyjamas. Room service was non existent and the tv stopped working on day 2. Any time we had a shower (in a bathroom that you could go to the toilet, wash your hands and have a shower all at once in it was that small) the bathroom floor flooded. The hotels only saving grace was their pool. The staff were lovely and the water was lovely and cool. I would strongly advise any families considering staying here to think again. We have nothing against the Non paying guests and our hearts go out to the children but this hotel will treat you as second class to the Non paying guests. They should not be taking on paying guests whilst they are nearly full with Non paying guests . We saved for months for our holiday and this hotel has left a bitter taste in our mouths. We’d love to go back to Kilkenny but it’s safe to say we will never go back to the Springhill Court Hotel.
