Langtons Hotel Kilkenny

The hotel was in a perfect location, walking distance from all the sites. We had one of their suites was large and beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay there, but my one "strong" recommendation is that they need get new mattresses. Our mattress was very soft and lumpy. Otherwise everything else was great.

Langtons has an amazing accessible parking lot behind the hotel, even though they’re smack dab in the middle of the continent/downtown historical area. We enjoyed our stay, with friendly and helpful staff members, lots of onsite restaurants and facilities for events, and tasteful rooms. Where Langtons fell short was the smell of urine and poop from the plumbing there (I can only assume). It doesn’t make you feel clean. We also had a pretty aggressive neighbor on a Monday night who was banging on doors and yelling. It was kinda scary. There was yelling back and moaning. Super weird and made us feel a bit unsafe. Otherwise, great hotel for location, room, service, and food.

Arrived earlier than check in time, but reception was fantastic in enabling us to park the car in their carpark and store our luggage while we wandered the sights prior to formally checking in. The room was large and well furnished with large, very comfortable bed, wardrobe, chairs, bedside cabinets and a writing desk. Ensuite bathroom is of a good size and contains an over the bath shower as well as the bath itself being a spa bath. A shame however that it is also very clear that it is in need of some maintenance and renovation. A very useful guest compendium packed with a variety of information was also provided. Well located for an easy walk into the centre of town as well as all the major sights. Excellent free Wi-fi, although this was also unsecured, so users are warned to be careful about what they share over this internet connection.

Convenient location to everything! Free gated parking behind hotel. Rooms large and comfortable… Did not have bathrobes like advertised to use in the room. No elevator to our room… Asked for ice in room and quickly was brought up ice for us! No AC but had a small fan for us to use to cool off. Breakfast delicious! Made to order 4 Star!

There are numerous issues with this hotel. First, they have no lift (elevator) and no Bellman to help you with the bags. We had to carry two 40 pound suitcases up for flights of stairs, not to mention our other luggage. I am 67 years old. I strained my back carrying the bags. When we got to the room, it was ridiculously hot and the front desk sent up someone to help with the air conditioning or opening the windows in the room. The gentleman who came up said he was trying to fix the air conditioning only to learn there is no air conditioning in our room. he then tried to open the windows unsuccessfully. We have two fans going in the room right now and it is still hot. Why their workmen thought that there was working air-conditioning in our room when there wasn’t any air-conditioning, I can’t understand. He also could not figure out how to open the windows since they were clearly not painted shut or nail shut, but could not do so. They were no washcloths in the bathroom, the safe was missing batteries, so it did not work, in order to get ice you had to go down four flights of stairs and walk through the hotel to the bar to ask for it. We booked this hotel because it was highly rated and centrally located. This is the first time I have published a negative review for any of the hotels that we have stayed at. We are on a long trip and have three weeks left in it and I have to deal with a sore back for the rest of the trip.

Excellent location , staff and cleanliness. Right in the centre . Easy to get in and out of . Bar and restaurant areas well managed and huge outdoor area for the good weather. My second time staying here and got a garden suite . Really happy with it .

Do not waste your money NOT 4 star accomodation charging 230 a night for a 2 star experience SEE PHOTOS DO not stay here it is not 4 star. The minute you walk in you get a Horrible smell of Mould and damp and old furniture its was so bad The bathroom was full of mould it was shocking The fixtures were filthy and broken The floors and wood are just manky How they can charge 230 a night for this is robbery. It was so bad I would not even use the shower. The walls are paper thin And you hear Everything from other rooms. The cleaners were outside our door at 8.30am chatting banging wardrobes and hoovering so loud Save yourself a disappointing trip avoid here a wasted night away for new parents so disappointing
