I needed to burn a few vacation days from work before the new year. I decided to head to VT skiing for two days. I was looking for reasonable place to stay near Killington. I was traveling alone and did not need a lot of amenities. I stumbled across The Trailside Inn and could not have had a better experience. This is a family owned Inn and they seem to take great pride in providing an excellent experience. Josh (one of the owners) greeted me on arrival. He was polite, friendly and very helpful in answering questions about the area. Josh mentioned that he likes to think of it as a large home rather than a hotel. They certainly attained that goal. Room: The room (and place in general) was extremely clean. They upgraded me to a King room without me asking (nice touch). The room was simple but comfortable. It felt country but with modern touches. There was no TV or mini fridge but I did not need them. Great Room: There is a large central room that felt like a huge living room/dining room in a large home. It had a great vibe and I spent some time alone in the evening sitting by the fire and enjoying a drink. The room has ski books, magazines, board games etc. It was warm and inviting. Breakfast: A continental breakfast was included in my stay. Due to COVID, breakfast was more grab and go style. There was still still many options. I had a yogurt parfait with fresh fruit and granola as well as fresh squeezed OJ. It was delicious. Location: The location was great. It was ~12 min from Killington. Unless you're going to stay slope side and pay a fortune for ski in-ski out, you need to get into your car either way. I liked that it was not on the access road and more of a quite setting. Overall: I felt like I stumbled into a gem. It may not be a perfect place for a longer stay w/ young kids, but for a solo traveler or a couple, it is fantastic. It was clean, warm, inviting and overall a great experience at a reasonable price. I will not be looking for any other place when returning to this area of VT. They are doing things right!!!
