Great time

This was our first time staying in Plato’s and visiting Kirkby Lonsdale and I would definitely recommend to all our family and friends to take a visit. Plato’s has such a lovely atmosphere, the staff are so friendly and helpful and the attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed. We felt so welcome and love that it’s dog friendly and our dog could be with us all the time. The rooms were so clean and comfortable and they even provided us with a fan for a cool night sleep. The food was delicious and the bar and courtyard area is super relaxing We can’t wait to come back again.

Super friendly Hotel/Bar/Restaurant in the middle of the town, delicious breakfasts cooked to order. Parking permit supplied by Platos which is a huge plus and the owner kindly took all my bags up to my room for me. Very comfy bed & pillows! Family owned and run and highly recommend. The staff went above and beyond to make me very welcome throughout my stay of 2 nights.

Lovely place. Very helpful owners and staff. Rooms were lovely and clean. Beds very comfortable. Lot of stairs if your room is on the top floor and you are less active. Breakfast excellent. Good quality and plenty of choice. We will definitely stay again.

Upon arrival at the hotel things started well with a warm welcome and a parking permit provided for a public car park a 5 minute walk away. Unfortunately that’s the best it got. When we returned at 3pm for our room key we was initially taken to the wrong room and then moved to the correct room to find someone else’s luggage had been left in our room. (No big issue). First impressions of the room were exceptionally underwhelming. We thought we had booked a luxury 5 star hotel when in reality we got a sweat box or a room with very basic facilities, cheap plastic kettle with a plastic try of UHT milk and coffee sachets. No fridge and a bed that was broken and missing bed knob. Curtains that were not fully attached to the loops and tired looking decor. All made worse by the room temperature being unbearable. We were given a cooler fan that required water adding to cool the room, this was not suitable as all it did was blow out warm air and make the room even more humid. Even with the window open we simply couldn’t sleep and did not actually get any sleep until after 5am! When we went for breakfast we realised the radiator in the hall facing our door had been on full heat all night which made matters worse. On a much more positive note: We had our evening meal here and the food and service was exceptional it’s just a real shame the attention to detail and standards did not continue upstairs into the rooms. Based on the room facilities I would rate it as a 3 star room with a 5 star restaurant.

Plato's in right in the middle of this small town. It is an old house - probably a grand merchants house I would think. it is full of charm. We were givent asplendid room overlooking the main street. Comfortable bed and everything clean. Only one small issue - no air con. Most times that would not matter, but it has been very warm of late We had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant. I was especially impressed by the burger. A prper burger with texture and flavour, and ,because it was proper meat, the chef was able to cook it slightly rare for me. Wonderful. Breakfast was freshly prepared to order and again was excellent. There is no car park, but the hotel can provide a permit for the public car park a few minutes wlk away. That was fine

Beautiful family run hotel situated in the centre of the town, the hotel is finished to a very high standard and the staff are very accommodating. The food in the hotel is excellent, especially the breakfast which was cooked to perfection. The live entertainment on the Friday evening was really good and made for a great atmosphere in the place. Our only regret was we only booked one night however, we will be back !!

On arrival we were met by Jessica who helped us with our bags and car parking nearby. Jessica showed us to our room (8) in the loft. The room is large, well appointed with plenty of light but due to vaulted ceiling my movement was restricted somewhat. The bed was very comfortable however and I slept well. Dinner was fabulous. I opted for Duck Croquettes and Tuna Nicoise, my wife for Korean Beef and Poulet Farci and both were delicious. After wine we opted for Espresso Martinis and they were really nice. Breakfast, cooked to order after excellent Granola and fruit compot, was also great and served with a smile and a kind word by Kathleen. All in all we enjoyed our time there and would highly recommended Platos.

Excellent service and friendly staff. Rooms were great and clean, with lovely decor. RESTURANT food was great and staff very helpful
