First of all to say it was a wonderful and pleasant experience with Jayaraj Residency Kodaikanal. A fantastic place with a fantastic garden for a well family. I would like to credit owner Mr.Jaya Pradeep, GM Mr.Ganesan and Incharge Mr.Nandagopal to give us a feel of homely place to stay as our own Residency. All shopping ,malls, food restaurant, bus stand and the star shaped lake are very nearby to the Residency Just 100 meters from bus stand. These people treated us like their own people. As safety is very very important especially to ladies , as a lady I suggest all of you to prefer this home stay during your trips. Especially the rooms are excellent with affordable cost for a middle class family. The location of the property is towards back side of lake and it is far from main market. It is decent location and view from balcony is good. Play area for kids were missing which were available in neighborhood properties. Property is neat and clean and well managed. Unluckily the commode seat was broken in the attached bathroom, but ir was pretty clean. Complementary breakfast was kind of south indian breakfast with not much options. Dinner(paid service) was good.

The property is vast, and has large rooms. I had stayed in a triple bed occupancy with my family. Room quality is average. They have neatly maintained their gardens and the food was good. Location is near to city centre. While you stay there, beware of the following things: (1) The hot water is available from 6AM to 10 AM in the morning and 6 PM to 10PM in the Evening. They terminate the power supply to the individual geysers to every room beyond these timings. It is really difficult during winters to use the Wash Room in the night time. In case of power cut during the stipulated timings, they do not even have a backup genset, and you will have to adjust with the cold water. The entire property runs only on an inverter backup, that does not support running of Heaters (2) They provide only Breakfast and Dinner. Lunch is not offered. Even Coffee/Tea is available only after 4pm (3) Room Heater is charged extra, and no Air conditioning is provided in the room for the tariff charged (4) In case you are conscious about the taxes charged, payments have to be done in cash Overall, the management is not professional and does not seem to care for the above inconveniences even after flagging.

The hearth is a beautiful property, with fire place in the cottages. The restaurant of this property is about 400-500m from the place, in it's neighbouring property, holiday home resort. The food is 3. 5/5. The staff is courteous. Holiday home resort is a vintage property with a small waterfall and lush green surroundings. If you stay at hearth, you can enjoy the holiday home resort common area as well. I would recommend this place for a chill environment, with less crowd and amazing views.
