An excellent stay at Taj Bengal. I have been coming to India for 24 years and lived in the country for seven of those years, but until now I had never been to Kolkata. This four day trip (5th to 9th October) ticked that bucket list objective at a time when the city was aliive with Durga Puja celebrations. I extend particular thanks to Raja at the poolside, to Bilal on the front desk, to Tapas for ferrying me around and for telling me so much about the city, and to Sanjeeb Chakravarti who had me whisked through check-in and security at Kolkata airport quicker than you can say ”Kumartuli Park Sarbojanin Durga Puja Pandal”. Those are the named individuals, but all staff disolayed unfailing courtesy and attentiveness, and all deserve my thanks. The facilities are top rate, as you might expect, and were just what I needed, thank you everyone.

The new landmark building by ITC SONAR is a relatively stylish hotel in the area. All the facilities are new, but the smell of the decoration will be greater due to new reasons. The hotel's food and beverages are fantastic (pictured), the breakfast is very rich, and the Chinese buffet is also the same (the RMB is close to two hundred). The service was very considerate. One night before check-out, the front desk called the room to get information about the flight. When I knew that it was a flight at 5 pm, I immediately indicated that I could extend the check-out time to half past two. Every time I go out, the staff of the Concierge will use the uber to call the car, and I will not bother. The room cleaning was also very careful. Next time, I will choose to live. The downside is that the market on both sides of the door is too embarrassing, and I can't go out for a walk at night, but the hotel is soundproof, and entering the iron gate is another quiet world. Also, the toilet flushes and needs strength. In addition, perfect.
