HOTEL HILLWAY PARK

I called the non veg restaurant at Hillway Park to pre-order food for my family returning from Sabarimala, young boys who had been fasting, were extremely tired, hungry, and some unwell. They were just 15 minutes away, and the request was made only so the food could be ready immediately on arrival. The call was handled by Jacob Philip, the manager, who refused outright to take the order unless the guests physically arrived. Despite calmly explaining the urgency and the condition of the children, he showed no empathy, no willingness to listen, and no effort to accommodate. His tone was rigid, dismissive and unnecessarily authoritative, making the call stressful rather than helpful. We opted to call ahead because this restaurant is known for unusually long waiting times in the past. The only reason we even considered this place was because the washrooms and premises are clean. Beyond that, there is nothing positive to say about the service or staff attitude. Cleanliness alone does not define hospitality. If you expect understanding, cooperation, or respectful service, this is not the place.

The mini fridge was not working, and i found lizards in the room. The bed was uncomfortable, and they charged an extra 500 at the property, claiming that twin-bed rooms take longer to clean, so i would have to wait to get one. To avoid the wait, i paid the extra 500 for a deluxe room, but the bed was still very uncomfortable. It feels like the management is just trying to steal money from guests.

The hotel is clean, well-maintained, and meets the standards of a 4-star property. However, the room size did not justify the high price. The main issue, though, was with the restaurant. It was located outside and was shared with the public, making it very crowded and resulting in long waiting times. I believe the hotel should consider providing a separate restaurant for guests to improve the experience. Additionally, we were unable to have dinner as we arrived at 9:30 pm, but were not informed that the kitchen would stop taking orders at 9:45 pm. It would have been helpful if the staff had communicated this in advance.

They changed the rates and promises several times in one day while I tried to reserve. After reading reviews from others who had similar experiences of unprofessionalism and arrogance especially from their GM, I decided not to proceed with the booking.

The hotel is ideally located close to mc road near nilamel. The rooms are neat. Bath room is neatly kept. There was electricity failure for some time in the hotel but no generator seems to be there. Counter staff was very polite and helpfull. Overall a good experience
